Some people are content with the identity others have imposed upon them. Some aren't content with this and spend their whole lives questioning and seeking. What if the answer is that there is no answer? Or rather, that the answer is everything and nothing all at once... I am no thing. I am no one. I am I. I am.

I've spent the last week going through a lot of your videos and learning so much. I think I will be watching them all over and over again. They really challenge and stretch your thinking. I was once told only 5% of the population are self aware. And I thought I was one of them. You've taught me I am, but I still have a very long journey ahead of me to reach some sort of enlightenment. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, its really appreciated.

At the very last moments of this quest for knowledge I was in so much emotional pain, in doubt of every step I made prior. The pace of this quest drumming faster. I could not find anyway out. I felt as I was getting to this end point where there were no more options to explore. Sitting in my bed. Reading a text I wrote two days prior. Crying. Again. No meditation could calm, no breathing pattern lowered the anxiety. I remember the words I spoke/sent. A call in total distress. And then. I gained the knowledge I searched for not the answer to my question. Stillness. And a silent giggle.

As you were listing off the things we come to identify ourselves with over the course of our lives it occurred to me that the reason we dehumanize others is because we fail to see our own humanity. If we stop thinking of ourselves as collections of traits then we can so doing this to others and start to develop genuine empathy.

The ego dissolve every time we shed light on hidden parts of the personality, what you resist persist and what you look at disappear. than your ego malleably change into something totally new like a mirage , there no end in that process so it doesn’t matter who we are as long as we accept ourselves
@zain4019
@zain4019 3 жыл бұрын
I would somewhat disagree. The ego will create endless problem upon problem. Examining the ego is a never-ending task. There is no time when one can be “finished” healing the ego. It cannot be. Turning away from the ego and into self-inquiry, and then to self-abidance is the only way. To turn our attention away from all but the perceiver is the only path to peace. Illusions and delusions, ego tendencies and karma fall away in the fire of self-abidance. There is wonderful work that can be done with dissolving ego identification through removing resistance by conscious awareness of ones behaviours and thoughts, and it may be necessary for many with particularly strong egos, but eventually one must turn inward. The never-ending quest to understand or make sense of the ego is the reason Ramana Maharishi said to turn inwards, whatever one might be doing. In that is peace.

Could you explain the process of ego death? Thanks
@edzardpiltz6348
@edzardpiltz6348 3 жыл бұрын
Ego death is the realization that it does not exist but as an idea in your mind. And that the mind too is nothing but a bundle of merely repetitive thoughts that come and go without your doing. To realise that just look for the "I" you think you are. Try to locate it, try to find out what it is made of. Not with more concepts or catchphrases your have picked up on the way, but with direct feeling experience. And no, is not necessary to know who you really are. 99.999% of all people don't give a s**t about that, as long as they can get what they think they need or want. It's only for those who are fed up with suffering from this absurd existence! 😘

@AbandonedVoid
@AbandonedVoid 3 жыл бұрын
Ego death refers to three different things. The first is the experience of what's called "ego loss" where your brain stops identifying yourself as a subject, and the subject/object distinction disintegrates. "You" stop existing, and everything else just is. It also often destroys essentialism, so you no longer see a car as much as the shape and material of the car. It's a type of mystical experience that can be brought about through meditation, but also psychedelics. The second is in dharmic religion, where you can supposedly experience the above perpetually (or something close to it) when you're skilled at meditation, although many sects believe it's more of an ideal to strive for rather than something genuinely achievable in this life. Here it often corresponds to selflessness, compassion, and acceptance. The third is in psychedelic culture, where it can refer to a variety of surreal experiences where you feel severe thanatophobia and feel like your entire being is unravelling. This one is more horrific. An example of this is Terrence McKenna's last trip, where his friendly mushroom guide ripped off its face and revealed a black hole of total, overwhelming nothingness. There's some debate over whether this horror is just caused by struggling against ego loss by somebody that isn't sufficiently prepared to let go of their identity, or whether it's a complete misnomer to compare this to dharmic ego death.

You are always experiencing it. You have been experiencing your whole life 100% of the time 24 hours a day. You just have to realize that. It's just hard because you're so used to it that its difficult to notice at first. But when you do you'll laugh and be like "oh shit, that? It's been right here all along" Best example I've thought of is this thought experiment. Imagine you are fish and you're trying to tell another fish about water. (Fish you're talking to has never been up to the surface before, always been deep in the ocean). So you keep telling him stuff like "it's all around us" Ok then say eventually he gets it. He'll be like "oh of course it's so obvious now!" That "oh shit of course!" feeling is the same one you'll have when you realize that you are pure awareness. That's my main point, that feeling you can imagine the fish having when he realizes what water is and how it's literally been with him forever. Some people might think im comparing water to Awareness and that we are "swimming in awareness". I'm not talking about any of that, only goal is to get you put yourself in the fish's situation the moment he realizes. (Not sure if I'm being clear about all that) Edit:one last thing. Now of course an easy way to get your fish friend to realize would be to take him up to the surface and throw him in the air and have him splash back down into the water. Now he has something to compare with, air. Spiritual practices like meditation and whatever else pretty much serve the same purpose as throwing the fish up into the air. They help you separate and narrow things down so that you can point to the Self (awareness) easier.

Amazing stuff and expressed with such eloquence..the way we deal with issues concerning ego is to really listen to what we are feeling, to go wiithin and feel into our emotions if we are on track we will feel we made the right choices and confusion will become less as we no longer are lead by our egos and over time this will lead to dissolution of the ego as we slowly emerge into our higher selves.☀️
