Wow, just wow. Literal goosebumps. I read through the book of Mark today and I had so many questions for the Holy Spirit. I asked Him to show me the direction to take in regard to the Scripture (as in whether I should move on to the other Gospels or study Mark in depth), I hop on youtube and now I come across this series. A lot of my questions were answered today, and my eyes have been open to so many things they were closed to before. God bless you, Mike, and may He keep you till the end.

Please, please, please keep doing what you do. Guy #1 makes some supporting arguments for a number claims in the Bible, and some arguments against a number of other claims in the Bible. Guy #2 makes ONLY supporting arguments for all claims in the Bible. Which one of these is necessarily more biased? But do go on rooting for the guy who gets paid to reinforce your beliefs, and discredit any and all skepticism like an idiot. By definition, an idiot automatically rejects any beliefs contrary to his own. When you listen to Ehrman, he acknowledges the merit of certain scholarship which does not agree with his own conclusions. He also speaks with the historical terms of plausibility and probability. Winger uses evidence like maybe it seems that perhaps Papias was homies with the apostles in the 80s therefore we should totally believe him regarding Mark. 18:29

"Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." Philippians 2:3 Humbly serve others following the perfect example of Jesus. He said that He came not to be served but to serve others and give His life for others. (Matthew 20:28). Let us be humbled by the awesomeness and greatness of God and the unworthiness of ourselves. CS Lewis said that true humility is not thinking less of yourselves but rather thinking of yourself less. Let us look each day for opportunities to serve God and thus others, and be empowered by the Spirit to do these things glorifying God. Hopefully this impacted you positively today. God bless you!

1. Detail in Context 2. Theology 3. Application 4. Apologetics Sounds like a good program. I'm in. One side note: We know something about Mark because he put himself in the Gospel as a cameo. He was the streaker who ran away from the Garden of Gethsemane. He was dressed in a simple linen cloth because he was an Essene. If he got some Jewish practices wrong, it was because he was from a different sect. If you ever wondered who that guy was, it was Mark saying, "I was there to see it." And he talks so much about Peter because they were close companions all the way to Rome.

I also think that unless someone (Mark or whoever) had it in for Peter they wouldn't have included the denial, or that Peter was rebuked by Jesus, or was terrified at the transfiguration... UNLESS Peter told the author/scribe about the incidents and insisted that they be included. Especially if what the Catholics say was true... that Peter was a high and mighty bishop in Rome. (A reason against that tradition?)

I enjoyed and learned a lot from this video. I must admit I am a little jealous. I wish I had the time to study the multiple areas you delve into. I appreciate the manner in which you summarize your studies. I've heard so many people say that Matthew and Luke were based on Mark. I really doubt that, but I've never studied to prove or disprove it. That might be an interesting angle to throw into one of the Mark lessons.
