So I have one in black, brand new. I too was concerned because the right door was mounted about a 1/4 Ince higher than the freezer door. I checked the install manual and sure enough they address that and indicate it is intentional and the door will even up by itself after you load stuff into the door shelves, especially milk and other liquids. But you can set it yourself as you said if needed, quite easily.

I bought this fridge 3 months ago and from day one, it has been loud. I called Whirlpool twice to see if this is normal. The first time I called, their advice was to have a service rep look at it. If the noise is normal, the service call would not be covered under warranty. The second time I called, they said they would send a service rep and there would be no charge. Well it's normal. The service rep knew the model and said it was the airflow through the freezer. Apparently this fridge is not well insulated and it's going to be noisy. If you're thinking buying this model, hear it run first.

Have you checked the refrigerator temperature in the drawers? We had severe food spoilage in the drawers. When we moved the thermometers from the open shelves to the closed drawers, the temperature is in the spoilage range. The lowest of the three drawers has the hottest temp. Essentially this model has three drawers that one cannot store food that needs to be kept at refrigerator temperatures. The top two are temperature safe when the temperature setting is set at max cooling. Installed by our appliance store in April 2023. The freezer keeps good temps at the middle cooling setting. Thermometers used by ThermoWorks, model Spot.

Sorry, but the freezer is the most important unit in the side by side. During the pandemic, I stocked everything in the freezer. And there’s nothing “unfresh” about frozen vegetables.

I regretted i got the french style refrigerator in 2014. It was very bulky (outside), room is very useless with only 2 shelf wide open. I like this one 1:40 with more shelfs to separate items.

HATE this refrigerator. Had it for 7 months. First month it was O.K. (except for very little room in the side-by-side freezer due to icebox taking up one whole shelf). We don't have kids...so know there is NO room in the freezer for a big family with kids. After 2 months - constant freezer burn inside the frozen meat packages. Thought maybe it was because of packages traveling in the summer heat (purchased late May in the U.S.). Now it's cold and the same problem. ABT (in the U.S. where we bought it in Illinois) came out to inspect and said there is nothing wrong with the fridge or seal - said it is because of the packaging. All the packaging is different from different vendors and grocery stores. Our last fridge, an LG, never did this. Our fridge before that, a GE never did this. Additionally, the water spout drips water down the front, leaving a constant water stain. The LG died and due to the Pandemic and supply chain issues- this was the only fridge in stock that we could get delivered in a few days. Waste of money. Will keep it for another year or so but will want to replace it when supplies and options are more plentiful.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I just got this refrigerator delivered last week and am already concerned about the configurations (from an internal space perspective). I definitely agree with you about the supply chain issues impacting available options. Hopefully and prayerfully, we'll be able to come up with some workable hacks in the meantime.

I don't mean to laugh, Susan, but that's exactly the reason we too are stuck with this refrigerator. Our LG french door failed after ONLY 3 years after a compressor failure. We loved the LG overall, except the fact that it died, and service to repair it would have taken several MONTHS. We shopped around, and nothing was in stock around May of 2022. This fridge model was, and so, we basically had no other option but to buy this and we hate it. It has awful build quality and no frills of any kind. Shelves aren't even adjustable. Of course, each shelf is the exact same height, and too short by often half an inch to fit many items. The water and ice dispensers are both awful as well. The Ice Maker CONSTANTLY stops making ice and requires a hard reset several times a month now. It's sad that we spent $1,700 on this refrigerator and after 8 months are already shopping around to see if we can ditch this thing. All our other appliances are Whirlpool/Maytag so I can't put into words just how disappointed I am in this refrigerator. I urge others to stay away from it if you can.

And I fully concur that the Whirlpool shelves are the worst - I have to lay our wine and water bottles down sideways because there is not enough clearance and shelf height can't be adjusted. My sister has this fridge too - and hates it for all the same reasons.

DIY Pinto I’m gonna guess you’re single or maybe dating someone. When you have a family you absolutely need a freezer. When I hunt I need a freezer, when we buy a side of beef from a local farm we need a freezer. When we want ice cream we need a freezer, when we pick fresh strawberries we freeze some for the year. I mean we eat fresh 90% of the time, but when you have a daughter that has sleepovers and like ice cream and frozen pizzas and cold drinks with ice a freezer goes a very long way. We save money by buying a package deal from the butcher of fresh cut chicken, beef etc.. when we go scalloping and for lobster season we freeze a lot of our catch. I mean the uses are endless.

With the way the water line is routed on the exterior of the fridge, the dispensed water for us is generally slightly warmer than ambient temperature a lot of the time.

Nice looking refrigerate, am 2 day in new. The vegetables drawers do not open easily they are plastic on plastic sliders.. The manual says 2-3 to fill the ice, I hope that is not true. There is an almost identical model to this one with the Amana brand name on it. Both Amana and Kenmore refrigerators are made by Whirlpool. I really do not understand why Whirlpool does not just get rid of Amana and Kenmore and sell ALL of their appliances under the name Whirlpool. Especially with regard to Kenmore, which was a Sears brand and now Sears is gone for the most part.

I have a whirlpool side by side cold spot.. would you look under the bottom of your left door (near the floor).. are the wires connecting underneath and can be chewed through when opening and closing the door? Hi. Thank you for the review. I was hoping you could go into how to replace the drawers and liners? I moved into a new home a bought the fridge the last tenant had which is this model. The last tenant paid a maid to come clean and she took apart the entire fridge. She took apart the gray rubber lips that are attached to The glass and left them all outside the fridge. The old tenant came by and she couldn’t even figure out how to put them back in the fridge correctly. I looked up the instructions but not knowing what lip attaches to what piece of glass in what liner in what order, I can’t figure out how to put the drawers in. I have looked up KZbin videos but no one shows this model. It looks like the glass part is what is hanging the plastic liner and that is what holds the drawer? But I can’t get it right?? If you could take apart the drawer and glass part that would be so extremely helpful. I’m about try and figure out how to call a fridge guy and ask for help but I don’t even know how to do that. Lol. The roller wheels stay fixed. You can turn a collar clockwise or counterclockwise to raise or lower the fridge. Usually located close to the wheel assembly.

I don't think there is a catch pan. My last refrigerator didn't have one either. I think it's because catch pans can get pretty icky if not emptied frequently. My Dad started adding a paper towel to absorb some of the extra moisture on his refrigerator, but a small sponge could probably work as well.

A refrigerator review turned into a commentary on frozen foods. Yikes. For one, there's plenty of good, healthy nutrition to be had from foods stored in the freezer. It's a matter of what the foods are and what they're being stored in. It also saves a ton of money when you can preserve foods that don't have to be eaten right away. Looks like you bought a larger frig than you needed. Would be been better off with a French door unit where the frig section is the priority.

Not understanding your comment about freezers becoming irrelevant. With the world population ever growing, freezing and preserving food is becoming more important than ever. There simply aren’t enough resources for every human on earth to eat fresh food every day. Overall these are pretty decent refrigerators.

When you raise,hunt,and butcher your own meat freezers will never become outdated. Not everything can be done "fresh". I really would like to know how well the freezer works. YOU'RE KIDDING RIGHT???? You just passed over the most negative part of this unit. You even mentioned non nonchalantly, "The water spicket" (it spills on the floor) That and the ice that remains in the shoot is a SAFETY HAZARD! There is no catch pan and the water goes on the floor causing people to slip and fall (I know as it happened to me) Even the Certified Appliance repair company said 1st thing that it was a POOR DESIGN! Are you being paid by Whirlpool to give these reviews? The shelves inside are not adjustable, there is about a 4 inch space in the back of the shelves that cause things to drop to the bottom. AGAIN, WORST REFRIGERATOR I HAVE EVER HAD in 50 of my 68 years of life!

I have to agree with you. This fridge is one of the most regrettable purchases I've ever made. I've had Whirlpool for most of my appliance purchases as an adult, and despise this refrigerator with a passion.

If the fridge does what it's suppose to which is keep you stuff cold that's all that matters. I bought a really expensive Samsung with screen and cameras and that thing does all those things but doesn't keep my food cold! I"m done with LG and Samsung as far as appliances. I have a Whirlpool fridge in my garage, whirlpool double oven and whirlpool dishwasher. They all do the job they are meant to do and give me zero issues. I soooo regret buying that expensive Samsung fridge. it's pretty but that's about it.

@@jaxxboss1 TLDR: No, the money went towards Trex for the front deck. Long answer: Wow, I didn't think anyone actually read these comments. Very cool, well here is the update, nope, I did not end up buying this one. I live in a mobile home (premanufactured home) and the space I have for a fridge is crazy small. I'm probably going to be knocking out a block of wood at the base of my cabinets that are above the fridge area just so I can get over 69 inches of clearance. I'm currently looking at the GE 17.5 cu. ft. Counter-Depth French-Door Refrigerator (Model GYE18JMLES) from Costco. It seems tiny at 17.5 cubic feet but it is everything I wanted, French doors on top and a drawer freezer. It's a bit pricy but we can just keep saving until we can afford it.

I have this same Refrigerator after 6 months, during covid, it started making noise. Ended up being ice buildup on the evaporator fan. Now every month it is doing the same thing and no one can repair it, or figure out why it is doing this.

I had one exactly like that but in white. I have to return it back to Lowes because I can't stand the noise that it makes non-stop almost all day long. Sounds like a small vacuum cleaner in monotone continuously running. Why did you not include that in your review? Are you being paid by Whirlpool to do this review because you're not being honest about the noise that it makes. I'm surprised because the other two Whirlpool Refs that I've got are not as noisy as this new model. I'm done now with Whirlpool especially this model.

It's possible that what's considered noisy to one person isn't considered noisy to another. ...Also may depend on how much time someone actually spends in the kitchen. I have an old-school galley kitchen, so I'm pretty much only in the kitchen when I'm cooking or putting away groceries. I understand how refrigerator noise could be annoying for people who have the newer, more open floor plans where the kitchen is used for entertaining.

This refrigerator is extremely noisy. I believe it's a fan that moves the cold air from freezer to fridge. Its very very annoying. I've seen a lot of reviews for this model and they all say the same thing. Everytime you open the door the noise (fan) stops. In the kitchen it sounds like the humming of the fan.in the other hff e room it sounds like a motor going bad. Bought this used from a woman selling her house. Wish I had never gone to see this fridge.

Whirlpool Customer support does not exist. DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL. When the product doesnt work. No technicians to help. They dont show up for appointments. @@rjwest6216 The wire arm does not start the ice maker and on the newer models there is no arm. There is an on and off switch under the left side of the ice maker. You can easily reach it by removing the ice bin but I can fit my fingers in without removing it. The newer ones have a piece of white plasic that pushes upwards when the ice gets to the full level so the machine stope making ice. It also states many other things when people actually read the owners manul, such as: 1) It takes up to 24 hours for your new fridge to start making ice - 2) You are to flush the water dispensor fully to get all air out of it. Basically just fill about 10 -15 galsses of water and dump them in the sink. Also same once you have ice - fill up a few galsses and dump your ice in sink. This also primes the filter and removes anything toxic from the lines. 4) ALL of these fridges come with the right hand side door slightly higher then the left door at delivery. This is because the fridge door is lighter then the freezer door and as you fill that door with products it will adjust downwards and start to line up with the left hand door. If it is still off there are two ways to adjust it. There is a leveling process and a height adjusment process...leveling is done by adjusting screws on the hindge and height adjustment is done by adjusting a nut down on the right hand side leg by the floor. Between those two you can get the doors, handles and everything perfectly aligned. Just a little FYI for everybody ;-)

Nope, the more recent models have a different ice maker design than the ones from a few years ago. Whirlpool changed supplies and not for the better. The "new" ice maker design has a plastic arm instead of the metal, and it is the most awful, most unreliable ice maker I have ever owned of any refrigerator. It requires constant resets to produce ice!!
