In this video, I talk about the early history of the Indo-Greeks. It was in the Seleucid province of Bactria, the history of Indo-Greeks began. Diodotus I, who was the governor of Bactria and it was he who revolted against the Seleucid Empire and founded the independent Bactrian Kingdom. His son Diodotus II succeeded him but soon he was assassinated by Euthydemus I. It was under Euthydemus, the kingdom of Bactria became truly independent and was recognized by the Seleucid Emperor Antiochus III as an independent kingdom. After securing his kingdom from the Seleucid thread, now the Bactrians were ready to extend their Empire. The crumbling Mauryan Empire presented them a tempting target to extend their kingdom. It was under Demetrius I, the son of Euthydemus I, the first incursions into the Indian Subcontinent began.
