Enemy ball just hack him, screw the packs you burst him so fast its hard for him to play the game if you focus him, you dont really need the kill at that point hes fighting for his life in most circumstances.

@RadarFinsR2 ай бұрын
@@dongdoodler yes and no, the thing about the health packs is on all the best ball maps there are two megas close to a good fight spot, which allows ball to get 500 burst healing while playing "solo" in the back line, backing off to heal up while a lot better on ball loses all your momentum as an agressive dive tank the more you disruipt enemy backlines the more your team is able to get work done. none of these key healthpacks really take much time to get to, don't waste time psuedoafking to get bad packs but in koth for example there's a lot of maps that have 2 megas right next to each other which are easy to hack before or after a fight. also ball heals faster than the 20s because of the shields but in most games if you go afk as tank for 10 seconds you've probably lost the fight teams and the previously mentioned aggression, also hacking ball when he's capable of crab walking to a nearby mega makes your kill attempt almost impossible unless you whole team is dumping ball If anything is good advice for sombras it's to hack on piledriver to deny damage and disrupt the enemy balls playstyle as it's very annoying to have to setup a piledriver when you think you'll get hacked and it's your largest damage ability if used correctly. tl;dr yes but also no, map dependent and time dependent

My thought about the "should QP be taken seriously": You should try to win in QP always, but you can set your own rules, or at least some rules. Rules that you are allowed to set for yourself include hard-locking on whatever hero you wish, regardless of how good you are at that hero or how it works with your team or against the opposing team. Within that parameter, you must try to win.

That is unless the play style switch seems to fix the issue. If it doesn't, I usually have a set 2 or 3 characters per role that I play depending on the session. Switch to one of those, try my best, and repeat the process if there's time and it's necessary. I don't always go with the optimal pick tho cuz I'm trying to have fun first and foremost

The thing with hacking health packs is that is has to be with purpose. Hacking a health pack does two things: heals your allies faster, and denies healing to the enemy team. If you're gonna hack a health pack you have to consider the opportunity of either of those things to happen. Using New Queen Street for example, you can hack a health pack near a teammate that likes to stay back so they have extra healing if pressured, like on 2nd point high ground. For the other case, you can hack the mega pack inside the hall in the middle of the map to deny mobile heroes like Tracer of that closeby healing they often go for. The *timing* also matters a LOT. Not only because it means you aren't shooting or getting in position for an assassination, but also because hacking when an enemy is nearby is giving away your position and you can get punished. If you hack with purpose, you can save your Ana in the back line, or deny a escaping Reaper of healing to finish him off, and both feel reaaaaally good
@Yasha_U2 ай бұрын
+1 this. Stop hacking healthpack for the heck of it. If you want to take extra area security, you can hack healthpacks like near Illios Ruins just next to the point since a lot of fights happen there, and that Mega is quite the popular pick me up. You can hack that to help your team fighting there or deny enemy team of a pick me up. Sombra is a very timing and dependant hero. Utilize the two and you can easily become the #1 target on your enemies radar, until you switch off to soldier or somethin else

Am I right in guessing it was Questron who emphasized not hacking health packs? If so, he's saying so because his YOU MUST DO THIS thrust is always "Maximize uptime" - the longer you're out of the fight, the less value you provide. It's also why he hates spawn camping - not because the kill isn't valuable, but because you usually spend so much time in transit that you're losing a big chunk of that value when you could be in the fight. KarQ phrases it well when he says it's about priorities. Watch a guy like Fitzy - he hacks health packs, he spawn camps, but he does so in the flow of "Always doing something, always creating value." If you're running by a health pack and the voice line won't give away your next move, go ahead and hack it - the CD is so short afterwards there's literally no reason not to. Crossing that coast side Mega on Esperanca? Hack that mofo - everyone goes for that during retreats/rotation, denying it to the enemy could be big. Don't leave an in progress fight to go for a pilgrimage across the map to spawn camp someone, but if the main fight's won and you can delay the next fight with an easy spawn camp? Definitely. The primary reason lower level Sombras don't provide value is that they waste too much time out of the fight. Always be generating value, always be annoying, never leave their minds.

I've noticed as a Sombra main that the more time you spend hacking health packs, the higher the enemy's awareness of you becomes. You want to surprise them and increase the likelihood that they overreact/overinvest to your hack/virus combo, but you don't want them be inured to the fact that you're there and getting used to your habits. I'm training myself to only hack health packs that are immediately relevant to where the fight is taking place, or on the fallback route for the enemy team to prevent them from getting a quick re-engage.
@RobertBarry19692 ай бұрын
It is about cool downs, right? If the battle is over and you are resetting for the next fight, hack a pack and your cooldown will be back when you need it.
@flowerboy96112 ай бұрын
Yeah the tip is a lil outdated. This held a lil more weight back with old transloc and you'd likely be setting up to recall there anyway. There's plenty of times you SHOULD hack meds now. If you're low on health picking up a mini > hacking it so it recovers faster > picking it up again is a fine way to recover health semi quickly to get back into team fights faster
@bitnn47032 ай бұрын
Yeah, you shouldn't hack healthpacks in the middle of a fight. Set it up before the fight happens or when its ending and you should be fine. You should also take into consideration if the next fight is going to be where the health pack is, especially on Gamemodes with constantly changing fight locations like Push. If you think the next fight will be close to the health pack, hack it. If not, don't bother. Or do. As long as you get your cooldown back before the next fight it really doesn't matter.
@Real_MisterSir2 ай бұрын
It's not just about cooldowns, it's also about likelihood that you'll even benefit from that hack in the near future. Sure if it's close to the next team fight proximity and you expect to get pressured, hacking a pack can be great (or to deny enemy support their health pack option if you intend to duel them). However, the main reason is simply related to relevant uptime. If you think -even between fights, that hacking health packs is time well spent, then you're missing out on a lot of things you should be doing. Scouting is the number one priority, and scouting demands that you're ALWAYS around the enemy team, seeing what they're doing, which heroes they're on, which positions they're taking, and what the timing for the next fight is going to be. Instead of wasting time hacking a health pack, you should be zooming towards the enemy spawn and scout their every move on their way to the next team fight, so you have the optimal setup for your next engage, and you can relay info to your team too if need be. One of the main reasons Sombra has a low winrate, is due to low uptime. It's very easy to waste time on her because you're free to do anything without consequence, so you never feel rushed to do anything. But you have the power to always be doing something, and this is a responsibility on you as a player to make full use out of, always. Uptime in scouting, uptime in farming ult, uptime in providing active value and not wishful value. Health pack hack value just isn't high or consistent enough to ever prioritize over scouting info. Simple as that.

I would say, that i dont agree with the "should qp be taken seriously". The answer is - Yes, to an extend. If you are queing up to play with others, in a game about winning - play to win. Even if it is qp, that doesn't justify wasting other peoples time by doing anything else than the objective of the game mode - to win. If you feel like fooling around, do a custom game. Some people dont have time to play comp nor want the stress that come with that pressure - but just because the rank pressure is gone in qp, that doesnt make it any less worth than rank. Note, i am saying you should take qp super serious - just that you should do stuff that completely waste your teams time like afking or throwing complete. Experimenting and stuff like that is fine, as long as you do your best to still win and help your team. Otherwise - go play with bots.

10:36 I think Rein would be worse than Hog in this specific composition. They both have around the same amount of counters, but Rein is less capable of one-shotting and can't actively attack without reducing his defensive capabilities. Additionally, Rein, Widow and Sombra all have very different optimal positioning, which is fine with most tanks, but Rein has neither the mobility or the range to reliability assist either of them should they get jumped, meaning the supports will typically need to be the DPS' backup - except Rein also tends to be pretty demanding on support-resources when he gets focused, meaning Lucio and Mercy are already going to struggle to keep him up BEFORE they're having to zoom all over the place to help their DPS. Picking Rein here stretches everyone too thin and always leaves at least one major vulnerability wide open.

i think the worst comp in most ranks and could only work with a team of onetricks in each respective character is JunkQ, Sombra, torb, mercy, and zenyatta . Every person on the team would be susceptible to dying way more often against pretty much any team comp as there is essentially no real synergy between any of them besides junkq/genji or sombra/genji ult so maybe since their ult together is essentially a teamwide ana nade with a side of blade or a teamwide hack with blade. Torb, Mercy, and Zen ult are all defensive ults that can be kited pretty easy whenever they are used offensively on their own. again the only value i see is the junkq/sombra genji ult dump but even then in this day and age a cracked ana could genuinely shut that shit down on her own if not with the help of any other swaps that might be made which will then nullify the only good ult combo. which then leaves the comp to get absolutely dumpstered throughout every neutral on most if not all maps. they would have to ult dump to get value at all which comes at the cost of getting actually owned in the neutral everytime which i think is what makes the worst comp the worst comp, one that cant even win a neutral anywhere against any other comp combo.

Hmm... For countering my main, Brigitte, I would say: if she's playing closer to the front line (this is how I prefer to play - she might do this if she has no dive to worry about), keep track of when she has shield bash and when she doesn't. If you notice her use shield bash and you're in a position to punish her, do it. Her team might have to expend cooldowns to save her, or compromise positioning. In the best case scenario, she dies. This is true no matter what role you're playing, by the way! Of course, if you're Ram or Rein, it's obvious you can push her, but if you're Ana for example, you can hit her with an anti by throwing it at the ground near her, which is difficult to block, and most DPS can directly threaten her with the right positioning.

Worst team comp: Mercy Lucio Bastion Ball Venture Neither Mercy nor Lucio has any major momentum-swing abilities like Nade, Suzu, Immo field, etc. And they also don't really match in playstyles and where they want to be on the map. Ball doesn't want to stand still, and he doesn't want to brawl in the frontline, plus he has situational impact rather than consistent impact. This makes it very hard for Bastion to really capitalize off of engages, and also won't have much space to work with since he'll be very open and exposed any time he goes into turret mode. Venture does not have any long range, has some mobility, but also doesn't want to really play as a dive hero so they won't synergize much with Ball in general, and also won't get any benefit from playing at range with Bastion. This means Venture is more likely to be isolated in order to play at their own optimal range and space, which would split the team. Lucio providing speed boost doesn't really benefit any hero except Bastion in turret form, but even here the outcome is limited as Bastion is exceptionally exposed on his own, which he will be a majority of the time, and even Mercy dmg amp won't do much against any CC coming his way. In terms of ults, you also don't really have anything that synergizes. Nothing is inherently bad, and Lucio ult ensures your team won't get wiped by visor or blade etc, but you won't gain any advantage over an enemy comp. Also in general the comp is very susceptible to ranged poke and flyers, which offer a ton of value here at the skill floor vs this comp, making it super easy to counter and pressure out of any space on the map. Half the team wants to hold space and push slow, while the other doesn't want to hold any space for more than a few seconds and instead just runs around skirmishing.

If you dont hack a health pack, the enemy will run away to a mega if they engage in a duel with you, usually far from their team, in a close space (the two megas on numbani first, for example), and you as a sombra want to lure the enemies to a bad position and win the duel, but if he knows the mega is hacked, there's no reason for them to isolate themselves, so usually the best scenarios is one of the two: a) you get them low without taking damage and let them take the mega, and re-engage from a different angle (you'll probably win if you have virus) Or b) get them low, chase them, translocate to the pack and finish them off (or hack the pack first, as they're running or reloading if you fell you're gonna mess something up, it's up to you) But yeah, for me, not hacking a pack it's more of a psychological tool than anything, you usually wanna hack if there's a highly mobile tank in the team.

there are two BIG things to take into account for hacking health packs: 1) does this health pack need to be utilized by a hero? ball players, flankers, enemy and ally all need health packs to sustain into their respective backlines, so denying, providing health packs is essential to influence their value. the further they need to go, the longer it takes for them to go back into the fight. 2) does hacking this health pack provide value? sounds similar, but this is more for EVERY hero, there are spots in the map where a health pack is near a objective and its where supports tend to stick around, for example, first point hollywood, hacking that mini health pack in the defenders little house is HUGE for keeping your supports alive. and its imo more important then hacking the two megas.

If people take quickplay seriously, they wouldn't throw the match when teammates don't play the heroes they want them to play. Instead they would want to win anyway and try their best anyway. I see quickplay as a casual mode, in which - yes, you should try to win, but you are free to do whatever you want to reach that goal. Otherwise you wouldnt be able to learn any new heroes or try something new.

Hack Healthpacks where the fight is most likely to happen. This way your team is more likely to use them and the enemy team is more likely to not be able to use them. If you hack a healthpack thats really far away from the main objective, its pointless. Sure, you could get your hack back before you enter the next fight, but its still obsolete. Health Packs like the Mega Pack at the Robot's starting point on Runasapi are good examples of what you should hack. Its close to a basically nessecary fight, meaning your team can derive extra value from it and the enemy can get zero value from it. Its also VERY useful for the Sombra, as it has decent cover around it and the walls around it don't connect to a ceiling, meaning you can throw your translocator either TO the healthpack (if you need health) or AWAY from the healthpack (if you already got the health) and the enemy team will have a much harder time chasing you, and you can do it from basically any angle.
@BlaizeTheDragon2 ай бұрын
There's certainly health packs worth hacking and keeping hacked. Oasis Gardens is a good example. The small health kit directly next to the point and the mega inside the small hut at the major choke point. Keeping those under your control will keep the high mobility heroes starved quick healing when they need it most or for your own benefit.
@Oscar-yw1vl2 ай бұрын
Since Sombra got a health nerf,getting a hacked health pack is slightly more helpful. Her speed buff to Stealth also allows her to quickly get back to your team after hacking a health pack.*

I would only rarely run to go Hack a health pack, especially since the duration is lower now. The only times I would prioritize Hacking is if there's a key pack near where my team is holding strong, like the one right next to the objective on a Control map if my team has control over the point. On the other hand, there are a lot of times where Hacking a health pack is free, since the Hack animation is fast and doesn't de-stealth you. So if I happen to run past one I'll Hack it. And if I'm grabbing one myself I'll Hack it.

I don't see Brig being any kind of support answer to Dva. Yeah her healing can't be eaten, so there's that, but with the tank resistance to boops and Dva's very short booster cooldowns whipshot isn't really making any significant distance, and if Dva decides to dive Brig micro missiles is eating her shield with no problem and dva is killing her. The reality is Dva's DM is extremely problematic and there isn't much supports can do against DVA. If you team can't keep her in check there isn't much you can do about it as a support.

As a newer player I would disagree with you to a degree on quickplay. First as you know you have to meet a standard just to get access to competitive. Then as you don't know what you are doing you are trying to get experience in playing. How are you supposed to know if it's you or not if you have 2-3 players slacking off? I get it from your side that it's just to chill. Though when you haven't really been in competitive much or in the beginning at all, how do you then get the experience needed to start diving in? If you are going to play the game then play. As someone is trying to get the foot in the door I feel like you should be setting the tone. At least play a solid bronze or silver. Like I understand it's quickplay, but don't throw just because it's quickplay.
@whateverlol932 ай бұрын
Hacking health packs gives your location away, is extremely loud and she always makes a stupid voice line. There is context, when you roll out at the start and the enemy doesn't know where you are: don't hack any packs, go for the kill or harassment. Hack only if you know you will be chased and you need that multiple times. You don't even need to hack if you aren't being chased, you can pick one pack and let natural regeneration kick in. Hack if you are already discovered; to deny people from taking it to heal your virus, which might even prevent a kill. Hack when there're enemy Hammonds or Tracer or just anyone who relies on those highly, but your first order of priority is not to go and hack packs. In fact, don't even go pick up packs. A lot of higher leveled players shoot at packs to "spy check" all the time, especially if you're low. Some of them play Sombra themselves and can easily guess what you're doing. Just go the other way and let regeneration tick in. Or if you have a LW or Ana, they might even sneak a heal in from afar. People who say QP is for fun and "so what" when you lose due to them, that's just being selfish. Sure. Quickplay has no stakes and is the 'casual mode'. But you're "having fun" at the expense of four, or even nine other people. That is pure self-entitlement. And let's be real, there is no way you're having fun when you're potentially inciting flame from your teammates, being laughed by enemies in all chat, constantly seeing a gray respawn screen and eventually the "Defeat" screen. If you don't care enough cause you barely play OW, it's still the same level of self-entitlement and selfishness. Honestly, if you're not great at the game it's whatever, or barely play. But if you're just trolling and doing things that're clearly not going to work "because it's QP", that's not okay. Most support players can play well when unchecked, many of them crumble under pressure. So yeah do what KarQ said and pressure them, some LW players jump off their platform at the slightest bit of damage, when they could've been relatively safe there compared to jumping down. And they just jump right into the fight reactionarily. Many Mercy players are crouch spammers and will always fly up when shot at, even though they shouldn't. You can force out Suzu from so many jumpy Kiriko players just by shooting them a bit.

So it's the same issue where KZbinrs were saying stop healing as support. Not explaining to lower skill players that it meant don't be a heal bot. It's amazing to me that a lot of KZbinrs lack the ability to articulate. I've had some of the dumbest arguments because of that.

Speaking of getting caught on things, I'm surprised by how often Blizzard map designers put little things sticking out. I haven't played Team Fortress 2 in like 7 years now, but one thing I DO remember about it is that it had a lot less debris and corners tended to be flush so you wouldn't catch on them. The corners that weren't flush were sometimes clipped (i,e, invisible walls that were slanted inwards) so you'd sorta slide into the doorway if you backed into the wrong spot.

so for me yes QP isn't meant to be competitive, but I at least want it to not be a miserable experience so if you pick ball or doom as tank, brigit lucio or mercy as heals, or widow hanzo dps, I expect from the get go itll be miserable because unless you are god tier top 500 with them you are going to be dead weight, or leroy jenkins into the enemy team then blame heals while trying to 1v5 them while everyone else is still at spawn, or spam super jumps and fkly throguh the entier enemy team to get that "clutch res" while using your super to blaster. outsides that I get people might be practicing their les used characters but please if you 0 kill 1 assist to 50 deaths because you are being out sniped by their widows please swap for crying out loud, you cant be having fun doing that so don't make everyone else game worse just to get that tiktoc montage -.-
