@@Itwasme5071 okay so without going into too much detail confusing you the endtimes we've been taught is pretty off. the genre of revelation is called apocalyptic literature which was written mostly during times of oppression. the goal of this genre was to make the reader believe that God was still in control no matter what was happening at the time. now in apocalyptic literature they would use crazy and bizarre symbols like beasts and monsters to symbolise nations and kingdoms and so on. now I could go on a tangent about everything but I'll send you a video that I think is pretty decent at explaining the genre apocalyptic literature at a surface level. it's also more than okay that we don't understand everything about it bc the type of genre of apocalyptic literature fell out of favor after the time of the first century AD so even audiences not even 200 years later would've completely understood it in that context

The biggest error in this video is you attribute 666 or 616 to Hebrew and Latin. Revelation was written in Koine Greek. Wonder why you didn’t mention that 🤔 Maybe it’s because it wouldn’t fit your theory?

then how would u explain away the variant number? also the spelling of neros name in Latin translated to the Hebrew and then assigned the numerical values equals 616. that's simply just an error on his part in the video for not explaining that better. 666 are the Greek letter translated to Hebrew and then assigned their numerical value. now I agree he explained this pretty sucky but his "theory" is a widely accepted one by most biblical scholars and it is for a reason. hope this helped clear stuff up :P

@@wannabe_scholar82 iIt doesn’t matter what Hebrew and Latin translate to, the numbers are Greek in Revelation. Second, the argument that “most scholars” believe what you are trying to say is a bad argument, like people that say most scientists believe in man made global warming. Both those statements are wrong. Maybe the scholars you listen to say that, let me guess, you like Bart Ehrman? Biblical scholars that start with the assumption that prophecy Is not real are not legitimate biblical scholars. Just like scientists that start with the assumption that the only things that exists is matter and energy, guess what, 10 times out of 10 they will look for another explanation for evidence they are presented that points to God. Same with biblical scholars that reject the supernatural, they will find any other explanation other than they one that points to a supernatural answer. They have to change 666 to Hebrew or Latin because that fits their preconceived ideas. Because 666 in Greek doesn’t fit Nero they have to find another answer. Third, if you study the early church fathers you’ll see that Revelation was written after the fall of Jerusalem. Well after. Around 95AD. Once again, the only reason for a pre 70AD date is because these “biblical scholars” do not believe in the supernatural. They reject prophecy. A lot of them don’t even really believe in God. Yet they are Biblical scholars. The theories these “scholars” have only somewhat fit somethings in Revelation. But if you study the whole book and try to plug in their little theories in context of the whole, you find out very quickly that they just don’t make sense when placed in full context of the text.

@@onehappydawg okay cool let's go one by one with this. yes the numbers are Greek in revelation but the practice of gematria would take the letters of the name and convert them into Hebrew before assigning them their numerical value. so while I get your confusion here this doesn't work.

@@onehappydawg I'll grant you the scholars thing as I don't care much for that. I was just telling you what was consensus. otherwise I don't really place too much into scholars, I was just saying if it's the consensus u should at least consider what they are saying but it's fine u don't have to.

@@onehappydawg again they don't change 666 to Latin. you're just misrepresenting the practice of gematria which we know was a widely done thing in the first century Mediterranean.
