Honestly....as bizarre as it sounds I think Goku Black being Goten would have been a better turn out.I say this for a few reasons.I feel as though he would have been a great foil for Future Trunks in that it shows how the timelines really differ and I think that it would have set up a great way for Goku to pay more attention to his son instead of training all the time, in order to prevent present Goten from becoming the same way.I also feel that this could have shown how easily influenced Goten is at a young age and stress just how much he really needs his father's guidance.Here's how it would go.....Instead of stealing Goku's body and killing his family,he does the next best thing.He wishes for the death of Son Goku and Goku dies in front of Goku.Then Goten goes to get chichi and when she arrives to see Goku's body Zamasu shows up and kills her.Now Goten is orphaned and he is angry Zamasu.He transforms and tries to fight Zamasu but is easily defeated.Zamasu then see's a golden opportunity.If Son Goku's son is this strong as a child,imagine how powerful he could become after a little......Guidance.He tells Goten that he is destined for a purpose far greater than he could ever imagine but goten isn't hearing it.He tells goten that his father and mother were flawed beings who had no control over their unforgivable sins and that he is the God who judges all.Goten is reluctant at first but Zamasu goes on to tell him that he will take care of him and always be there for him and that he will train him in the ways of the Gods.Zamasu kidnaps goten and raises him in a freiza/vegeta like fashion but with love and compassion.He teaches Goten his unique fighting techniques and teaches him that he is above the mortals that have sinned against the gods.That he's special.Goten at first reluctant and vengeful comes to care alot about Zamasu and after Zamasu takes him from world to world showing him the sin of mortals,He grows to share a hatred and dislike for them as well.Goten comes to view the world in a totally different view than he had from the innocent eyes of his youth.He is deadset on carrying out the Zero mortals Plan brought about his "father" the vengeful and terrible god Zamasu.Because of his likeness to goku Future Trunks and Bulma (not knowing who goten is) refers to him as Goku Black as he is identical to Goku but is very dark and menacing.Trunks returns to the past and upon seeimg Goku,mistakes him for Black.However,Trunks is unaware of Goku's youngest son,his younger self's best friend.The events occur in the same way except upon when Black reveals who he is he reveals himself as Goten.I honestly think this could work because it would be a great view of how neglectful Goku is of his kids and how they can be influenced by others.Look at Gohan and piccolo...what if the same thing happened but with Goten and Zamasu but Zamasu was successful in completely changing Goten view of humanity?In order to instill Goten's hate in the saiyans,he could have told him stories about how evil and horrible the saiyans were and how through destroying planets and slaughtering innocents,they were the most sinful of all mortals.I honestly think this would have been able to work given the right amount of effort and time.It could even work if Zamasu goes to a different time when Goten is a baby and kidnaps him,killing Chichi and Gohan.Consider both of these.What do you all think?

It's going to turn out that Goku isn't his real father and Chi Chi had an affair with Krillin when Goku was dead after the Cell games. That's why Goten stays short and why she keeps his hair looking the way she does. It's to avoid suspicion.

Okay, quick idea for a mini arc starring Goten. While Goku and Geets are trying with Whis, and Gohan and Videl are busy, they ask Goten to babysit Pan (and Trunks offers to help). Goten is trying to be a proper babysitter but Trunks still wants to goof off, leaving Goten distracted, allowing Pan to be kidnapped (by an alien race that's heard of Earth's great champion Hercule and wants to take him down by taking his granddaughter hostage). Goten, obviously quite upset at Trunks for distracting him, flies off to rescue Pan, feeling guilty, Trunks flies after him. Goten and Trunks are able to find the kidnappers' hideout and demand that Pan is given back. A fight breaks out and and Goten and Trunks are met with great resistance (possibly due to their lack of training) and decide to fuse into Gotenks. However, with Goten's great desire to rescue Pan and his anger at her kidnappers, Goten ends up becoming the dominate personality of Gotenks (who was previously just cockier Kid Trunks) and are able to beat the kidnappers and rescue Pan. When they get back to Gohan's house, Trunks says that Pan getting kidnapped should be our little secret, but when Gohan and Videl get home Goten, with tears in his eyes, tells Gohan the truth. Expecting to be reprimanded by his older brother, Gohan is just thankful that Goten was able to get her back, and shows Goten and Trunks letters sent by the kidnappers that they were going to take the Guardian of Earth's grandchild. Gohan knew that Pan would be in good hands with Goten if he wasn't around. Finding this out, Goten decides to double down on his training and try to follow more in his father's footsteps and in his brother's footsteps. Goten doesn't want to be the strongest fighter in the world, he just wants to be strong enough to help people in need. Though he'll end up getting a little distracted by girls later on in life.

MFAniki6390 Didn't this already happen a bit with the Pilaf gang? Well another kidnapping of baby Pan, sure, why not. But how about instead of aliens it's just some normal thugs trying to extort money from the Herc. As a twist the "distraction" of Trunks is compounded by him bringing Mai over. This sets up the a conflict on the Goten side because he now has to deal with the fact that is "best fusion bud" has another interest in his life. This gives Goten reasons to be independent from Trunks, distrust Mai (after all we already had one kidnapping by her), and eventually reconcile. Obviously at some point we need Goten to call out Mai about her "age". As everyone else seems to just IGNORE IT! This gives the mini-segment a Goten focus, but not make it a one character show. It would also be cool if Goten figures out Pans already budding power, but decides to keep it quite about it in his laid back way.

I aways thought that the pun with Goten refers to the fact that Goku and Chi-Chi had him around the time Goku went to train at King Kai's place after the Cell arc. Which is located in The Dragon Ball universe's equivalent of heaven, called the otherworld. Also the "ten" in Goten translates to heaven or sky.

Even something simple like Goten figuring out what he wants to do with himself would be appreciated. At this point, the Character has no ambitions, no goals, he's just sort of always gone with the flow, which is fine, but how long can you really do that for? I think even a simple Side-Arc about Goten finding his place in the World would be appreciated. Does he want to be a Fighter like his Father, a Scholar like his Brother, or perhaps maybe even something else entirely? Who knows, but I would like to see this Character look into these questions himself, I would like to see Goten grow up :)

A really cool thing would be seeing Goten realise what he can be, his father chose his own path towards fighting and his brother followed the path that his mother wanted him to follow(willingly). Goten is at the crossroads between the two and that's why he of all character can follow his own path, create it and become something more than just a Goku or Gohan look-alike

Pixar The Great He never wanted to be the strongest. He hated fighting. Even when he was the "strongest" and fighting Cell, he didn't want to fight or kill Cell until achieving a form that frees him of such reluctance. First chance at a normal life and being a scholar he gets, I would think he'd take it. And on top of that, he IS training with Piccolo so he can at least protect Videl and Pan when Goku and Vegeta aren't there for EVERYONE. I would hope a Gohan fan notices this. Also, if Gohan beat Frieza's ass, that would break Frieza. Frieza's thing is that he never had to train to get his power, so Frieza doing actual training would turn him into a monster that can rival Gods, which it did. If Gohan, who wouldn't hold a candle to Bluper Saiyan Goku and Vegeta even if he DID train, defeated Frieza after Frieza gained the power he did, it would mean fixing one character to break another. Problem still not resolved.

There were times of peace, her husband was strong enough to beat any threat known at the time (since Raditz hadn't shown), and she wanted more for her son than for him to be a clone of Goku by doing nothing but train, which he probably wouldn't even want to do even if she had allowed it. And besides, I'd like to see YOU have Gohan's life of a steady income, a wife, a kid, AND a good brain muscle instead of body muscle. You know how many people fucking WISH they had it that good? I get the feeling Goten was created mainly because Toriyama had a terrible idea named Gotenks, and just needed a baby Goku to fuse with Vegeta's child, who was already established. Hence, a throwaway nothing character named Goten. They haven't used him because he's already served his purpose, and Toriyama never had a plan for him beyond that. Hell, it's been four years since the Buu saga and Goten looks and acts exactly the same. It's just another case of a Toriyama'ed character. Even in the end of Z, 10 years later episode, Goten was already written off as being another do-nothing failure moron who spent his life on a cell phone. As long as Toriyama is directing character growth, expect to see everyone orbiting Goku turn into jokes to keep up the status quo of Goku needing to do everything.

This is something I still fail to understand: Why do people assume the ending of Z (like the last 3 episodes, not sure how many chapters) is still canon? Do you believe that everything Super has added can transition properly into that ending? Would you even want it to? The ending of Z, imo, was set up perfectly for GT-that's not something I really want. Gohan, Goten and Trunks were useless and even Vegeta had seemingly settled down; Goku was the only relevant character. I've been saying this for years, but it seems like no one talks about it. Either way, it's a shame that Goten has been pushed aside like this. I seriously hope for some character development for him soon.

If you really look closer, Goten is merely Gohan 2.0 to Chichi, now she just badgers him to study. Though unlike Gohan, Goten gives no shits about school really. He goofs off with Goku in the turnip fields in the movie and the first part of Super.

As for why he doesnt change, Id like to think its because he takes after Goku more and probably has more obvious Saiyan traits than Gohan did. His late physical maturity, his more rambunctious nature and his penchant for combat.

If they take the time to develop his character theyd most likely be detracting from the main story..and they still have to stay true to who he is at the end of Z..which is a normal teenage boy who only cares about girls. So they just dont have any material for him. Plus like Masakox said if they change his design they lose their merch( even tho kid Gohan had like 5 designs)

Goten has no independence, even when it is just trunks and goten trunks shows and tells him what to do. That might just be who he is. If he was given an arc to FORCE independence out of him, in crisis then we would see major development. However the issue with super is that there is no crisis that Goku/Vegeta couldn't handle that goten could.

I'd be fine with Goten not being fully independent. He is his father's son, and Trunks is *his* father's son; combine that with how Bulma probably isn't as strict as Chi-Chi, and I can definitely see Trunks coming up with ideas for things to do and Goten going "Sure thing, best buddy!" I mean, he should be his own character, but that doesn't mean he has to take charge all the time.

Goten was always kind of a wasted character in my eyes. he's Gohan's little brother, Goku's second son, he turned super saiyan without even trying, AND he's best friends with trunks. all the building blocks are there for an amazing character; but he isn't. he's just a kinda cute goku clone, that doesn't even work as trunks' foil anymore. he just... exists. which is irritating. He could be this fun and carefree kind of character. very playful and jokey. Hell, imagine him as a teenager. he could be sarcastic and quipy instead of trunks. Which would seperate him from BOTH his dad, and older brother. since neither act remotely like that. but i honestly doubt anything will come of goten

I want to see Goten start to look outside of the Trunks patrol. Specifically, I want Goten to inspire Krillin and/or Tien to be his martial arts teacher and have Goten become a genius at creating new fighting techniques (not just different laser beams, more like Solar Flare, Kaioken, and Afterimage types of variety). It might be cool to see Goten go on the police patrols as well. The potential is endless with this character.

People usually hate on Super for Gohan seeming weaker, but Goten being pushed aside is what truly bothered me. Whatever maturing he did during the Buu Arc has been completely squandered (if that's a word XD) and tbh it kinda irks me. I really liked him as a character! I hope he can get some character development. Ok I'm done ranting.

To be fair, other than Kid Trunks and Krillin, a lot of your side characters are useless in Super. Sure, they had a temporary reason to still have Master Roshi around, but what of anyone else? Tien was always a fighter, but he hasn't had a relevant scene since fighting Cell. I can't imagine Tien has stopped training. Yamucha hasn't done jack all since Android 20 put a hole in him. And, let's face it, wasn't doing jack all before then either. Even Piccolo has disappeared since the Universal Tournament. Goten is just a victim of having too many characters and not enough time to focus on them. He's only there to make the audiance remember that Goku has a family to take care of. Otherwise Goku just becomes a lame character who's honestly surpassed by Vegeta. If Goten matures any, or grows up, he's not a child to protect anymore. Lets face it, if the only thing waiting for Goku at home was Chi Chi, nobody would care. Chi chi isn't exactly anyone's favorite character. Super's main problem is that the strength of the fights is so far beyond most of it's cast nowadays that only new characters can even catch up, leaving everyone else behind. It's a series of fights with none of the adventure that the original Dragonball had. Nobody goes anywhere or does anything that doesn't involve Goku and Vegeta fighting someone. Ever. Tien tried his hand at Super Buu. He hit a Tri-Beam to no avail and was taken out in a blow. He was one of the people Goku considered fusing with after Gohan was lost. He also had his share of screen time and action during the Revival of F movie and arc; and he stood up to Beerus during his pudding-induced rampage as well. I'd say he's done well for himself. Yamacha officially retired from fighting after the Cell Games. He's a baseball playing playboy now. Piccolo is just continuing his traditional of raising all the kids in Goku's family.

well a Gi isn't really play outside clothes. In general, when DB came back, it went back to a very asian influence design for the human classic characters that don't live in cities(that's so specific huh). Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Krillin, and Goten for some reason(chichi) started wearing more traditional chinese style clothing. Which is how the boonies/rural characters always wore(cept goku, he did have a gi, part of goten's goku phase I guess). Maybe all he needs is a pony tail or raditz hair.

My wife and I keep going back to this dream series of Dragonball, like maybe a later arc of Super or just a new series where Goten and Trunks are a part of a whole new team of fighters including Bura, Maron, and Pan. The current arc is actually in Age 780, so it's been about two years in-universe since Super started and Goten is actually 13 now (and still hasn't grown). It also means it's the same year as when "History of Trunks" took place and Trunks doesn't look like Future Trunks did in that, even though he should.

I wouldnt be surprised if it was because Chichi had him studying and not allowing him to get involved, for another reason you neglected. Remember, Gohan was kidnapped for over a year by Piccolo, then spent months on a foreign planet, then in the blink of an eye another year of his life passed, a very critical part of his development as he transitions from child to tween, locked in the hyperbolic time chamber. And then again "dead" for a significant time in the buu saga Chichi missed out on colossal parts of Gohans childhood, and for a mother thats heart-shattering, especially after several instances where she has believed her child to have died. Its no wonder that after one gallivant against buu that she puts the leash around Goten and ensures that he doesnt get involved in too much, she doesnt want to miss out or suffer like she did trying to raise Gohan. Would also explain his dress sense, she simply doesnt want to see him grow up, to try and compensate for the time lost with Gohan.

With Goten, I think with his laid back nature that Chi-Chi has a lot of say in what he does and doesn't do. I think the thing that gets his momentum going is going to be him finding something HE LEGITIMATELY wants to do with all his heart, and having Chi-Chi tell him no. OK, I've calmed down a little bit, and I think I've come up with a possible role for Goten to play: The Defender of the Earth. Now hold on and hear me out. Goku isn't the defender of the Earth, he's called that because he lives there, he likes to fight with strong opponents( and reading, and sports), and his friends live there. Gohan isn't the defender of the Earth because he doesn't care about planet Earth, just his family and his studies. Also he lacks any capablity to defend anyone from anything. Goten, however, is still effectively a blank slate. IF he were to go on a sort of "walkabout", meeting a lot of the Old Dragon Ball characters; Sunno, 8-er, Upa, Monsterbeast Girran, Nam etc., he could discover a love for the planet he lives on AND its people. This in turn would cause him to have a need to get stronger, because Goku's not gonna live for ever, Vegeta could go evil at any moment, and Gohan is incapable. And here is how I think they should start this drastic change in character, for a person who has been very laid back: A few episodes after Goku Black is done, have an episode where Goten has just finished reading and annotating War and Peace, and so asks Chi-chi if he can go and visit Ox King. Chi-chi asks why he doesn't want to see Trunks and Goten says that, ever since Trunks got his new girlfriend he just wants to hangout with her stupid friends, and girls are silly. Chi-chi goes, "That's right Goten, the only girl you can trust is dear old mom" and sends him on his way. When he's at the Ox King, maybe Ox King tells him the story of the Bancho Fan, Ox King has a heart attack. And only Goten getting him to a hospital, or Dende, saves him. This run in with death, a REAL death, makes Goten realize mortality is a thing and gives him the idea that he's gotta grow up NOW to be the Savior after Hercule dies. His attitude changes, he doesn't want to waste time studying or playing with Trunks, maybe he even runs away from home. He just wants to train, get stronger, and be ready the next time a Frieza level threat comes to Earth. This can all culminate in a moment when Chi-Chi asks Gohan to find Goten, and when Gohan does and asks Goten to come home, Goten says "Make me." And after a blistering fight, Gohan is left battered and bruised on the ground. Piccolo comes by, and asks Gohan if he needs help, and Gohan says "Yes. I need to put in a request to take a month off from work. We've got a lot of training to do." Eventually Goku would come home (he's been off hangin' out with Gods and a Prince this whole time) and Chi-Chi makes him bring Goten back. And he does. But this whole incident maybe sets off a change in the attitudes of the Son family take to fighting, and so, when the next threat does arrive it finds a united Son Family, ready to Family Kamehameha it in the face.

I don't think you have a good grasp on Gohan as a character at all. Gohan definitely cares about the planet. Gohan doesn't like fighting is the problem. He hates to hurt anyone. It doesn't matter how strong he gets if he doesn't like fighting. He sees that he can leave any real trouble to his father and Vegeta, there's a ton of other strong people around as well, he figures it's alright if he focuses on his studies. After Res F he realizes he needs to train again, but he's stuck in his career now and doesn't have the time to do it. He also wants to be a good father to Pan, and if he lived his life like the rest of the Z-Warriors did for so long he won't ever be around for his family. Notice how since Krillin started a family, he too has given up fighting. He now provides for his family as a police officer. The rest sounds like some crazy fan fiction lmao That's not how these characters behave man.

Not sure where Masako got his source, but it also makes sense for about 4 years if you think about it another way too. Videl would need 8 months to give birth to Pan, and I'd assumed Gohan, as we'd already established being the responsible adult that he is, wouldn't have jumped the gun without sorting out a career for himself (so at least 1 if not nearly 2). Considering Gohan's job I'd also assumed he'd gone through some university education if not graduated. Can't really become a respected researcher with a GED, so 4 does make sense if Gohan was technically a senior in high school during the end of Z. All this considered we'd be nearing 5 years now since Videl would have been pretty early in her pregnancy during Battle of Gods if no one noticed but her (for obvious reasons) and Pan's surely been around for more than a few weeks in story.

I feel what happened with Goten is this: In Resurrection Of F, or at least, the DB-Super adaptation, Goten and Trunks are forbidden from fighting against Freiza, showing the tremendous gap in power (Not Power Levels mind you) that Goku and co. have achieved. Goten couldn't really fight Beerus, participate in the Multidimensional Tournament or any of that because we see that Goku and Vegeta BARELY survive most of the time. Goten has sorta accepted that it feels like. Heck, Chi-Chi probably wants Goten to grow like Gohan did too; shelving the fighting life and being a normal kid. I mean, hey, it worked well for Gohan. He got his life on track and is happier than ever. I just hope we don't get GT Goten... Also Gotenks would be kind of nice since at the time of typing this, Vegito is in 2 days. Toriyama brought back 1 fan favorite, who's to say there won't be more returning favorites?

I've always loved Goten. I loved how different he his from his brother and how he's had a different relationship with his father. It could've lead to much more interesting and meaningful character development. I should note that Future Trunks is my favorite DB character. And I always assumed Kid Trunks would (hopefully) turn out like him. Growing up with Goten and having another Saiyan to train with would in theory make them so much stronger than their fathers were at their respective ages. Also, I think that teen Goten's design is one of Toriyama's best. Hopefully Goten will receive that much needed character development soon. I assumed Toei and Toriyama kept everyone's design the same so they wouldn't confuse new viewers. seems dumb to me. Had I not watched your videos I would've assumed DBS took place a year after end of Buu's defeat.

I think the childish Goten is going to see Trunks maturing and getting more serious and Goten is going to want to follow suit. The thing about Goten and Trunks is they are linked they're best friends and theres the gotenks link so any character development for one will affect the other...any day now.

I feel like Goten just looks young cause when you look at his dad in Dragon Ball, he stayed small up until they time skipped at the end. Also I think he's more laid back cause of his relaxed childhood.

What i think Masako is that Goten right now is studying. You remember that time when Goten was going to the place where Goku Black was when Bulma called Piccolo and Trunks? He was stopped there and then by Chi Chi who wanted him to study. Perhaps he was doing that the whole time. Also when the last time he was shown when all the "Z-Warriors", so to speak, had came together, he was seen escaping house with Trunks and Chi Chi coming to find him.

Here's an idea for Toriyama: Goten is a part of DBS, but it's hard to figure out what to do with him because Chi Chi forces him to study, right? Why not make him decide that he wants to be a scientist/alien biologist/kai scholar when he grows up? This would give a reason for Goten to starting hanging out at the Briefs' house and give him a reason to go on adventures with the Z Fighters and their often powerful alien lifeform threats. He could even help Bulma come up with more effective training equipment for Vegeta and his father, replicate the hyperbolic time chamber, and improve scouters or dragon ball equipment. In doing this, that would set his character apart from any other character in the Dragon Ball canon and help him bridge the gap between purely scientific/scholar characters like the Briefs and Gohan and the Z Fighters. It's a non-zero sum game!

My thing is really wondering where they could go with Goten. I think there is definitely potential for growth, but I also have an inkling that Goten's purpose had been fulfilled as far back as the Buu arc, and that he's being kept around because of narrative cohesiveness and inheritance. Goten was made to garner revenue from nostalgia for kid Goku. Then Goku returns, and Goten loses his narrative place - As MasakoX states, his personality is too much like Goku to really distinguish him. You can't really use him for other character roles; other characters already personify paths he could take. Gohan was the opposite of Goku, quiet, more reserved, more serious overall. Present Trunks has the bratty half-pint thing, Vegeta has/had the envious rival story, and keeping him laid back and quirky just makes him the mini-goku that he is. Does that mean he is incapable of growth and a unique character development? Of course not. But I think with so much other stuff going on, and an expanding cast that continues to grow, I think Goten will continue to get left in the background as more people are brought in. Goten was never a 'lead' character so much as a supporting character, so it stands that he'd be the Saiyan that gets the least focus.

I really hope that the writers realize that the side characters are a gold mine worth of stories. Instead of having a new powerful villain/transformation of the week, they would focus on the side characters stories. Like it would be cool to see Goten and Trunks training in the gravity room so they can become stronger like their father. Or something like Goten asking Picolo and Gohan to train him so he can get stronger like Goku.

I think Goten should get a small character arc of him changing evolving becoming a new kind of character maybe just becoming a passive badass like becoming the kind of quiet kid in school who everyone is afraid of because they subconsciously know that if he goes ballistic blood will be spilled he deserves better than being just a mini goku.

I wish Toriyama would make the non-saiyan characters relevant to the plot and even the fight sequences. I want Piccolo to actually MATTER again. I want Krillin to take on someone that matters and actually WIN. We've kind of accepted that these characters have fallen to the wayside and they just don't matter. A story arc where Krillin becomes frustrated that he can't beat enemies that threaten the planet and frustration with his over-reliance on Goku would have made for a REALLY good and interesting story arc where we could have seen into the mind of the character. But nope. His story is FUCK IT. He's a cop now.

I think it would be both good and also funny to give Goten a similar treatment that Goku had in Dragon Ball when it was finally time for him to grow up (albeit in a less extreme way). Have an episode that it's supposed to be Goten's 12th birthday, and it starts with the day before and everyone is getting ready and is super excited. Then everyone goes to sleep for the night, and by start of the next morning, Goten has grown by about 2 extra feet and his hair has gone crazy different. Not only would it be hilarious, but it could also be a nice little call back to the fact that Goku suddenly went from shrimp to near full adult size in the span of a few years after being small for so long. (maybe even have Goku or Krillin or Bulma mention it with a kind of "like father like son" inflection). Then have a story where Goten is unsure if he should change his personality too to match his new appearance or stay the same, or be a mix of old self and new self (end with old+new of course). I feel like that would be a good, quick and easy way to handle the issue of Goten.

A decent idea for the future would actually be to seperate Goku and Vegeta from Earth, let them do the gods and multi-verse gods fighting and let the kids defend the earth. Think about it. Goku and Vegeta are out of the league compared to everyone else and they will remain that way. Hell, the power difference will even increase most likely. So if they go out in space, or out of space and time, next dimension or wherever they have powerful enemies and great stories on their own. And on earth we have Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Piccolo who have to defend earth (and arguably established planets like New-Namek) against smaller threats (smaller in comparison to Beerus) without the last second deus-ex machina Goku always is. Therefore we could have two storylines and much more character progress for everyone. Gohan as the mentor for Goten and Trunks. Goten in situations where he has to deal with threats on his own and cannot rely or hide behind his big brother or his best friend Trunks (maybe he even has to rescue them) and therefore has to mature.

yeah, Goten's always been pretty passive... back in the Boo arc, when he wasn't being Trunks's sidekick, he was tagging along his big brother to train... that doesn't leave much space for his character to develop, since he mainly followed Trunks's lead... but Toriyama will soon have to start filling in the blanks between the end of the Boo arc and the end of DBZ, when Goten was a normal teenager focused on girls... the question is HOW? a) you could introduce a mini-arc with him meeting a girl that finally kicks that puberty into motion b) he could get a growth spurt and make that a sub-plot to any arc that comes after the Zamasu arc c) he could be going to the same classes as Trunks and the Pilaf gang, giving him some struggles of his own (kinda like Gohan's arc at Orange Star High) while spending time with Trunks and doing what Chi-Chi wants him to do (study)

now i haven't watched super so i don't know if it shows Goten still hanging out with Trunks. but what if they give Goten a arc revolving around his relationship with trunks (as friends), and the emotional struggle? i know goten is supposed to be happy go lucky, always smiling, always goofing around. but putting him at his most vulnerable, and have slowly picking himself up, and growing as a character.
