@@Google_Does_Evil_Now going rate for the 3600 seems to be about 90 - $100. I think he will be very happy with that drop in upgrade at that price. Myself I found the 5600 for $129 (now 139) to replace my r5-1600. Gotta love steep discounts on older stuff when new comes out. :D Especially since any of these chips hold up just fine unless you also have a 3090+

Great job by Intel gen 13th delivering very decent price to performance, meanwhile Amd has been a lot disappointing with Zen 4, not only Amd is overheating but also the Cpu itself is overpriced, r9 7950x is $150-200 more than i9-13900K still Amd can't beat Intel in full benchmark, not to mention Intel still compatible with DDR4. Try Gamers Nexus their reviews are made with some of the best methodology going. I tested a 13600kf with DDR4 & 5, generally they performed within 1-2% of each other (games @1440p with 4070Ti) there are games which favour one or the other and overall DDR5 is slightly faster but I doubt you could tell one from the other. Great CPU drop the voltage and get 5.5GHz and it rarely hits 60°C while gaming (280mm AIO) in a case with good airflow. Some productivity tasks will get more benefit from DDR5. Use with a contact frame for best temps.

@@TechDeals If I missed it, my bad. But unless I am wrong, you just mention the temps and power are fine in the tech analisis near the end. There is no real stress test done, or charts. I mean, sure, you can see decent temperatures and power consumption while playing, but that is rarely the problem. When you render for a long time, how are those temps and power usage? The 13900k does very poorly in those scenarios, that's why I was wondering. I am sure the 13600K does much better, but is still worth knowing. Having said that, I have no doubt that recomenting the 13600K over the 7600X is a no brainer in almost all cases. The 13600K is arguably the best all around CPU on the market atm.

I really would like to know how the E-Cores will hold in the future considering they have no hyperthreading. Since I only upgrade when I actually need it, I am afraid that with intel that upgrade may come a lot sooner. Also price difference here on Europe made amd the clear path for me to follow. Will be rocking my 5800x in a week. Zen 4 + AM5 + DDR5 right now are ridiculously priced, I got a AM4 mobo + 32gb DDR4 + cooler + 5800X + 1tb SSD for half the price of a Zen 4 upgrade.

I was skeptical when intel was talking about 'frame consistency', but it appears like they somehow managed. Throughout just about every game (except tiny tina), I managed to see less frametime wobble, which should result in more consistent framerate. It hurt me seeing zen4 tie with 12th gen most of the time, looking like it's a whole generation newer then whatever ryzen was showing.

Ha! Yes, I am from Texas, it's "good enough" as far as I'm concerned :) We were honestly a bit shocked by the performance, the 12600K was nice, but it wasn't a clear knockout, who knew what this would add. It might just be "a bit better" and thus be boring, Intel has done it before. Thank you for the shout out, the notice is appreciated...

Great video! I think the 13600 is the star of this generation. Faster single core than ryzen, Enough multicore performance to go around, doesn’t have the stupid high power consumption of intels other stuff, is affordable with ddr4 options. If I was building a new (reasonably priced) gaming machine I would seriously consider this cpu. I feel like zen4 6 and 8 core offerings are too expensive for what they offer. And budget builders should seriously look at the $139 ryzen 5600.

Great review Tech, thanks. Now I see your point with 6 cores not enough. It seems like 6 cores are really done in few years frame time, speaking ofc for 1080p 144hz and 90hz 1440p. I'm pretty sad you didn't test it for 1440p (however I do understand an amount of time needed for that + probably most of users are 1080p anyway, nor to speak about bottlenecks in 1440p testing), but hopefully HU will do. Honestly I'm more interested in the performance of the budget cpus so this is more interesting to me than the 13900k. Though if/when the 13700k results come out, if intel adds even more e cores to the 14600k, I wonder at what point the difference in p cores will start to matter less. Laptops already had 6+8 configuration previously. Another question is if the new 13500 and 13400 will undercut the 13600k, though in practice. If they launch for 250 or 200 then it might actually be quite interesting. Supposedly the i3 range is just going to be an alder lake refresh though, not entirely sure how or why but.

Motherboard comparison between b650 and b660 would be interesting as well. Amd "could" pull a 7600 or 7500 situation again (or just straight up lower the price of the 7600x) but eh. DDR4 vs DDR5 is a thing as well, we're assuming either DDR5 has a reasonable price and/or that ddr4 doesnt have a large enough decrease in performance. Presumably once 14th gen comes out it wont matter since both intel and amd will be on ddr5 by then and theoretically the price and performance would have improved.

Something that I keep seeing said that isn't true, you don't need Windows 11 for 12th and 13th gen Intel CPU's. Windows 10s scheduler can tell the difference between CPU targets of different processing capability and schedule threads appropriately. Windows 10 will know that a P core has more capacity then an E core, and will schedule heavier workloads on the P core. If anything Windows 10 tends to prefer the P cores over the E cores and will only put stuff on them when the P cores already have stuff running. What Windows 10 doesn't really understand is energy usage, it would rather an idle P core to run your browser then assign it to an idle E core. Windows 11 can understand power usage and will instead assign tasks it deems not important to the E cores and leave as many P cores idle as possible to conserve power. The Process Lasso program lets sidestep all this and create your own profiles that assigns programs to the cores you specify. In windows 10 I have process lasso running all my browsers and discord on my E-cores leaving the P cores free for everything else.

Raptor Lake is impressive. I'd love to see a 13600K/13700K vs 5800X3D comparison @DDR4 3600 CL16 in gaming. Could be interesting to see what the deal is considering additional costs for cooling and power consumption as you can cool the 5800X3D with literally anything and you recommend an AIO for the 13600K. I don't expect Zen4 3D to be cheap - I expect it to give Raptor Lake what you call "an old fashioned butt whooping" and we probably have to pay for that. Ultra high end was never the reason for me to watch your videos. It was always about price/performance and I think this is what made you stand out from other channels. With ridiculous high ernergy prices in Europe and prices in general due to inflation, $/€ etc it`s more important than ever and I startet to look at performance/W more than just acquisition cost. Well, the 13th gen makes things different. I was looking at Zen-4 to replace my recently deceased 4790 system. I really wanted AMD to pull through. But aside from the generally higher price of the platform, M.2 SATA ports are very few a very far between. In the $200-$300 price range (Newegg), there are only two boards that have M.2 SATA. I realize that M.2 SATA might be on the way out given the price/perf of NVME. But I would be shocked if there weren't loads of people (like me) that have perfectly fine M.2 SATA drives they would like to continue using.
