I was looking at this thinking it would make cleaning blankets and pillows easier. My worry was finding parts if something should happen 5yrs from now. Never seen an impeller only washer before. I need aggressive agitation so showing the washer in action was very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to post this review. You just saved me $1000. 👍🏽

Hello! Which washer have you ended up buying? I’m looking for a washer with aggressive agitator as well.
@s.linn5086 Жыл бұрын
@@charlenen.276 If you want "aggressive agitation" you absolutely, absolutely want a front load washer. There's a reason if you check out the laundry room in any hotel, hospital, or institutional setting you'll see *only* front load machines - the wash action flexes and scrubs fabric and drops it into a concentrated detergent solution which pushes through the fibers and cleans orders of magnitude more effectively than any top loader, even old top loaders.

@@OreoTime1 you should not use fabric softener. It gunks up all the internal parts. Theres a vid here on utube showing a tear down of a washer n all the slime accumulated from fabric softener thru out the components. Use vinegar, dryer sheets or wool,dryer balls. Save your machine!

We love ours! In our first load, we nearly filled it up with clothes... And it looked like yours, barely moving. But, with normal sized loads, the agitator does fine. No, it's not as "agressive" as our old washer, but it moves the clothes fine. And we love the spin cycle. The clothes come out nearly dry. I recall washing really large loads in our old washer. That agressive agitator couldn't do much then either. The key is to not overfill the washer.... New or old.
@Mr-Chris2 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind, that I filled it up about 1/3 of the way. It looks like a lot of clothes, but it really isn't. The washer water level raised the clothes to that level.

Omg. I was about to do a whole $1000 on buying this. Maytag did a yellow towel test to show what the agitator does. Showed the value. But I have a lot of clothes that need gentle cycles. So this idea “REMOVABLE” agitator would be sufficient. Nah. Thanks for this video. It was so helpful.
@gg.69672 жыл бұрын
Hi Jada, the Whirlpool produced video shows a Maytag Commercial washer for residential and light commercial use versus a Speed Queen Commercial washer for residential and light commercial use. This Maytag video does not use this washer, it also shows Maytag Commercial vs Speed Queen TR Series. And it should have compared the Speed Queen TC Series which has similarities with agitation. The Maytag Commercial and Speed Queen TC5 are excellent product, either one would work for you.
@gg.69672 жыл бұрын
It does not matter which mfg. outfit you choose they are subjected to the same regulations, hence Speed Queen TR5 which is still a very good product based on your needs, are you retiring with exercise gear as your main soil. Then most machines will work. The commercial variant allows hot tap water ,bypassing a mixing/temperature valve.

We were looking at this model also, but we got turned off. we were worried about when you take the agitator out there’s a hole in the bottom and soap can easily get into it causing mold. They should have some kind of cap where it stops soap getting in.

I don't think that's an issue. There are nooks and crannies everywhere for such water and soap. The entire drum assembly drains water into the catch below. It's a mass of wet.

The key is to buy one with a dual action agitator. For some reason this is only on the lower end models. I bought the base whirlpool washer and it has very good agitation. Not as good as an older direct drive but good for a modern washer. Almost bought a Maytag that had higher capacity but I watched a video and the agitation was poor, just like this one.

I bought the large 5.2 2 in 1, replacing a 1996 Kenmore I love this washer....I am not sure what settings you are using, but the agitator on mine is torquey and robust. I put a load of towels or mixed load in and they are whipping around like crazy I remove the agitator for bedsheets and comforter and use it with everything else. The water level goes up to nearly top of the agitator on max fill, which is over 3.5 cubic feet, more than my old washer. I think since the 2020 "Vid pandemic, the manufacturers have been able to have the hot setting as true hot. Maybe its because I live in AZ and its summer but the hot setting is at least 130 degrees +. If you are going to get this model, buy a 2023 + and the 5.2 size, you wont be disappointed. The washer lets you customize it to the way you like it, there are so many variations you can use. Well done Whirlpool.

Thanks for the video, I saw that at an appliance store and thought what a stupid idea. why wouldn't they give a real snap on agitator however, I will probably never see good agitation on a washer again. I had a whirlpool from the 80's that was the best even though I replaced two motors, a timer, two sets of agitator dogs, and a plastic gear that had worn down in the transmission for 30 something years. So for now on it's all about micro switches ,leds , funny noises, and circuit boards.

How much detergent should I be using in deep water?
@nickcavolli30722 жыл бұрын
Honestly my issue is just how many buttons it takes to start a load and how many extra settings you need to turn on or off. The washer is fine. No issues besides caked on powder detergent that requires a second cycle. My issue is with the matching dryer and the steam sensor issue. Brand new only way to run a load throw a full cycle is a timed dry. Everything else shuts off within 3-7 minutes due to steam sensor. So essentially cannot use any other cycle.
@vettechmom60562 жыл бұрын
I have this washer and I hate it. I have soap residue left on clothes sometimes, and sometimes they come out with DRY spots !! You have to always use deep water and extra rinse in order for the clothes to come fully clean. Even small loads require deep water. I like my clothes to be completely submerged, especially when the agitator does not move your clothes around. If I could go back in time I'd watch videos first to see how they work. Sadly I was in a rush to buy a machine and went with the best deal instead of the best washer.
@s.linn5086 Жыл бұрын
You probably won't be happy to hear that the *best* way to wash clothes is to tumble them in a concentrated detergent solution... i.e. a front load washer. Americans hate them because we're notoriously stubborn and refuse to accept things that the entire rest of the developed world has known for decades. lol

Run this machine on BULKY ITEMS Cycle (uses the most water), 30 minute presoak, & Deep water. That is the meanest and cleanest cycle according to the quick manual. So far so good but it's definitely an adjustment from the old school washers.
@s.linn5086 Жыл бұрын
More water just dilutes detergent and reduces friction between garments. You want *just* enough water to saturate everything, and then flex the fibers. Only a front load washer does this though, and since Americans are shamefully stubborn, we'll have to just continue guzzling water and electricity for *worse* wash performance. That's ok, being needlessly wasteful is the only real sense of "Freedom" we have left in America!

100% agreed. This removable agitator nonsense is the stupidest marketing BS Whirlpool has ever done. I love Whirlpool and they make fantastic appliances, but they're using the majority's ignorance on how a washing machine works against them as a selling point. This is a HE washplate washer, a thousand percent. The removable section does absolutely nothing, and no more than the fixed spiral agipeller's you find in other WP machines and other brands are using. They are NOT dual-action rotating augers like the old school machines that helped with rollover. And unfortunately, WP is running with this gimmick to the point that you can't buy a top loader without it. If I needed to buy a machine now, Whirlpool/Maytag is probably the only way I'd go for a top-load, but I'd order the standard impeller as a separate service part and install it myself.
@martinbirdwell79862 жыл бұрын
I just saw how this machine washes with the agitator in and it doesn't move the clothes, if I'm not mistaken if you use just the impeller it gives a reverse rollover action which means instead of the agitator moving the clothes towards it the impeller does the opposite which is pushing clothes up the center of the basket and out towards the sides creating a blooming wash action the impeller washes the clothes like scrubbing them on a washboard
@jordanfalbo879818 күн бұрын
I think with that big dark load of clothes, you overfilled it because yes that agitator is very soft on the clothing, but if you didn't over fill the tub, the clothes would touch the bottom of the washer, and that would have more rubbing and more washing.

Agitators are not aggressive on clothes, they are effective at washing since they roll the clothes over and move water around. A good Agitator only contacts clothes for a short period of time. Impellers are aggressive on clothes cause they make direct contact on the clothes 100% of the time. The clothes are not suspended in water with impellers and HE washers.

Also it would not stop sensing and start washing. The next one still rips up clothing, and I have to fill it up with a house from basement sink to the top of the agitator just to get it to go to the wash cycle. Will no longer warranty the washer. 1st one purchased 11/22. So we had this replacement one since 6/23 or so. Can’t believe there is so many good reviews with this model! @s.linn5086 Жыл бұрын
No, it's a gimmick through and through. I realize an agitator seems like it would get in the way for bulky items - and it does. But the thing is, it doesn't actually improve or change the wash action for non-bulky items, which means there's literally no reason for it to ever be used. It's a gimmick used by a notoriously un-innovative appliance brand to convince uninformed consumers that they've been doing something with their appliance designs. The fact that they still use single speed induction motors on their washers and their dryers have not changed *literally at all* in 63 years, shows their true colors.
