😲 Wow great job! So cool to see new life put back in these old treasures. I grew up with kids who had this bike.👍👍

Awesome build. I hope you were spraying fabric dye on those skyway mags and not paint, paint will eventually flake off whereas fabric dye soaks into the dried nylon mags leaving a finish that close resembles the original factory finish

I so much enjoyed watching that. I had a Burner, blue with yellow Skyways. 1983 I think. I remember watching the adverts on telly; "Are you Tuff enough to handle a Burner!" Great times. Great channel; just liked an subbed. Namaste x

Yeah we did swap them out but we still have them! We could restore them and put them back on? What do you think?

what a transformation mate! I stumbled across this video cause i have 2 Raleigh burners in the shed and thinking about trying to restore them, i wouldn't have access to all the equipment you have mind :) where abouts did you source the new bearings and races etc?

Needs to be chromed and gold plastic coated frame to be anything like a super Burner....

It's a good bike but if I was doing it up I would buy a layed back seat post for it to make it look more 80s like and more presentable but other then that it's a good bike

Even i don't really like the final result not "era correct", amazing job, Raleigh, Skyway, Dia Compe, everything's good anyway if i can help you, at 2:50 i see that the rim is not straight, if you want to fix it that's very simple, put the rim on the freezer for 24 hours, then bring it up out from the freezer and keep it up for 6 hours, all fibers will be fixed, we did that during the 80's, and it works, thanks for your video man 😊👍🏼

What paint did you use on the frame?
@WhitelandRestorations3 жыл бұрын
To start with the base was epoxy primer over the well keyed up chrome (make sure you really key it or nothing will stick to the chrome), then sanded and 2k primer over that, sanded again then painted in automotive base coat covered in clearcoat. Unfortunately I can't tell you the paint code as it a secret colour mix 😁👍

Wouldn't be a burner if seat post wasn't stuck , they were notorious for it , in the 80 as a child armed with only a vice grips you had to be lucky that the previous owner was tall and the seat post was at least halfway up , that way you could smack it with a hammer n wood , although you'd hit it in the downward position it could be enough to break the seal and then begin the laborious task of twisting it upward again with a vice grips 😆

40 years on ant the only thing that's changed is, we got bigger vice grips 😂 Thanks for watching, please consider subscribing 🙂

Awesome build but did you really just use zip ties?
@WhitelandRestorations3 жыл бұрын
Nope just good old British cable ties 😂 I was tempted to weld on some lugs but I wanted to keep the frame as stock as possible
