@@ButtonsCasey I worked at a dealership and when we did cash deals we would still have to run your credit and it’s not for the credit To be honest it’s so that if your social is attached to a don’t sell list you’ll show up. Dealerships are also gatekeepers for fraud it’s really a terrorist report which sounds odd but they are required to do that and if your name pops up they will call the police. But the dealership is t going to tell their customer that! So they are going to tell you it’s for a different reason.

Maybe your dealership didn’t do it i don’t think you HAVE to do but if you sale a car to someone who is on the list you’ll go to jail as the sales rep. Did you not have to get a sales license? They should’ve went over that with you when you applied for the license at the DMV and that’s why best practice is always just to run the credit.

When I was sixteen my friend had a beautiful car that we drove around in ,he even let me drive it on accusations all by myself to go do stuff. I new the car was in great shape. When he decided to sell it,cause that's how he was always buying and selling vehicles, I needed/wanted that car...I told him I'd buy it,he said sure. I went to get my finances in order at the bank $2500 back in 1985 was good money for a 78 olds cutlas. After I talked to my buddy,And he informed me that his dad advised him this stupid rule about not selling cars to friends so he wouldn't sell me it. I was enormously perturbed about this, and to make matters worse he later sold the same car to another friend of both of ours.😲 then later he found a car in the auto trader he said I should look at ,it was 2 hours away and took some doing to get down there for me 2 hrs was a big drive to do nothing, so when I got there It was buy it or get going. I bought it and it was one thing after the other with it ,it was a head ache that was just a money pit. This stupid rule about not selling cars to friends is bs. And really it was the start to our now dead for years friendship.
