Refreshing to have a comic that does not need to swear to get laughs. Good set!

Old school South Texas mom here ~ I had a large wooden spoon under my driver's seat and would pull off the road if my two choose not to control themselves. It took just one pop and we went on down the road. My son is now an E-5 in the Navy and my daughter is on the deans list at community college. Being a single mom, I feel you need a church family and boundaries to raise children who become successful, independent adults. Thank you for sharing ~ Love your channel!

We have four kids from ages 8-13 (we adopted our kids through foster care, so we "started late"); and we joke with the helicopter parents that our kids living "their best Gen X life." It's funny to hear the other parents gasp when they hear from our kids how we parent. "You mean they make you stay outside and play in a large yard, or go to the park?" "You aren't allowed a phone without a job and a means to pay for it?" "You mean they tell you to rub dirt or take salt tablets when you're hurt?" "You mean they limit your screen time?" I'm not saying our way is better; it's just funny to hear how "out of touch" our kids are compared to the other kids. Here's to all of us who drank from water hoses, survived wooden spoons, and grew up the capability to slam phones and remember life with three tv channels 😂

Even other kids didn’t want to get “the look” from my mom. One guy said, “ she can scare you with that look “ ! We never wanted to hear, wait till your dad gets home. We not only respected our parents, we rarely did something stupid enough to be told, wait till your dad gets home. Parents need to remember, it’s our job to teach our children how to behave. It all starts at home. Have a great day everyone !

My grandmother, Edna, had 3 sons close in age. When 1 did wrong all 3 got spanked under the "you are your brother's keeper" theory. It worked well as they kept each other out of trouble. Until they died they always watched out for each other and gave assistance when needed.😊

Raised in the South by an old school mom and we went to a Pentecostal church. Vacation Bible school was non negotiable. Usually she would tell our dad if we did something wrong but if you got her mad she would go to spanking. She would talk and hit like "I told you never FILL in the Blank with every word. Her other specialty was "Go get me a switch ". So you had to go get a good size but still skinny stick that she would whip you with. Usually involved lots of crying on our part.

We got the switch, fly swatter, wooden spoon, leather belt, and "the board"! And my mother was the first person to ever hit me with a closed fist, lol. She was a hillbilly gal & did not fool around. But we learned to control ourselves & learned what accountability meant. I raise my children similarly and they are solid citizens. Somebody's gotta make up the slack for all the folks who were raised with participation trophies.

I had not just an "old school mother," I had Old School Parents! Mom was a fearless disciplinarian, probably because she had had to help raise her six younger siblings, and she brooked no nonsense. By the time I turned 10, I had learned that the best way to avoid punishment of any kind was simply to do as I was told, so I did. My brothers, on the other hand....enough said. My sister, being the baby of the family, saw what her three older siblings did wrong, and she avoided doing 99% of it. Far from perfect, but she so rarely got punished, it was as if she was just a little visitor whose real parents banned any punishment of her at all!

Can I qualify as an old school mom at 40? Mine are all under 7 yo… I tell them, choose love not pain. If you don’t do what I ask the first time I ask you get punishment and punishment is a pain… So don’t choose pain… Works most of the time. Sometimes Inhave to count 1… 2… And before I say 3 they spring into action because it’s better than the alternative… But overall they’re very cooperative and will happily come to my aid when I call for them… I make them clean up after themselves. I have little portable vaccum cleaner in the kitchen… I got great kids, can’t complain… They’re little so they’re still learning to share and take turns, but overall they play well with each other… It’s great to see their bond…

I still hate hedges. I cut them down at every house I've lived in for 55 years. They made those long thin switches that cut your legs when struck with them.
