The principle idea with soft power is people want to be those people, not how much money they have or how successful they are. Indians have gained a bad reputation for generally being dirty and perverted when they're poor, and egotistical bullies with a kiss up and punch down mentality when they're successful. Millions flood the United States because they want to be American or for money. It's very rare to see people immigrate to India to be Indian, it's almost always for money. if it's even possible for a non-Indian to be that if they immigrate. Also the population size is unsettling for a lot of people. I found it rather shocking to find out that India has more people than all of North America and South America combined. It's insane.

An Asian could (theoretically) become president but he or she would have to check some boxes - Staunchly Christian, someone who would have to put down Asian culture and uphold a narrow quasi white worshiping ‘American’ culture, and essentially echo a lot of the biases of the ‘average’ voter. A lot of non white, non Black, communities that come to America tend to misunderstand the whole Black vs white racial binary of America. Essentially, white and Black are two sides of the same coin. While Black people might be viewed negatively in America, they are still seen as unquestionably American,(well ADOS are) perhaps not the "right kind" of American, but American nonetheless. Other groups will have to go through hoops to prove their Americanness, but will always been seen as a perpetual foreigner by certain demographics. They think that by putting down Black people and other immigrants they can curry favor with WASPs. If you're not white or Black, you will never fully be seen by everyone as American, and even if you take part in putting down other communities, that doesn't guarantee you any support from the WASP community. It's essentially a zero sum game that you can't win. The solution for Latinos, Indians, Asians, etc isn't to align with whiteness, but to work with everyone (Black and whites included) to dismantle the binary of race in America. But, I don't see that happening any time soon. Or to just "outbreed" everyone else. Also weird point, but Ann Coulter has adopted black kids… ***Edit, sorry no she doesn't have any kids and is unmarried. ***

The German vs. English thing David mentioned is a little more complicated, but I think what he said is definitely part of it. In a way though, we actually see more of the opposite, where the primary British founding stock of the country who actually founded all the institutions, wrote all the original laws, mainly built the country from scratch, etc., identify as different groups like Scottish, Welsh, Scots-Irish, etc., and aren't all English. At the same time, they're also the most likely group (especially the English in specific) to identify either as "American" as if that's an ethnicity, or to identify as no ethnicity at all and just think of themselves as somekind of barely human generic placeholder (which makes them extra susceptible to woke identity politics reducing them to oppressive skin tone and skull shape) who has no culture or ethnicity or right to legal personhood basically. The Germans are actually a bunch of different tribes (Saxons [same group that formed the Saxon part of the Anglo-Saxons], Bavarians [similar to Austria], Franks [same group the French are named after], etc.), but instead of all identifying as different groups like the Brits, they all just unify under the name German, so that's another reason why they seem like a higher proportion than the British. Also, the Irish are genetically and culturally extremely similar to the Scottish, Welsh, and Scots-Irish, but they have baggage with the UK similar to how Korea is with Japan for example, even though they speak the same language (and contrary to popular assumption, the British never forced them to speak English, but the mothers voluntarily spoke to their children in English as a way to raise their status, prospects, etc.). The Irish and other Celtic groups are disproportionately large in the diaspora compared to how tiny they are in the British Isles themselves compared to the English, so the British diaspora in the US, Canada, Australia, and NZ is proportionally more Celtic than they are in the British Isles, although the British (including Irish) diaspora is still mostly Germanic/Saxon overall if you lump them all in together as one group (obviously the Irish in isolation are overall Celtic, though). But anyway, the main reason people will identify more with the English or British heritage is because we all speak English mainly, and also they founded the country and conceived all its laws and original culture, etc., which the Germans, Dutch, and Scandinavians later assimilated into before the Irish, Italian, Eastern European, Asian, and other waves later on. So we've always had a "special relationship" with Britain, not Germany, even not long after the war that France and Spain helped the US win against Britain. The German war guilt does affect peoples pride in identification though, in a way that's also a little bit present in the Japanese but not nearly as extremely, and barely present in the Russians (Holodomor, etc.), and beyond nonexistent in the CCP (actively denying it with c-word-ship, even abroad) for anything they did to any other non-Han group since they're kind of still doing all that stuff now.

I always find it interesting when minority candidates embrace and espouse conservative ideology as it is often against policies they benefited from themselves. Vivek has spoken against birthright citizenship when he is only a citizen because he was born in the U.S. while both his parents were immigrants. It's the same you see with other candidates who are against Affirmative Action and other policies and programs that assist minority and lower income individuals. No matter the color of your skin, to get ahead in conservative politics you have to sound and think like a white conservative.

After Affirmative Action was banned… turned out Asian admission rates lowered and white admissions rose. Some Asians (Vietnamese, Cambodians, Laotians, Hmong, etc..) have fairly low college attendance rates but get grouped in with wealthier Asian immigrant families like Indians, Chinese, and Koreans when talking about college admittance. So many Southeast Asians are finding themselves with lower college attendance rates when the goal was to take spots from black and Latinos. Lesson learned is solidarity with minorities and not falling for the conservative white wedge issues used to divide minority solidarity (if such a thing exists)

I’m Asian American, and I will never vote for Vivek because he is a Hindu. I don’t believe religions like Hinduism is compatible with Western values mainly because of its caste system. Vivek is a Brahmin (highest caste) and he will strive to create a society where privileged people maintain power, wealth, and influence. There is a reason why he identifies with the Republican Party. Western liberalism, for the most part, tries to create a more equal society by investing in public education, healthcare, housing, etc., so that those who were born into poor families can also have a chance to succeed. There’s no doubt that Vivek worked hard to achieve some of his wealth but a lot of it has to do with him just being born into a Brahmin family that had accumulated generational wealth. India is a terrible role model for any civilization because it’s a society with very few rich people and many poor people. For example, most upper caste Indian families will never allow their sons and daughters to marry someone from the lower caste. As far as income inequality is concerned, there’s no such thing as a perfect country. However, first world countries like the US, UK, EU, Japan, South Korea, etc., are considered “first world” because most people living in those countries are middle class. Very few people living in first world countries are poor nor rich because wealth is more equally distributed compared to third world countries like India. I agree with you that the US has some income inequality.
