CONSIDER YOURSELVES CHALLENGED!!! I can't believe you haven't done it already but I'd like to see you guys either on this channel or the whiskey tribe pair one bourbon, one scotch and one beer together. I've been trying to learn how to distinguish notes as I've gotten more into whiskey thanks to these two magnificent bastards. Daniel's advice is A+. I used to get just one bottle at a time and I'd be completely lost. Now I always get multiple bottles and compare them. The difference between Aberlour A'bunadh and Suntory Toki is so great that anyone can immediately start recognizing specific notes. At the very least you'll be start to understand the differences between certain types of whiskey which is a good foundation as well. I'm still very much a beginner, but I feel with the help of Daniel, Rex, and the rest of the Whiskey Tribe I'm getting there.

Hey guys, really appreciate your videos.. I was a very casual Johnny Walker Black "on rocks" type of a guy and after watching one of your episodes, it went from casual JWB "on rocks" to frequent single malt "neat".... Although this adventure did cost me a ton of money, but the first bottle that I got was Laphroaig 10 cask strength and I never looked back.... Peated whiskey is officially my favorite, but I am trying to train my pallet... I have a long way to go..... P.S Yesterday I went to a local liquor store, where I have never been before and they had a great scotch inventory, I spotted a 16 YO Longmorn the discontinued bottle on the shelf and bought it without blinking an eye, it was their last bottle.... Now I am debating to taste it or just preserve it for the next 10-15 years... What are your thoughts on that?

Just had a thought since you were talking about looking for flavors within a whiskey. One idea for a dry week would be having a day where you recreate whiskey flavors, like blending pear juice with cinnamon, coconut milk, and apricot, etc. I think you have done a hijinks riddled version on the other channel, but trying to truly achieve a non-alcoholic equivalent would be wonderous.

Hello sir and hairless mooch. I went to Islay back in June. It took me thirty hours to get there between driving, flying and riding on the ferry. Anyway I’ll get to the point. I indulged I’m quite a few fancy whiskeys while I was on that glorious Island, unfortunately after taking my first tour at Kilchoman I couldn’t get the smell and taste of malting and fermenting barley out of my palate. It was so bad that every whiskey I smelled and tasted had that distinct sour smell and taste to it. It took quite a while for this to go away. Have either of you ever experienced this? How would I combat it?

I wish more distilleries did the 200ml bottles. Especially craft American. There are so many that due to rarity and small production are priced at 50-80/bottle, that I would love to try (and also to support my local businesses), but cannot justify that much for something that you cannot find any reviews or info on to know if it's gonna be worth it.

Hey guys, got a question for y'all. So like Rex, I was sick last week, but because I have poor judgment, I still dipped into the whisk(e)y. As expected, my tasting experience was somewhat dulled, but oddly enough, certain flavors started jumping out more. For example, I finally started picking up dill in a rye and the brighter notes of Laphroaig. Now I can't really endorse drinking while you're sick, but since you've said to try whiskey "all the ways", do you think there's something to this or was it just a coincidence that I was sick as my palate was opening up?
