There were two small instances where Jason was teased in previous Arkham games. In Asylum, Joker mentions that Batman could use a new sidekick. In City if you play Robin in Joker's Fun House, Joker would occasionally say, "Didn't I kill you already?" But both of them can be overlooked before retrospect.

Aside from Jason Todd, I also theorized that it was Prometheus at that time, especially since Arkham Knight claimed himself to be the opposite of Batman. Prometheus appearance also has been teased multiple times in BAA & BAC. Turn out Prometheus was about to be in BAK im Season of Infamy DLC, but completely got cut because of time constraints.

Damian wanting revenge for his mother would’ve made much more sense because he was raised by ecoterrorists who are also ninjas with tons of resources which explains the ninja enemy types and the massive army and the willingness to destroy Gotham and partner up with scarecrow Jason being a terrorist militia leader is super out of character then he just immediately abandons it in pursuit of killing criminals which he was never shown to care about he’s literally partnered up with one of Batman’s greatest foes and somehow called a truce between more major villains and coordinate a plan to attack the city on the same night which seems more like a Damian and league of assassins thing to do so imo Jason wasn’t the only option for the Arkham knight

Arkham knight could've worked as Jason. His character would have been a lot better if they changed two things. First, establish his identity early on, and allow the game to fully explore Jason and Bruce's conflict and dynamic. This also gives a lot more meaning to the hallucinations with Jason and makes it make more sense for why they happen. Second, make Deathstroke the general of the milita instead of AK, and have Jason be sort of a solo anti hero who is trying to stop scarecrow but also wants revenge on Batman and wants him to kill scarecrow. Now if it couldn't be Jason, I think Talia would have been unexpected and could work in the context of the story, other than that I like the idea of it just being a new character with unique motivations and origins.

YES! Put Batman in a few situations where he couldn’t get out without help, and have AK swoop in and save him, but then have other conflicts in the story where you have to battle AK because he’s getting in your way or attacking you directly… that makes his loyalty very confusing and makes Batman further question “who IS this guy?!?!” But then makes sense to learn that AK/Jason wants you to “do what is necessary” and is frustrated with your one rule -thereby frustrated with you directly.

The wardon and mayor would have been the perfect choice. Quincy sharp is an original character whos life gets destroyed by batman to an insane degree. Like the guy loses everything at the end of city. If he controlled a robot Arkham knight or collaborated with someone who dressed up as the knight that would have been a great option imo, Arkham also fits him so well considering his history. It would have also connected the trilogy together and Rocksteady would have been right about him being an original character.

In my head I always wanted someone related to Quincy Sharp (like a son/brother/ admirer/ even a chosen heir much like Amadeus Arkham chose Quincy Sharp to continue the Arkham legacy) to be the Arkham Knight! And I will explain why. First Rocskteady teased the character like someone we didn’t know for sure and the angle of a Sharp family member or acquaintance would’ve been nice. Second, in Arkham Knight Quincy Sharp basically gives up on life off screen. I think if it was a bit more explored I would’ve given the feeling that we truly don’t know who this guy was but he was worthy enough to pick up what remained of the Arkham legacy and avenge the events of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. The motive would’ve been to remove Batman to have no other obstacles to revive the Arkham legacy again and to continue with the projects they did in the past (Titan/Protocol 10/ Opening of other Arkham sites all over the world, so on). I don’t know maybe it doesn’t sound convincing but I think it would’ve been cool

Ties of arkham history just a kid during origins seeing the batman in the news and the city, becoming obcessed with him "not in a good or healthy way" (maybe tied with azreal and a person like galavan from gotham) he later worked in arkahm asylum where he was tied to the creation of arkham city, the office in asylum could have been his and not quincy sharps, hia obcession also allowed for the loose security allowing for the joker to take control of the prison. He could later be in arkham city as a political prisoner that was sent there by strange as strange knew he would be a problem. He would also be involved with the league of assasins as he wanted batman to become the demons head. When revealed in arkahm knight we could get a full sequence in arkham asylum where you fight him and learn about his motives and his history. (More story would need to be woven throughout the series).

Tim Drake. Had the ability to beat Batman by being trained by him. Had mostly been inside the Panessa studios throughout the game. Never interacts with the Knight, barely mentions anything outside of the Jokers. Felt shunned by Batman, always being in his shadow, wanted to improve Gotham by killing Batman and taking his place. He had motive, opportunity and Rocksteady could have really shook up the narrative by having the current Robin be the Knight instead of a former Robin.

Honestly a great plot twist. The only thing would be that it is kinda character assassination. Maybe it could work if it was due to Dr. Strange’s and Mad Hatter’s brainwashing that occurred sometime during the events of Arkham City since we know Tim was there that night. And having the suit be a part of Tyger gear and based off of Strange’s batsuits designs could have worked. (As a side note, it would also have been cool for the hallucinations to make Batman see and think it was Todd at first due to his guilt. Sort of as a red herring)

What led me to believe Thomas Wayne was the Arkham Knight was in one of the CG trailers for the game was the reading of Thomas’ will and testament. I thought to myself ‘why would they put that in the trailer unless Thomas was going to have a big role in the game.’

Damien Wayne and Jason make it two people because I like the idea of it being Jason tortured still but Damien also makes more sense as a follow up after his mother’s death

What would have been cool is if they had multiple Arkham knights. One is deathstroke, one is red hood and one is Prometheus. Each boss battle with a different version leaves Batman more confused because of the different fighting styles. Then red hood switches sides and teams up with Batman and you fight both at the end

I think it would have been cool if it was Hugo Strange in an armor that enhances his combat and skills, but at the end I think a better pick would have probably been to just make him a new character over all

A podcast I listened to said that Hush replaced Batman so Bruce was the Arkham knight trying to get his mantle back. This was before the game released and we knew barely anything abkut the game

I could totally see that Thomas Wayne idea tho. Like imagine, they set it up to be Damian getting revenge for his mother, so Bruce starts to believe it’s Damian, and during a fight, Bruce cuts the Arkham Knight, and he tests the blood, and it shows that AK is related to Bruce, but he can’t figure out who it is, because the DNA has been tampered with. So Bruce goes to AK and tries to snap him out of it, talking to him like he’s Damian, only for AK to take off his helmet and reveal that it’s actually a resurrected Thomas Wayne that’s being controlled by Damian and Ra’s al Ghul.

Jason Todd was perfect. It may be not have been as shocking as a reveal, but it was a good opponent to Batman because all the tech and combat training came from him.

Jason Todd is a great choice for the character, the problem was that they never once mentioned Jason or his backstory in any of the other games. Suddenly Knight was filled with all this Jason Todd lore to the point you already know it’ll be Jason long before the reveal. If Jason’s story had been mentioned or explored throughout all three of the games it would’ve been a better reveal, one that subverts your expectations for him to show up as the Red Hood

I think Arkham Knight should have been an actual original character, where he's not a based off of an already existing character. A theory that I really liked is that the Arkham Knight is Protocol 11 that was unleashed after Hugo Strange activated Protocol 10 as a backup plan. There's even dialogue between Batman and Alfred that the Knight could be someone fulfilling Quincy Sharp and Hugo Strange's work.

Only obvious choice should’ve been Damian. He might be a little old for his usual depiction, but it would’ve absolutely badass to see someone trained just like Batman with similar roots only that he kills and seeks vengeance for his mother and clan.

Honestly I would have just used Prometheus, but maybe tied his story more into Batman like having the killing of his parents by police be the result of Batman finding out they were criminals and ratting them out to the GCPD. This would have Prometheus blame Batman and go on to investigate him and find out his true identity (the only other person to do that was Tim Drake so it'd show he's a big threat). From there, he would travel the world training as Bruce had, all the while getting involved in organized crime and eventually building up the resources to create the militia. Even if his identity wouldn't be the big reveal, the reasons why he did what he did would be, and he would still state his motives as personal revenge against Batman, fueling the mystery around his motives until the big reveal towards the end of the story.

It would have been better to me to make it Thomas Wayne Jr. since it would have brought Owl Man as a villain they could have used for the games. Think about it he acts somewhat like Batman but more or less was the first person to prove upon Joker’s motto that all it takes is one bad day. It also would have made you question if all the flashbacks through batman’s past were real or changed giving more hype on the fear gas effecting people. They could have brought Red hood in that narrative of not trying to follow that one bad day motto, still hating batman for not looking for him but forgiving him for taking away the monster that had haunted him for a while. It would also give more of a reason as to why batman would be turning into a joker, he is on that edge of having that one bad day, & boom problem solved onto the story aspect giving more reason as to why batman during two of the side stories would say that this is his last night. Finally, it would have given him a reason to step down from the batman symbol. I still hate that the Suicide squad is in the same timeline as the Arkham series when the ending for them was already bad from how the story of Arkham knight is, they just had to take a dump on it one more time

The Cadmus posters in Harley’s Revenge made a lot of people think a Hugo Strange clone finally donning a Batman costume modeled after his “legacy” made a lot of sense. Damien made over his mothers death was a missed opportunity though

Before the games release I thought it could've been a grandson of Quincy Sharp. Getting revenge on Batman for letting his Grandfathers asylum out of control from joker and the shame of his suicide. An original character would've been better and during the game it was obvious the Jason was the Arkham Knight.

Awesome idea tie that into my thoughts and hopes Ties of arkham history just a kid during origins seeing the batman in the news and the city, becoming obcessed with him "not in a good or healthy way" (maybe tied with azreal and a person like galavan from gotham) he later worked in arkahm asylum where he was tied to the creation of arkham city, the office in asylum could have been his and not quincy sharps, hia obcession also allowed for the loose security allowing for the joker to take control of the prison. He could later be in arkham city as a political prisoner that was sent there by strange as strange knew he would be a problem. He would also be involved with the league of assasins as he wanted batman to become the demons head. When revealed in arkahm knight we could get a full sequence in arkham asylum where you fight him and learn about his motives and his history. (More story would need to be woven throughout the series).
