I'm hoping for change. I'm aware Aerith died in the original but that decision was mostly done from the emotional choice of someone who lost their Mother on the team. It's been years now, years to grieve and reflect on that choice and maybe offer something originally planned too. If you mod the game Aerith can be seen at the icicle inn... She doesn't have to be killed, let's have more of an optimistic message to send to the audience. Her death in the original game will always be present and no one can take that away. I hope in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth they'll sorta give us both... Like maybe Cloud will see one last memory bathed in that green-static from the original FF7 game, Aerith's death sequence... Then is snapped back to reality ready to alter fate. I know you personally want to see her death but I'm on the side it's far more interesting to know who will save Aerith. We'll see how it goes but I much prefer something different for Aerith's outcome.

I’m hoping for a change as well. My girl has been in the Lifestream for over two and a half decades. Cloud and Aerith share more romance in Remake and are better for each other imo. She is genuine with Cloud and is the only character who instantly includes him in her life. Tifa and Avalanche alienated him. I think the Devs will keep that alter scene, but she won’t die in the end. I think Zack will sacrifice himself to save Aerith and Cloud since his SOLDIER dream was to become a hero. I also think Zack got a second chance from Angeal- the white feather symbolizes that. Why else is he there?

@@mykise1652 I just happen to want a different outcome for her. Yes my opinion differs from you but that is totally cool. I don't know why you're attacking me for my opinion. I'm also perplexed why you're bringing up Naruto when this is an FF7 topic. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ I do care about the story but unlike the original I don't necessarily believe it's critical for the plot that she has to die. If you're concerned about Sephiroth's end game, I'm sure the writers will come up with something just as intense for us fans to worry about. I don't want to theorize what that is though. Granted I could be wrong, my assumptions might be wrong... We'll have to play the game and find out. So I might not get my wish that outcome for her character and I'll have to cope with the developers choice. Lastly (not that it matters) I'm a fan girl not a fan boy and I do appreciate Aerith. My husband wanted me to see him play his favorite game, Final Fantasy 7. I watched him through his entire playthrough (this was 2010 or so)... I was totally new to everything. We later went to a nerdy convention and I decided to cosplay as her. She continued to be a wonderfully written character, I thought she was adorable. My husband loved her when he was a boy so it warms my heart in a way he gets to be with his real life Aerith. Aerith and I share the same colored eyes so maybe that's why he is drawn to me. I can see your point…but I just finished a playthrough of the original myself to know what’s „supposed to happen“. And what I take from it is this… Aeriths death is essential to the development of the whole party. Not just Cloud. At the end of disc 3 they all fight Sephiroth to finish what she tried. However! With the plot ghosts gone they might change that direction and do something different this time around. We‘ll see! It’s been a long time but I’m happy we get to know soon.

Sephiroth should kill Tifa, as she is the one who helps repair his mind. Also, Aerith dying leads to Sephiroth's downfall. She needs to live if he has any plans on success and Cloud needs to be emotionally distraught and the finally lose his mind with no hope of return. This would be an interesting direction for the story and a chance really utilize Zack.

I think Aerith might die protecting Tifa. That would be the best way to go to catch us off guard. Thinking for a split second Tifa's going to die instead of Aerth. That would be a good decision if they do it that way and it will make since too for sephiroth in the remake version. Because we all know Sephiroth probably does want Tifa dead because he knows what happened in the og ff7

Cloud thought she was dead at Nibelheim. It was Zangan who saved Tifa. Cloud mentions that he was sad about it in OG, but he didn’t have a breakdown and fall into the Lifestream over it.

I don't think they ended part 1 by destroying the whispers of fate and undoing Zack's death just so they could have Aerith die again. The end of part 1 needs to matter. The whispers undid Barret's death because it's not supposed to happen. With them gone deaths that are supposed to happen will not and maybe death's that should not will.

I would really like if Aerith survived THIS part, then played her part and sacrificed herself in the next part. I think she has to die for the game to carry the same weight, and that would catch ppl off guard. I’m gonna be really let down if they brought Zach back to life just to kill him again so Aerith can live. His death has little impact since he’s already dead so even if he dies, she’s gotta go to.

I believe Sephiroth was still a puppet of Jenova during the OG. Jenova need Aerith to die so the geostigma in the lifestream will reach Gaia and she suceed, which lead to the bad ending of the entire compilation. Sephiroth, regain his freedom and is now rebelling against Jenova and wants to reconcile both world - the lifestream and the real world. This is so omega gets activated and carry the lifestream back to the creator where he wants to go. :D The REMAKE was Sephiroth plot to destroy Jenova a.k.a. Harbinger and this is how he is now officially the main villain of FF7

I’m pretty confident Aerith is not going to die, in the trailer we see Aerith praying at the forgotten city where she is exposed to die but behind her we see the whispers flying around her, thing is the whispers only appear in remake when something is threatening the course of Fate, something is happening causing the whispers to go “OH FUCK WE HAVE TO FIX THIS NOW!”

I don't think it makes sense for any main character to die. Obviously Cloud can't die, he's the player. Aerith wouldn't trade anyone else's life for her own, so it doesn't make sense for anyone else to die in her place. I suppose it depends on the theme that Square wants for the game whether Aerith dies again, but if they're going more for a make your own destiny theme, which it seems like they are, then it doesn't make sense for Aerith to die. Cloud is the only character that the game makes any attempt to identify the player with, so the story must revolve around Cloud remaking his destiny. Cloud's relationship with Aerith is a core part of who he becomes. Cloud isn't remaking his destiny if Aerith dies again. If Aerith dies again, then the theme of the game is not remaking your destiny, but rather the theme is heroism is futile and fate is going to win out in the end no matter how hard you fight it. Also if Aerith dies again, then Cloud isn't a hero anymore, he's just a failure. The whole point of having a remake and defying destiny is so Cloud can save the one he loves. There's a fine line between being an imperfect hero, and a failure, and Cloud failing to save Aerith twice crosses that line and turns him from hero into failure. It makes sense that Aerith might live or die based on player choices, and it would be a good story telling opportunity for Cloud to have to sacrifice something important in order to save Aerith, but the canon storyline will be Aerith lives. Also, they know that a huge percentage of their players want to see Aerith and Cloud together again. When FF7 was first made they had no idea it was going to be the massive success it was, and that Aerith would be such a beloved character. Now that they do know, why would they kill off one of the most popular characters in gaming history again? That would be such an epic marking fail. The whole point of remake is to resurrect one the most iconic characters in gaming history so they can make her a main character in future stories\games. They're probably already mapping out storylines for FF7 sequel games with Cloud and Aerith, which they can't do if she's dead.

I feel like with all the heartwarming moments of her in Remake I hope there's more that can be done with her character in Rebirth. Like you mentioned here, her death was sudden and tragic. All the time you and your party spend with her just end in an instant.

Maybe the Whispers cause Aerith’s death, taking her into the Lifestream after completing her prayers. Sephiroth still stabs her, but doesn’t realize she died before doing this.

The Remake itself seems to a different timeline. So Zacks timeline is just another one. And I don't think that Sephiroth has the same plan at all this time. If he remembers the original FF7 and wants to win, he just needs to kill Aerith before she can even use the white Marteria. And then kill Could too. He could have easily done it Remake 1 but chose not to do it.

The end of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth(Prediction) I don't think Aerith's going to die. That's what they want you to believe and I think the media team is making a sneaky move. When they say "The world will be saved, but will you?" I think they literally mean "You". The main protagonist you play as, Cloud Strife! The only way to top off the twist from Final Fantasy VII(1997) Cloud has to die instead. That would make everyone's jaw drop and this will be the greatest twist in video game HISTORY! I believe they're gonna pull a Red Dead Redemption. After Cloud dies. You'll continue playing as Zack Fair! Now that would be something I wouldn't mind seeing!!!

I'll tell you what I think will happen. But the problem is, will it be as impactfull as it was in the OG? She will die in Clouds timeline, but but in a different way, and when she does, she will be Reborn in the other (Zacks). They will not make a third game without her. She will play a role there along with Zack, helping them defeat Sephiroth from their timeline. Basicaly in the end of the OG Aerith and Zack gave their battle to unleash holy and the lifestream and maybe another Sephiroth and we will see that battle. Now as for Sephiroth not wanting her to die, dont forget that if that is true, we are talking about future Seohiroth. The one that kills Aerith is current Jenova/clones. So will he intervine to save her? (Cloud at that point is under Jenovas control unable to do anything) The tie to AC now it means my speculation is correct and another two things. A) Sephiroth is from after the events of AC and we are on a loop or B) He is from between OG and AC Now Back to my original question. will her death be much of an impact if we see her running around with Zack? No. The line that Cloud says, as mentioned in this video will have no meaning to the player, only to the characters. The line I'm talking about is "Aerith will no longer talk, laugh or get angry".

I think you're probably going to be right! But yeah it definitely lessens the impact of an original scene, and that's really my biggest issue with remakes storytelling already. To a new player, introducing Sephiroth and Zack so much earlier like this hurts some of big reveals later in the game, so the payoff needs to outweigh that. I hope they can pull it off!

Theyve already essentially ruined the greatest plot twist (Clouds true role in Nibelheim) by having Zack introduced as he is. Thing is, if Sephiroth doesn't want aerith to die. ..if she lives she could cast holy anyway? So does it matter if she's alive or dead? I never wanted a 1:1 remake, what I wanted was what they gave us the first few chapters where it's expanded and ties in with the themes of the OG before bringing in shitty timelines and whispers that don't belong anywhere near ff7.

Actually the theme song trailer that features another timeline Aerith, Zack, Marlene, and Cloud shows a difference with OG and opens up a door. Sephiroth knowing the future pretty much throws out the idea of her being pushed into using Holy or the Lifestream; and because of the death being a major known even the impact of the death itself isn't going to be as big so also not carrying the punch to justify it. However there is a "have their cake and eat it too" option that these two things as well as even the Advent Children connection have a thread connecting together: Cloud timeline-Aerith dies in a different manner, Zack timeline-Aerith who's shown in a comatose state wakes up, and the scenes in Advent Children that everyone assumed were afterlife were actually just parallel timeline. It'd provide the "good ending" (cause OG sure af isn't it and is actually the "bad end route") with technically an Aerith dying and Cloud's party seeing it happen, but then doing a not really fully dead as her consciousness moves from one timeline to another. Otherwise there's no point to them even having another Aerith existing. That said I'd rather have the "golden ending" where no one dies, cause that route has already been done. Also multiple timelines has been repeatedly shown, teased, and reinforced; so I don't know how you can honestly still have doubts or be "maybe its a thing" about it. The latest trailer basically confirming it via a particular scene that shred the "one timeline" idea. They could also get the same level of impact by alternatively "killing" Cloud which wouldn't be a known thing, thus setting in place his departure from the party as per OG in its third act; even potentially having Zack end up in Cloud's timeline to temporarily take his place (as the two share similar enough skills & weapons). I'm well past edgelords with their death fixation to the point of ignoring that there's another side of that coin. To value LIFE not obsess over death like so many do that drives me up a wall as someone that played the OG game and has gone through the entire compilation; that doesn't remotely thump death as the emphasis point. So no I completely stand opposed to the idea that Aerith *has to* die, that "bad end route" is available and exists; and with the multiple timelines will continue to exist alongside the new timeline not overriding it for people that want it.

@@ThexSleepingDragon If you're referring to me, once again as I stated I've played the OG game around the 1999 era post getting my first Playstation w/ MGS that led me eventually to FF7. Who then enjoyed each of the Compilation pieces as they came out for the expansion on the world they provided as well as the character development marching on they did. Who also isn't locked into a purist mindset that Remake has to be the same or mimic OG, instead wanting it to embrace this new interesting higher lore angle that also allows for an actual good or golden ending. Hell I still damn well own my ps1 copy of the OG game and have the ps4 emulator/port whatever it is of it for if I choose to go for the OG story. So you've got absolutely no ground at all to stand on in my experience with the game universe. If anything I'd flip it around and if you're in the "death fixation" crowd that you're an incel shitlord that's obsessed with edginess of death. That likely whined about Tifa being given a sports-bra (cause how dare they go the logical route) and the Honeybee Inn for not making LGBT+ out as predatory. Also latching onto Dyne cause tragic edgy death arc. I've grown past my edgy phase.

I definitely see the potential for Aerith in Zacks timeline, actually i originally had a bit going over that but I cut it because it was a little too messy and this one was already kinda long. I'm not opposed to the idea though and it's the only other outcome that would make sense imo, but it is a rather fanservicey idea. You might not want them to write tragedies but that's still kinda what they're known for doing. Im not sure if you've played XVI yet but its not exactly a happy story. Also don't get me wrong, I'm entirely open to Square Enix mixing things up, and based on what we know I do think its multiple timelines as well, pretty sure I did say that. Until I read some of the developer interviews I was very much expecting huge deviations from the original, and I still kinda expect it because what SE are showing versus saying are quite different. You may have outgrown "edgy" tragic deaths but do you think SE has? Anyway idk why you feel the need to bring up incels or homophobia or anything like that, you're on the totally wrong channel if you think that's anything I'm about but thanks for the comment I liked the rest of it!

@@davidblainescharizard Its no more fanservicey than playing it straight for the one crowd. Not to mention the series deserving to have a good or golden ending, instead of just the bad end route. I'd actually say that they aren't known for that, especially in modern times. FFX ended on a sad note, but X-2 came along to offer a golden ending (for those willing to go through the effort to unlock it); 12 ended on a good note via a thought dead character actually defying logic by surviving; 13 also gave a happy ending; 15 kind of ended on a good note in Noctis and Lunafreya in the end reuniting; 8 had Squall pop from the time screwiness to get back with his squad; and 9 had Zidane reappear even after a presumed death as well. So while there are bad ends, its not a staple. Which goes into what I mentioned about the other side of the coin with regard to FF7, the "value life" side. Regardless we've already seen/gotten the bad end route of the story via OG + Advent Children; I welcome even the idea of good or golden route instead that reinforces the "value life" that is so so sooooooooo lost in the convos around FF7 that is hyper fixated on the death element. I actually do think SE has shifted but I also again don't think they ever were on the side of edgy either. If they really wanted to be edgy Cloud would be getting a sword in the chest, cause that'd be the thing no one would see coming (ftr I can see them doing a faux death with him not an actual death to be completely clear). As for this last bit, that last section had more to do with the idea that SE has already shown they're willing to shake things up and every time there's the one crowd that shows up to whine about it not being the OG. At this point I'm 80% in the camp of Remake being a sequel of sorts, which is very different to them redoing the OG story; with taking anything they say about the project with a massive grain of salt. Cause they aren't going to spoil their own story, especially in this case where one of the the main pulls is the curiosity of where its going.

You know what? It would be yet another mood killer if they kill off Aerith(Sorry, I still call her Aeris) and Zack sometime, when they ever meet cloud again. Like, they keep them alive so that the party actually interacts with them, but then the later events could still happen but in some other way, Zack dying to protect Cloud from Shinra, and Aerith(still prays for holy anyways, and succeeds), but then something else happens where she accepts her fate as the last Cetra, yet the lifestream still protects itself from meteor. That pc version of FFVII with the mods are great btw. There is a playable Zack mod(nexusmods), and with another mod, you can actually keep Aeris alive. Edit: forgive me, my spelling is drunk today...

Spoilers Who knows what to expect since the ending of remake basically said they will do whatever they want with the story. The future is not set in stone. They can even bring in Zack into the story if they wanted to. Have Cloud die or sephiroth win who knows. They already saved biggs and wedge even though it made no sense whatsoever. Personally I would rather them keep the main story instead of change it. But I don't mind them adding more and improving characters and world building which didn't get much before.

Yeah it looks like we'll be seeing a lot of this portion of the game being expanded on with new characters and I think even some new locations but I wonder how much they can change and still have the story align with Advent Children?

My fearless forecast: - sephiroth will not want to kill aerith bec her dying means she will be manipulating the lifestream - aerith will ask cloud to kill her. This will be the shock factor while still maintaining the story. Him killing aerith will turn him into the "emo" cloud we all know. His guilt for killing her will tie into advent children which is about cloud forgiving himself for aerith's death. - in adven children, it was both aerith and Zack that talked to cloud from the lifestream so aerith needs to die and aerith and Zack will meet up in the lifestream which is where the terrier stamp timeline is playing out. They will work together to reach out to cloud.

Let's say sacrifice aerith is not a surprise at all since it already happened in ff7 1997 but killing tifa thats unacceptable ,,,, Its only me notice that in remake cloud maybe knows aerith gonna die someday since he can see a little from the future and like for example when he wake up in shinra building and aerith explain about CETRA his reaction when tifa asking aerith if she hiding something,,,,he maybe knows that time and he maybe accept that it will be happened later on,,,,
