I don’t believe Sora is divisive as you make him out to be. Kingdom hearts as a whole has had a massive following compared to other fighters and even dlc fighters. The most divisive to least divisive for the first three is Byleth, Min-Min, and Steve. Byleth and Min-Min felt like advertisements more than a celebration of third party characters, which is what smash fans absolutely love. Steve is the least divisive of the three but him being as broken as he was and being so…stiff and different is tricky, especially since he’s meant to be the “indie” rep. Sora and many other third party fighters just felt more fitting, I liked Sora and very few and I mean very few were against him especially when compared to fighters like Byleth and even Bayonetta. The fighters ballot even proved that, so any other dlc third party fighter would face the threat of division more than him.
