DJI Mavic Pro - it's biggest problem fixed using an external USB power pack

Not really .... There are MUCH BETTER tablet holders out there which will allow you to hold the Remote in a very comfortable way and fly with much more precision. I am surprised, that a "pro" like this guy is actually using his iPad in this way.

Thanks, I’m working with a Mavic Pro my son in law gave me. I was looking for a larger replacement controller battery because mine seems good for about 30 min. But I do have a 10K mah batt pack with connectors so you’ve solved my problem, many thanks!

Good tip that. I use the same battery pack you have there for the ver6 same reason but I did not have it set up as neatly as that. I like the Velcro idea. I will change my set up now. Thank you.

I've hardwired a 9000mah lipo to the controller battery terminals inside. It's a lot neater.

Maybe the battery is just totally empty and the charger isn't working correctly. You need to swap things around to find where the problem is.

Hi, I'm interested to know your thoughts on DJI batteries. I think the flight battery is the weak point with any DJI drone, as Lipos have a short lifespan and when DJI stop producing them, which I believe they have for the Mavic Pro, the drone essentially becomes unusable. Do you know if there are any reliable third party batteries which will work reliably? Thanks

Do not use third party batteries. They are very questionable even if they might be cheaper and will invalidate any warranty if there's a problem of crash. I've been using various DJI batteries since 2016 with no significant issues.

Great soluttion!! What do you think about using discharged battery ( often around 20%) from mavic in my pocket conecting via usb adapter and usb cable. I havent that big power bank so I wonder to try bith those mavis battery...

hi whirly bloke the USB C 3.0 Data Cable, is wronge fitting for my tablet, mine is a micro fiting, can you help me as i dont know a great deal about thes data cables, and would not know the data (spec) for the dji control/tablet and i dont want to get the wrong (spe data cable) dont want my drone droping out of the sky so to speak,,,, any help would be great thanks stay safe

Just use a regular micro USB A cable, not a USB C.

I’d really appreciate any help trying to figure out why my Mavic controller says its charging but wont go above 1%. I don’t know if this is some software upgrade issue or if its a dead battery inside the controller that no longer is able to charge. Any ideas? DJI really pisses me off.

If the controller is old it may be the batteries are shot. You could try replacing them - never done it myself - or always power it off the external pack. Maybe look out for a used one on eBay.

I'm having a problem at the moment where my controller refuses to charge past 1%. It must be a problem with the controller itself as the cables and plugs etc charge my other devices. Would you think that using an external battery pack like this would be an acceptable fix for flying now? The last thing I'd want to do is have the controller shut down mid-flight. Thanks.

The controller is a sealed unit, but there are some tear down videos if you are brave. No idea if you can get a replacement battery though. I'd try cleaning the connector with IPA and checking it or try another charger. The connector is a know problem because it's keyed, but not very well, so it's easy to damage because you can push it in the wrong way. Using an external power pack is worth trying. If it fails, the Mavic will RTH. I fear the you may need to get a replacement controller or look out for one on ebay.

Nope. The iPad doesn't charge while the port is in use. An Android device does though. But since Android doesn't properly implement the full USB stack, the user experience isn't great. Whether you like Apple or not, IOS devices work much better because of the way they manage USB and Bluetooth connectivity.

@@mbikov It's an iPad thing not a controller thing. But there's nothing to stop the controller using the charge port while it's connected to the iPad with the USB cable.
