It's amazing how fast Kulich has risen. He's now the major trade piece in every Buffalo trade rumor out there lol. I am not one to put much stock in the World Juniors but something tells me he's going to be a gem in the NHL and is a non starter for Kevyn Adams. Would love to have Meier but Buffalo needs to be careful adding too many big contracts too soon. They got Cozens coming up this summer too.

Plus, Cozens and Dahlin will need to get paid, and they are going to get paid. I view the acquisition of Meier as a luxury rather than a necessity. Buffalo has players like Nadeau, Kulich, Kozack, Cedarqvist, even Rosen, Rousek, Savoie that will be knocking on the door to make the big squad next year. If I am being honest, what the Sabres need is a truly physical defenseman and I have said this across multiple vids, I covet Xhekaj from Da ‘Abs and would very much prefer making a play for him. So yes, the window is opening, but this is not something anyone who covers the NHL expected ( and if you are the NHL - wanted) so there is a certain latitude the franchise has, and I believe Adams and Granato have a vision that they are seeing through. Of course, I am just some internet ninny and all I am saying could be moot at any time.

Love your videos. The Leaf trade is way too light. Unfortunately most sites linked to the Leafs always get the fans going with their light trades. Only Toronto seems to rank him so highly. He is a mid 20's out of the top 100 prospects and Holtz is top 10. If I was the Sharks I would take the NJ offer and not consider the Leafs offer. NJ has the most cap flexibility next year and should be the top offer but it would be up to the SJS to take the deal that works best for them. Leafs would have to offer Knies, Niemela, and Hirvonen to come close to the NJ offer and even at that, they fall short. Timo trade may end up being two firsts.

It's interesting you make the trade proposal you did for the Isles because the only piece in that package touched in the Horvat trade was the 2023 1st. Instead, it could be a future 1st. I am also surprised that Nemec has not been brought up in Timo Meier mock trades with New Jersey. Buffalo is an interesting fit. Not sure how committed they are to make a blockbuster like this, but maybe they do it. However, the Rangers are a major omission. I would be surprised if the Rangers didn't come out of this deadline with either Kane or Meier.

Any Meier trade starts with either your first or second best prospect, an unprotected 2023 1st... then you're gonna have to throw in extras like a solid NHL player, another prospect or two and maybe even a 2nd or 3rd from the next two drafts. If your a team like the Devils, Carolina or Buffalo you can't try to nickel and dime the sharks in the trade. You gotta bite the bullet. Making this trade could take your team from a good playoff team to a great one that opens your cup window for the next few years.

Meier to Sabres? I could see that happening, but Sabres won't give Joker and certainly not Kulich. Not only the priority of the Sabres is to add a dman but one who is a LHD one, so they would need to make another trade if they trade Joker to get Benning. Also Kulich I think is untouchable. He is their best forward prospect. I could see them moving Savoie or Ostlund, but not Kulich.

But SJ is adding a ton of player for their AHL team so they can go on a Calder Cup Run so I feel like even when they make their deadline moves AHL players may come in...just a theory though. (That's why you're seeing all these recent deals) They want Eklund, Bordeleau, Gushcin, Robins, and Makaniemi to gain experience and make an NHL impact next year (Similar to what they did with Timo Meier in 2015)

Minnesota could be interesting, however my only issue is his qualifying offer of 10m. They would have to be 100% certain of a contract number lower than that before they pull the trigger imo. Fitzys brother also happens to be SJ's director of player development. Timo's ex assistant coach was long time former Devil, John Madden as well as Larry Robinson, Colin White, and Pete DeBoer who have all coached him and cone from NJ. He's also Swiss, as is Hischier, Siegenthaler, and Schmid. Holtz is apparently the key player we'd be building our trade package around who happens to be bestfriends with SJ's best prospect, William Eklund. Claude Lemiuex is also Fabian Zetterlund's agent. Timo also cane from Halifax Mooseheads where Nico played. They killed it this summer at the world championship with Switzerland on the same line. There's connections for days between us and Timo.

Holtz could go either way but the sniping ability is world class. And on top of that a 1st rounder!? Timo is a great player and would be nice to see him with Hischier but we already have a slew of small guys. We need more size for the playoffs.

That doesn't bring back Kerfoot, Engvall, Simmonds, Astin Reese, Hol, or anyone else to fill out the roster ... you know - in case they have any injuries last year. @@andrewzy well you don't understand my point. If they have options to sign where they want, it implies that those options are from teams who are interested. They will be literally UFA, that means they will be able to negotiate with all teams interested. Arizona sooner or later will be moved by the NHL. That franchise might be the worst in the NHL at all level. As for SJ, not only they are a last tier team but they will part ways with their 2 best players. Also any offers are on the table by at least 6 franchises for Meier, I highly doubt SJ accepts the offer that includes one or two up-coming UFA. So neither Johnson nor Portillo will be included in any trade involving Meier or Chychrun. Only a maybe as a last minute throw in, but not as an important piece of a package. They have no real value at the moment.
