Legit… this is one of THE best endings to a series ever. Matalas knocks it right out of the park with this series. The twists keep coming and just so compulsively watchable. 😮

I loved this show. Ironically, I found it during the pandemic. I got to see the final season live having binged the earlier seasons.

You have no idea what's waiting for you. This show has so many more twists, you're not ready. The finale is the most satisfying, beautiful, perfect ending I've ever watched. Better than Six Feet Under, better than Breaking Bad, better than The Good Place. It's perfection. They answer EVERYTHING. Everything. And everything makes sense in the end despite Time Travel. Terry is a genius. The rewatch factor of this show is insane. The second watch is even more fun than the first. I watch it every year; I just can't stop. It's too good.

What @sandcake said here is exactly how I feel as well, the final episode is the signle best series ending that I have ever seen and will probably ever see. It gets beaten only by the second time watching it.

Light Spoilers: The thing i really didn’t appreciate until after the fact is that the time travel mechanisms themselves expand as time deteriorates which makes sense within the shows universe. First time travel/traveler? Terminator rules, strict and no nonsense. By the end when time is collapsing it’s practically time lord rules.

That feels like a good head-canon explanation for how it gets more crazy as it goes along. Where I’m at they are establishing what I referred to as ‘quantum leap’ style time travel - where people can jump back in time and inhabit past versions of themselves.

Terminator Sarah Conner Chronicles is well worth a look too; sadly cancelled just as it hit its stride. Light spoiler: in this show all the time travelers are from different futures where different AIs trigger the apocalypse at different times.

I loved the show so much that I was recently considering rewatching it... Again cause seeing what Terry did with Season 2 & 3 of PIC. But I think I will go back and rewatch Fringe first. Also, Wayward Pines was outstanding. Just pretend like the second season does not even exist.

The second season of wayward pines was a real let down. I recommend the book series - it has a different/better ending.

This show does a great job of escalating the stakes and it gets super hot and heavy at the end.

Also, as to how time travel works in Back to the Future. Marty McFly goes from 1985, from a square near Twin Pine Mall, to 1955 and crushes one of the pines that used to stay on that place and gave name to the mall. When he gets back to 1985, several minutes before his time of departure, he sees that it's a Lone Pine Mall now. So, reality has changed around him due to his actions, right? Then he sees himself going to 1955. Now that second Marty, who has always lived in that altered reality, must have wondered "why did they christened that mall 'Lone Pine Mall'? He goes to 1955, crushes a pine and thinks "That's why! So, was it always destined to happen?" Same goes for all the changes he did for his family, Doc Brown, Biff Tannan and so on. So, in BTTF it also works both ways.

As someone who really dint like the movie and avoided the show till after I saw Picard season 3 and learned Terry made both I just had to watch it. It was really, and I mean REALLY good.

Sooooo any chance of you revisiting this? I'm getting the sense that it's a bit too much drama and tragedy for me, but the twists sound really interesting! Would love a part 2 covering the rest of the series.
