Fellow Legends, welcome! Today we dive into the next theorem False Swipe gaming has released, the much anticipated Regigigas Theorem. Abilities in Pokemon are pivotal to success, and sometimes a distinct lack of an Ability. Regigigas with it's Slow Start Ability opens up a wide range of analyses for Pokemon that are both similar and different than it in regard to how Abilities shape the flow of battle. Honestly, the simplest answer would be to just flip Slow Start on it's head. Instead of having Regigigas be nerfed until five turns have passed, instead Slow Start should make it so he starts out normally, but after five consecutive turns he gets a massive BUFF to speed and strength. That way, instead of Gigas being a joke when he hits the field, he's a massive impending threat, a ticking time bomb. Because you know you have to get him off the field somehow, or else his attack and speed will max out on you.

Its not even a powerful pokemon compared to some of the other regis according to its lore it has slow start because its been reawakened after centuries of not being active. But in pokemon legends arceus, the game where no pokemon has any abilities. For some reason regigigas still has slow start, they had to specifically code that into a game where there wasnt even online battling

Honestly at this point you could make an argument that it shouldn't even have that ability anymore with how often modern day trainers have been messing with it.

Some Pokemon need certain abilities to be good, some could use better ones, and some get a weight limiter dragging them to the bottom of the ocean. Edit: Moody is why my Octillery; Boomstick, was a menace online back in the 3ds days.

Fun fact: Due to the way slow start works by halving its state total for speed and attack it effectively cuts its base speed to about 25 and attack to about 55. Making a max attack adamant Gigas weaker than rattata. And almost get out speed by scarfed shuckle blazingly fast 178 to Gigas 184.

I actually like the idea of giving Regigigas an ability based on having other Regis in the team. Maybe a cumulative thing, where the more (conscious) Regis there are as teammates, the more his own stats are buffed when he's sent out. Like, give every major stat (so not accuracy or evasiveness) one stage buff per Regi. You could even reduce his base stats if that would be too overpowering with his current spread. So you can either try to win by stacking up your team specifically to make Regigigas an nigh-unstoppable, or maybe pack one or two other Regis and have your other team try and cover weaknesses.

Bad ability or not, Regigigas will always be my favorite Legendary. I do wish he would be fixed up a little though.

@DracotheDarkPrince I like mono teams. Dragon is arguably my favorite, but imo, they all kinda play the same. Bug has a little more variety on their strategies.

How would u enforce something like the sleep clause? Is there something that stops it from happening or if 1 player has a sleeping pokemon are the other no longer allowed to even use a move like Spore. Also does that include self imposed sleep like Rest or does it only count if the opponent caused the sleep.

Regigigas should get a new move that, depending on how many *different* Regis you have in your party, will boost Regigigas out of being bad. We can call it King of Regis. Has only 1 PP and is high priority so Slow Start doesn't fuck him over. If you have in your party: 1 Regi: Halves the stat decreases of Slow Start 2 Regis: Negates the stat decreases of Slow Start 3 Regis: Removes the stat decreases of Slow Start and boosts the previously decreased stats by 1. 5 Regis: Reverses the effects of Slow Start. Of course the weakness of this strategy is once you get switched out, you no longer have pp to the move and you're back to having a worthless Pokemon.

And then get phased by whirlwind/roar or red card, dragon tail... or worse, walled by Unaware.. Quagsire gives no Fs to your boosts
