BJ!! The man. If anyone heads down to Melbourne make sure you go into this store. I went in after a 35 year break and so many things changed. BJ took the time to walk me through many of the changes. Such a pleasure talking to him. I go into Hearns every trip to Melbourne and always "find" something to buy!! lol

On the next airbrushing tips can we have some guidance on pressure for spraying different items or styles. For example larger fill areas do you go up in pressure or do you choose a pressure your comfortable with and then just vary with your trigger? When using dual action I find it easy to vary my paint flow but difficult to vary my airflow. Possibly I'm using too much pressure (40psi)

The best compressor out there is the "SIL-AIR 20A", it's Made In Europe by an over 40yr old compressor-company, and is made of a refrigerator compressor, which means it's slightly louder than a whisper at 30db. (A whisper is about 30 dB, normal conversation is about 60 dB) It has an built in Tank, a Water separator and a Regulator = All you need.

Yes, and it is also horribly expensive, ranging from 2 to 5 times more expensive than the ones presented here. Not to mention that it is an oil compressor with all the maintenance that goes with it.

which of these two products do you recommend and why thank you very much ... Iwata Power Jet Pro (2x Sprint Power ^ ~ ^ Smart Technology ... Iwata Power Jet Plus Tubular Compressor
@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne
@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne 2 жыл бұрын
The two compressors are quite different. Iwata Power Jet Pro Large system best suited to a fixed studio. Less overall pressure. Not an issue if you are only using low to mid pressure, fine airbrushes. Larger holding tank. Quieter overall as the motor will not be running as much. Iwata Power Jet Pro Smaller system allows it to be moved around easily. Half the weight of above. High pressure ability to power high flow air guns as well as fine airbrushes. Smaller holding capacity in the tube so motor will run more often then above. I would choose the Iwata Power Jet Pro if space is not an option and it will live in a studio. Less noise overall. I would choose the Iwata Power Jet Pro if you are tight on space, need to move it around or require the higher air flow.

What's the max psi on the iwata ninja? On the iwata website specifications, it says max psi 40 but the description says says 1 - 18? Do you know specifically? The info would be much appreciated as I got it as a gift or should I get 1 that tells me the the psi? I will be spraying mr hobby laquers for gundam model kits. But everytime told me I would need 20 psi, so the 1 - 18 psi barely make it lol. I also just received a pack of Gpaints and it says to spray 15 psi to 40 psi. Soooo if it's actually 40 psi I will be so happy. But if it's 1 - 18 psi then I will have to play it safe and just get a compressor that can go higher.
@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne
@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne Жыл бұрын
I have used the Ninja but I don't know the actual pressure. It felt very similar to one I have had set at 20PSI. For regular use, I think the Ninja has enough pressure. The Ninja has a bleed valve to reduce the pressure as well. Usually I use 15PSI with quite thin paint. I have not used Gpaints so don't know how thick they are. I suggest you just try it and see how you go. If you struggle to spray the Gpaints then they may need to be thinned to go through your gun. If you have to use extreme pressures like 40PSI then you will need a more powerful compressor.
@curtcassese1243
@curtcassese1243 Жыл бұрын
@Hearns Hobbies thanks for the response. I have reached to a iwata rep. So basically, the compressor can go up to 40 psi and it will automatically shut off. There's no real way to get it up to that psi unless your modify it somehow. It set to 20 psi, so when you have the dial to max psi it's technically 20 psi but soon as you press down on your trigger the psi drops a tad bit. That's why they rate it at 18 psi well "15psi to 18psi". So atleast they clarified it for me lol. But so far works with 1 to 1 mix with my hobby, just recently received a massive shipment of gaias lol. Had to pic them up or I won't get any til next year haha. Any recommendations on thinning nazca primers and gaia metallics? Lol. Anyways thank you for the help I appreciate it.

Any thoughts on the iwata freestyle battery based air compressor ?
@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne
@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne 3 жыл бұрын
The Iwata Freestyle will be great if you need to travel offsite to paint where there is no mains power. It has much less power and less adjustable compared to other compressors in the same price range. If you are setting up in your home studio or workshop I suggest any of the mains powered compressors in the video will be superior in operation.

Hi Ethan. It depends on what your budget is. The 2Spray (toaster) is a great compressor for the price. If you want the ultimate home compressor then the Iwata Smart Jet Pro is all you will need. Any leakage from the connectors will greatly affect the pressure. Use teflon plumbers tape on the threads to seal them. Usual operating pressure setting is 10-20 psi.
