@stevekirk85462 ай бұрын
The extended format is a big hit with me Ryan! Beautifully produced to a very professional standard. Tells the whole story of your flight in considerable detail covering most aspects involved. Interesting to see your ground support team in action and the pre flight preparations - I notice when you towed the Kodiak out on to the apron you parked it with the same precision on the paint mark as you do when you taxi in! The coverage of the in flight procedures was excellent and extensive. The Marawaka Valley is a beautful place especially seen from the air at low levels. Challenging flying conditions but your organization and calmness is wonderful to behold. The on the ground footage in Ande was enlightening - gives a real insight into the purpose of the work you do in PNG. The runway walks are so often enlightening, not only from the aspect and condition of the ground tell you for flying but also about the community that so often lives close by the airstrip. The time lapse flight back to Gorka was superb - told a real story! Adding a few subtitles really does bring it alive. I love the time lapses for the contrast they provide with the flight as shown in the main video, which is detailed and informative but the speeded up version gives a real feel for the the landscape being flown over and the weather encountered. An excellent video - thank you.

They are very challenging flying conditions in PNG and particularly in the Marawaka Valley. I only fly in simulation but thanks to Ryan's detailed planning I too was able to make a safe landing at the challenging Ande airstrip. Being prepared that it was necessary to do an over flight to get to altitude, then do an approach which you know you will abort before returning to attempt a landing. I have to say the learning curve worked perfectly. Hitting the numbers and skimming the ridges is what makes it happen and Ryan's video shows it so well..

@@stevekirk8546 he’s a technically very adept pilot. I enjoy watching the vlogs. Flew with some of the guys who worked in PNG. I read a book about someone’s career there, the name of the book escapes me, but a good read and recognised quite a few names… the guy was ex Australian air force who I think quit or was chopped. But good read and very interesting flying,

I will throw this "war story" in about prefilght checks for anyone who gets bored doing them, and might be tempted to skip stuff. I was in a Cavalry unit in the Army Guard long ago. Rode on the Hueys nearly every weekend drill. One of the crew chiefs put a Huey's blade for everyone to look at in the hangar. It had a crack that had worked its way 3/4 from the back of the blade almost to the front. The pilots had notced some vibration, before that was spotted.
