Hello Bryan! Thank you so much for this video. I am a 68 year old woman and your video helped me to troubleshoot what was wrong with my ice maker. I followed your instructions and was able to get it to reset!! You are awesome!

That was really well explained. You addressed test issues that I haven't seen elsewhere. Will tackle my icemaker tomorrow. My only suggestion is to turn off the background music, at least at the sections when you are listening for the valve click. It must be fairly quiet and I don't know what I'm hoping to hear from your video. Thanks Bryan!

My town had a major main break last week and we went a couple days with no water. I have no ice now but I'm thinking it's because I finally exhausted the ice that was in my tray and the fill tube froze while the water was cut off. I'll have to check after I get off work, but it makes sense based on this video and your experience.

One trick I have used on several "no water" freezers is around the back where the fill valves are located swap the connectors for the water fill and Ice maker fill valves then go around to the front and momentarily press the water button like you are filling a glass only now the Ice maker should get water if everything is working. This makes cycling the valve easy from the front of the fridge. Just remember to switch them back when finished troubleshooting.
@trenthelms5 ай бұрын
Nice trick! It helped me to eliminate ice as a possible cause. I have filled the tray with water using the water dispenser button. Now it's wait and see to create ice. One of those connecters, has a tab that looks defective. Perhaps the connector has worked loose and is causing the ice water valve not to work. Hope to confirm soon.
@trenthelms5 ай бұрын
The ice maker is working again. I changed the filter which did not seem to help. But one of the two water water valve connectors looks deformed. I swapped the connectors as suggested and ice was made overnight. I worked with the connector tab of the deformed connector to ensure a good connection, and powered on and off the fridge a couple of times. I also pressed the reset button on the ice maker a couple of times. It's working now when it didn't work before. The ice maker has been working all day today. By the way, has suggested above.. swap the connectors back after troubleshooting, I did not do that and I had a puddle of water on the kitchen floor this morning.

Good video. Man ud think when they design these refrigerators, they'd work out all the bugs. I have a new Hisense refrigerator bottom freezer model, and the ice maker worked at first for about a week, then wouldn't discharge the ice. Then it would, then it wouldn't. The support outfit knew 0 . They read the manual that comes with the unit to help you. I have the type of ice maker with the arm that goes down to check the bucket before dumping. They didn't even know that. I just watched a video before yours, to find that out. Guess I'm learning. Anyway, I defrosted the ice maker like they suggested and suddenly it's making ice again. Crumby design to me. Anyway thanks for the video. They mostly do help. ✌️

Great video. If the ice maker cycles ok with the jumper wire but the water still doesn’t flow is the issue with the electronics inside the ice maker and is this the point when I replace it? I have made sure there’s no ice blockage and the water does flow inside the refrigerator dispenser. Thank you.

There are many other possible reasons for a ice maker not to work. Mr. Cole only addressed one of them. In my case it was the wire shutoff arm that was not properly inserted in a small hole in the front timing mechanism. How do you know if it's not properly inserted? If you rotate the arm to the UP/OFF position it should stay there. If it doesn't then you can assume that the arm is not properly installed.

Hey Brian. I went thru the checks and ice maker cycled with jumper wire. Don’t appear to be getting water. Nothing frozen that I can see or feel. What’s next ??

The AC in our house went out a week ago. The needed part is due any time now. Since then the house has been about 80-90 degrees. We have been going through ICE. Yesterday it stopped making ice. Would the outside temp have an effect on the inside temp of the freezer or do you think we burned it out?

How do take the icemaker out of diagnosis mode? If you leave the jumper wire in, does it just cycle through nonstop?

Hello, it's really well explained. I've question about removing ice. Can defrosting for day or two help melting ice? And not to remove ice maker? Or ice has be removed manually? Thanks again

My mold was full and frozen solid. What would be the cause of this? Took it apart, nothing stuck in the inlet line. Cleaned and dried the mold. Turned the bail up to wait until the freezer cools back down to zero before I try to turn the ice maker on again.

Try doing this in a side by side freeze/fridge. There is no room! Cant get a drill in. Need to use a short ratchet with a short extension. Then, try grabbing that wire and detaching it... can't grip it easily. Grrr... didn't know I'd be changing this when I bought it. Never getting another side by side... next will be freezer in the bottom! Good video though.. lines up with others I've seen.

Pretty good instructions. Couple things. Would be nice to tell people who dont have water inside the refrigerator on how to check if they have water going to the ice maker. Last but not least.. more of a tease than anything. But you told people right away to unplug the unit. If you do then you won't be able to run the test that you have listed.. otherwise thanks for the video...

Hi , same model Icemaker stopped working, ice remained in the icemaker. I had discovered an open freezer door during one of the real humid days , which is frequently an issue in my household. Not sure if a build up of moisture/ice initiated this issue. I removed the icemaker and when I removed the cover I noticed the right hand side(closest to middle of freezer) heater connection had melted/deformed the plastic around the connection... the copper metal connections seem fine .. should I just dry it up and reinstall ? was moisture shorting the connection - resistance, heat etc ? could the non-functioning heater damage the motor or is it protected when something in the cycle does not work ? Thanks, Rob

Your comment at 6:19 is incorrect. You said to push the tabs on either side to release the wiring harness. To release the harness it is necessary to pry the holders on top and bottom of the plug with a flat head screwdriver, then pull the plug out.
