Pakistan lost more than twice the land mass than what it captured, lost more tanks, more men. The only place it did well in was airforce and the world accepts that. So lets not PUZZLE ourselves: Pakistan started the war, failed to take over kashmir, lost more land, men and equipment, ran out of ammunition, couldn't even talk about kashmir's freedom in negotiations, successfully isolated itself from America's support and got embargos, set stage for 1971 and economic instability. So yes very clear that pakistan lost as an aggressor.

Pakistan lost TWICE the land mass it could capture and wasn't able to even talk about Kashmir in negotiations. Just like in Balochistan there is a freedom movement and rebels bombing army bases and killing everyday punjabis but still Balochistan is Pakistani territory for better or for worse. How can it be a DRAW?? when Pakistan didn't achieve any target, and lost more land to India than India lost to Pakistan. Pakistan behaved like an Idiot, carried a knife to the fight, and when India pulled gun, Pakistan started crying for mercy and help. Soldiers from both side fought vigorously, gave their lives for their motherland. Heroism was recorded on both sides. But its the top brass of Pakistani Army who were incapable, unprofessional, idiots and fools. We shouldn't celebrate 6th September as a defence day at all. We imposed war on our neighbours and then achieved nothing. Neither India was able to dent Pakistan so hard that it should never ever think again of going into war with neighbours. Europe opened its border to neighbours for free movement and trade in 1985. And we still have one of the biggest armies, worth billions of dollars budget every year. All this budget could've been spent on joint progress, tourism, education and health etc etc. Men learn nothing from history.

The Pakistani objective of that war was to annex Kashmir. Indian objective was to defend Kashmir. Clearly India achieved its objective of defending Kashmir while Pakistan did not succeed in its objective of annexing Kashmir. Also, Pakistanis lost more land as well as military personnel. If you, Pakistanis, still think that the war was a stalemate then I guess not much can be expected out of you. Pakistan actually lost this war, they had lost more then 50% tanks (350+), most weapons of Pakistan were over, IF war had stretched Pakistan would lose more, but India had lal Bahadur Shastri who was peaceful Gandhian, he gave all captured land away (1900 sqft) including hajipir pass vs (540 sqft to pak.) , Pak. Was going to lose lahore in a reattack if war would go on , but before that India agreed for peace deal, hence he was xxxxx in taskent the next day.

Truely speaking neither India nor Pakistan won 1965 war. War ended in stalemate. Indian troops came upto BRB Canal unopposed and didn't find any Pakistani forces. Indian didn't advance further because they thought that it's strategy of Pakistan troops to encirle , cut their supply line and inhelate them. Moreover they avoided fighting in buildup area.

Pakistan which had 14% weapons towards end of war, but shastri as usual was a Gandhian and casually mistook (as many historians alleged was his approach as PM) or had soft corner for pakistan, in fact he derailed lots of Indias defence plans (but that's not related to this topic), the fact is india had won nearly 2000 sqft territory incl. The famous haji pir pass 10kms inside Pakistan Side Kashmir, which was important for Indian kashmirs Security, while Pakistan had 540sqft if India had executed its Reattack plans on Lahore things would have been different (if war had stretched) , so it is India which lost most in peace deal (2000 vs 540) that tells issue with Shastri, no PM in history would do such a deal (look at Russia and Ukraine war) even pak. Army would not settle if they had more terrority (1965), it tells there were issues with shastri and he wanted peace more then military gains. That's why he was xxxxx in Taskent (Read what happened to shastri in taskent after signing the deal that shows lots of people had issues with what he had done. ) (Regarding why India could not. Capture. Lahore or Sialkot is because they did not make strong attack but rather wait and watch & then go ahead approach (to this day military historians consider this as main blunder) giving Pakistan army enough time to resupply & attack, but in the process overall (all 1965 fronts combined) Pakistan lost lots of equipment) & lost 6000 men vs India's 2000 men .

1965 was probably the beginning of the end for Pak. Compared to India, Pakistan was in goldilocks zone, West largesse(ammunition and money), homogeneous muslim population, remittances from Mid-east, booming oil market, mid East investment in Islam in Pakistan, military industrial complex, alienation of China from Russian grip and brokering towards US etc... Looks like military industrial complex based economy only worked for US, every other country failed.
