After extensive research, I bought the Emonda through Project One. Pretty long lead time, like 3.5 months, expecting it in Feb 2021...Also my shop is swapping out the handlebars for the Madone set-up which are adjustable and they have an aero bar option (I am a triathlete and will be using this bike for training, so I would prefer the aero position for much of the rides). Unfortunately, you cannot just order the alternative bars through Project One...Looking forward to get it out on the rode. I have Cervelo P-5 Disc Tri bike and my old road bike was BMC Roadmachine.

Emonda has a T47 standard bottom bracket , so yes, it IS threaded. Personally I would never buy a bike that does not have a threaded bottom bracket. I hate creaking press fit bottom brackets. Personally, I love the look and ride of the Tarmac. I own a custom 2018 Emonda SLR8 sram red etap, but I would trade it in a heartbeat for a new S Works Tarmac. Great comparision video thanks! Price wise an Emonda with Dura Ace Di2 or Sram Red AXS Etap would be same price as the S Works Tarmac.

Nice comparison! I've had 2 Emonda's. A 2017 Trek Emonda SL6 Pro which I really loved but I did upgrade to the same one you reviewed here but the upgraded model, the SLR 9 SRAM Red eTap model. I had to wait about 4 months for it but oh so happy that I have it now. Super light and that Amethyst Project One color is pretty amazing. Also, yes the BB is threaded. I'm not a fan of dropped seat stays (and for that reason prefer the Émonda). The stem spacers are not terribly elegant, either. Otherwise lovely, but way overpriced bikes. Tubeless is beautiful on paper, but is junk in practice: it requires pumping up the tyres before every ride, and in many cases doesn't even allow for steep, low turns without leaking like mad. Also, requires regular expensive refills. The real catch of the technology is to rip off the customer - that's all.
@markn45263 жыл бұрын
I could be wrong, but don't dropped seat stays make the rear end more compliant? More aero though.
@LeoInterHyenaem3 жыл бұрын
@@markn4526 In theory, at least, they do. One could argue that the marginal added compliance is a slight compromise in durability (but probably not an issue for anyone but heavier riders - a segment, which I, unfortunately, happen to represent). But the real reason of my preference for the traditional, but compact design - is the aesthetics. To me, they simply look better. For instance, I prefer the looks of the Aethos / the Salsa WarBird to the Tarmac on that account alone.
@markn45263 жыл бұрын
@@LeoInterHyenaem I'm also of the taller/heavier variety as well. The minimal aero advantage of dropped seat stays means little me, but I'll take any rear end rigidity advantage I can get. I prefer the more traditional aesthetic too.
@LeoInterHyenaem3 жыл бұрын
@@markn4526 I concur. As for compliance, the lightest suspension seatposts (i.e., the Ergon CF3 Pro, Cane Creek EeSilk) will fully compensate for the compliance of dropped seatstay bikes, and the heavier, but very comfortable alternatives, such as the RedShift ShockStop or even the ThudBusters in a traditional frame will make dropped seatstay bikes appear (a few among which don’t even accept round cross-section seatstays) downright uncomfortable (at a considerable weight penalty, of course).

$9400 for a Force bike is ridiculous
@GCPerformance183 жыл бұрын
it is very expensive, and it might be a little cheaper but thats the prcie the dealer told me when i was leaving which I thought was expensive but then you add a special paint job. so who knows

Why are bikes so expensive
@GCPerformance183 жыл бұрын
These are just these models in particular. They make cheaper bikes too starting at $800 but no where near the amount of technology on them or the nicer components. Just think like a car, how they have different packages for more money. Same thing

The spacer stack on the Emonda is ugly as hell. People really should get bikes with a geometry they can handle.

I made a decision based on $$$. I went with the sl7 etap. Blew the tarmac out of the water at that price point. And I love the trek/bontrager brand , the color schemes trek uses. Either bike would have done but i saved 2k by going that route. The pro was like $8300 as aposed to $5500 for the sl7

Specialized S Works is Top Gun, Emonda is 3 RD Tier!! That seat post on the Emonda is Total shit, like Giant TCR! I hate the design and can’t stand it! Emonda is a great Bike, with the biggest exception the integrated seat post!
@drchris1033 жыл бұрын
Isn't the TCR extremely liked by a lot of people who purchase the bike? I've seen only good things about the TCR that most def outweigh the minor flukes it has if it has any.
@GCPerformance183 жыл бұрын
im not a big of the tcr at all I dont like the look the body or the stem on the bike Giant is liked by alot of people because of there produciton and how much proiduct they produce. They are the cheaper of all the big brands which means they give you alot of bang for the buck but alot of people ride them so more people want to stray away from that.
@drchris1033 жыл бұрын
@@GCPerformance18 Understandable. I was just curious since my next bike is a possibly a 2021 TCR. Definitely don’t have the budget for a $10k bike since I’m still in uni but one day.
