Seeing that turbolift scene, I always wonder what more adventures with Kirk, Spock and Mitchell would have been like.

The turbolift scene was pretty cool showing it go from a lower deck to the bridge.

O M G !!! I friggin love the bridge sound when they first exit the turbolift onto the bridge. Whomever came up with those sounds is brilliant ! The original pilot "The Cage" had an awesome bridge sound as well. The cool sounds on the bridge near the end of "Charlie X" was awesome too !!!
@kentshelton34512 жыл бұрын
I agree. There's just something unique and impressive about the first bridge sounds that evokes feelings of activity and adventure.

The overhead shot as Mitchell entered was unique for the series and I still can’t figure out how they changed the connecting set from the corridor to the bridge while holding the shot in the turbolift.

The original star trek will always be the only best i'm sick and tired of these remastered or modern crappy star trek movies they need to give it a damn rest they can't top the original star trek ever!
@kentshelton34514 ай бұрын
I couldn't agree more! I've seen some of the remastered episodes of TOS online and many have remastered the special effects. The original special effects are part of what makes TOS so awesome. You can't digitalize such a tv legend. It's part of the show's magic.

@kentshelton3451 They ruined it by touching this masterpiece and I think they did it on purpose I found the original star trek online to watch for free but they might have took it down not sure I will check and see again

@kentshelton3451 ok I just looked it up and the site is still up the real original to watch for free that is is only one they need to show not remastered

I’ve never seen this subject brought up, but I’ve wondered if Spock was the first officer like in the regular episodes, or if he was the science officer only. Mitchell (a Lt Cmdr) seems to occupy the same position as Number One in The Cage (she sat at the helm, too) and I thought it would make sense that Mitchell rose up with Kirk like a tail, whereas Spock was inherited from Pike’s old crew. Also, even though Dr. Piper was the ship’s doc, Dr. Dehner seems to be holding McCoy’s typical role, advocating for humanity over cold logic.

I feel like Mitchell was a Helmsman, while Spock was the first officer in WNMHGB.

You can see a very subtle different color of Kirk, Spock and Smith's tunic as appearing a rich gold velour. Mitchell and Kelso as well as Scott are wearing a dull tan. There are no red uniforms yet, but all science specialists, even at stations, are in blue. There was talk of the original uniforms being green for command staff, and it got developed as gold. Smith would be wearing that team's livery as she directly serves the captain. Rand (Whitney) later wore red because she helped design that new costume for herself...and chose red as her most photogenic color...as did eventually Nichols

You can tell this is the pilot from the uniforms.

So McCoy wasn’t the ship’s chief medical officer at this point despite being in the previous episode or two? I know the this was filmed before the other episodes but it’s really weird how this breaks continuity from the previously aired episodes
@STho205 Жыл бұрын
TOS Season 1 was not supposed to be linear but chapters out of the captain's log in random order....thus the stardates are random. By season 3 they were all out of order again. The new Klingon ship model (never shown in S1 or S2) was visuallt and verbally introduced in the 1st episode filmed: Elaan of Troyus...but that episode was shown mid season long after Enterprise Incident where it is a Romulan ship.

Oh I see why you put this video out. It’s about the great barrier reef at the edge of the galaxy. Where Star Trek discovery mentioned yesterday. Good move my friend good move. I’ll have to rewatch the whole episodes to see if they can leave a clue to me what the DMA is.

I still wonder why the esp happened in this episode when they went through the same barrier 2 more times, although at much higher warp speeds with only minor damage to the ship

Fascinating how they still thought tapes would still be in use hundreds of years from now. Maybe so 2024. Tape is still used for companies with 25-100 year retention policies And archiving data for large language models in case the data is needed in the far future. Ha....maybe they still will used tapes a couple of hundred years from now

Because this was the second pilot. Streaming services have this as the third or fourth episode for some reason but it’s the second. you’ll also notice Dr McCoy is nowhere to be seen and Sulu is in astro sciences not the helmsman.

@@definitely_notme4112 Streaming services (and the Blu-rays, I think) list them in original broadcast order, not in production order. The first regular episode was actually “The Corbomite Maneuver” and you can see the regular colors, but the uniforms were made of a different material that got replaced a couple episodes later.
