As someone who's been a nurse for 4 years, my opinion is the medical institution has a lot of people who don't care too much about you the patient. And also nursing is not a science the foundation is scientific but basically it's trial and error. That's coming from my friend who is in ICU registered nurse. We don't really know what's going on in nursing. We don't know what's going to help and what's not. It's just trial and error. If you want to stay at home and gamble that way you can it's fine. You think a hospital is going to always save you. It's really not the case.

Hospitals have become business enterprises in america. I'm not sure if it's like that all over the world but it is in america. They want to make money off of you you are a customer. Sometimes it's in their best interest to get you well and out of the hospital sometimes they kick you out too early and you're still sick. Other times it's in their best interest to put you on a ventilator even when you don't need it until later and then when you're on a ventilator you decline rapidly and then you're dead in the hospital makes money from all that. You are a business to them. Your body's a business. Your sickness and illness is a business. It's not about making you well that's just the side effect they hope. But it's first the business

If you have family at home that you live with in your rural area sometimes that will actually be better than the nurses at the hospital that are overstaffed and stressed out and really don't know you. There's lots of emotional psychological factors for recovery or staying ill and doctors and nurses aren't going to be able to understand 60 years of your emotional psychological profile of how your endorphins are going to react what's going to make you strong and happy and what's going to make you decrepit. Sometimes they do things and it just slows you down and it makes you weaker. They keep you in a bed when you're in the hospital you're not allowed to walk you're not allowed to do anything. And the patient comes home and they have a stage four bedroom down to their bone. And then they're going to get sepsis they're going to get infections so don't sell me on how glorious and wonderful hospitals are that they're going to make you better. Are these kinds of plants allowed to sit immediately behind a person invited to testify? This interview would have been more convincing if . . . in addition to Dr. Birx, an actual marginalized person had been present and listened to. Why have a privileged and educated person like Dr. Birx speak _for_ the marginalized? Why not have an actual marginalized person speak for themselves? This exclusion is actually a missed opportunity to _actually_ do what she suggests, rather than just talk about it while _doing_ the opposite. This reminds me of what I hated about the Lahrer news program - he always had experts on the panel to discuss other people, rather than to have the actual other people. Why have an _expert_ discuss his/her view of someone else, when you could have the actual person? Rather than being informative, this just ended up being a flagrant example of marginalizing people who are not educated academically in the way that you feel comfortable with - ie, biased.
