Dr. Gundry I have been in Italy for 15 years, many italian nutrition specialists advise women to eat soy products to better deal with the symptoms of menopause. It has been proven that Japanese women, including Chinese soy consumers, are asymptomatic in menopause compared to Italian women. I would like to know your opinion, thank you 😊

I was born and raised in Italy. I had pasta, pizza, rice...all carbohydrates, and I have never been sick. When I moved to the U.S (because I married an American man) that's when I started to have trouble despite the fact that I have maintained my balanced healthy Mediterranean diet (however pasta on the market is not definitely the same as the Italian pasta here in the states)

I stayed at a hotel in Italy back in the early 90's during college for several months. The hotel always had fresh warm bread and Nutella on the table before food was served. Maybe they mostly catered to tourists and they thought that's what we wanted to eat. I ate all kinds of bread, pasta, pizza, gelato and came back home weighing less because you mostly walk everywhere.

I am half Italian and half Polish. My parents only fed me real food and olive oil was a staple as far back as I can remember. My father was from Calabria and lived to 94 years of age. I have also been to that town in southern Naples and all of Italy really and I find that the Italians are very very small people compared to the Americans. I love that Dr Gundry loves the Italians, olive oil and dogs 🐕 😘

It's interesting to note that American pasta is loaded with glyphosate, whereas Italian pasta does not. American organic pasta will not contain any glyphosate.

Totally agree . However wheat flour has changed over the decades. True to say that now gluten has become a serious issue there too so there are alternatives to wheat pasta but many are are soy based... and there are other issues as well... which have over time given the result there is currently.

quality of the food is the biggest reason. I grew up in Slovenia (not quite Italy, but same fresh ingredients, healthy natural food) and I used to eat meat, white bread, pasta etc. all the time. No problems ever, I didn't get sick even once in 8 years. When I moved to Finland, the quality of the food there is absolutely horrendous. I eat only wholegrain bread and pasta (if I eat those at all), mostly fish, pizza like once a month, more fruits, trying to find the healthiest food possible....I still got high cholesterol and blood pressure and I get sick again. My diet is way "healthier" but my health is significantly worse than it was. The quality of the food is SOOOO important. Here everything is packed with chemicals, processed and produced in the cheapest industrial way possible, there are no quality markers on the products, nothing. Even the "healthy" food is clearly trash. Italians are healthy because their food isn't processed into oblivion.

Excellent video again Dr. Gundry. The main focus is on limiting bread and pasta. I use to eat whole grain bread and whole wheat pasta as a part of my diet as well as pizza. by eliminating the harmful grains and processed foods made from them I lost 60 pounds in basically cured myself of most of my ailments. Of course this was all a part of following the Plant Paradox Program. Great stuff and always learning, Thanks!!!
@asanta20236 жыл бұрын
Hi James, I'm changing my eating plan to Dr. Gundry's and have already seen great results. If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been on the Plant Paradox and do you miss eating pizza? Lol! Thanks!
@jamestillman98106 жыл бұрын
Actually you can still have pizza but you have to make it with cauliflower crust and ingredients on the "Yes Please" List. There is a great recipe in "The Plant Paradox Cookbook". The caveat is that you have to wait till Phase III when you can begin adding back in some lectin foods like tomato sauce. The sauce must be made from tomatoes that the skin and seeds are removed. You must make sure your gut is completely healed. I have not tried the recipe as of yet. I don't miss the standard pizza since my microbes are balanced and the foods I desire to tend more towards the large varieties of organic green leafy and cruciferous vegetables and well as the resistance starches like sweet potatoes, yams and millet. As for how long I have been on the program and the results are described below: I gradually changed my diet as described in the book and the results were startling. James Tillman’s health before gradually transitioning to “The Plant Paradox Program” March 10, 2017: At 6'1" tall, I was 60 years old and weighed 247 lbs and would fluctuate between 243 to 250 lbs. for the past few years with a 42 to 43 inch waist. I worked out 6 days a week doing Taebo (a form of kickboxing/martial arts), light weight and resistance training, speed walking and eating what I thought was a healthy diet based on the USDA Food Pyramid including whole grains, fruit, meat, dairy and vegetables. These were the health issues below: I. Depression II. Could only sleep a couple of hours straight at night without waking up III. Tired all the time even after workouts, and had to take a 20 to 30 minute nap at work mid day IV. Mental Fatigue or brain fog, difficulty concentrating, difficult remembering and saying the right words (these were gradually getting worse) V. Hungry at night which caused waking up for a snack and constant trips to get snacks while watching TV VI. Incontinence: Had to go to the bathroom several times a night/had several accidents because I could make it to the Restroom in time during the day VII. I could not control my cravings especially in the evening VIII. Have High blood Pressure and on medication for it and it was still averaging 150 over 100 IX. Was diagnosed as Pre-Diabetic X. Had frequent gas, bloating, constipation XI. Skin tags and protruding moles XII. Periodic Colds/Flu Symptoms XIII. Allergy symptoms like watery eyes and runny nose when outside around plants James Tillman’s health after going on the Plant Paradox Program for 12 months. Nothing else such as exercise changed. The results were astonishing and changed my life: As of August 1, 2018, I now weigh 189 lbs (loss of nearly 60 lbs.) with a 32 inch waist and have experienced a number of positive results I. Depression is gone II. I now sleep up to 6 hours straight at night without waking up, and when I wake up, I am refreshed III. No longer tired and seem to have unlimited energy even after workouts, and no longer had to take a 20 to 30 minute nap mid day IV. No longer hungry at night which caused waking up for a snack and constant trips to get snacks while watching TV V. Incontinence is completely gone: No longer had to go to the bathroom several times a night and no more accidents because I could make it to the Restroom in time during the day VI. No longer have cravings especially in the evening/ and the food I do desire at times is healthy VII. No longer have gas, bloating or constipation: I am completely regular VIII. Blood pressure dropped to 135 over 85 (still taking medication) IX. Skin tags disappeared and protruding moles shrunk/flattened out. X. No longer Pre-diabetic XI. Rarely get any flu or cold symptoms and when I do they are not as severe XII. No longer have any allergy symptoms XIII. I feel like a different person almost like I’m rejuvenated/ enhanced somehow in every area. Sharper, smarter, stronger, better concentration, high energy etc. It is really weird at times almost like out of a science fiction movie. My physique looks similar to what it did when I was running track in college 40 years ago. I have literally de-aged in many respects. XIV. My filtered tap Water now tastes sweet instead of plain or bitter XV. I am mentally sharper, Brain Fog lifted and no longer have problems remembering how to spell word. XVI. The gradual slurring of speech disappeared. I have tried a number of dietary approaches over the years including, Atkins, Paleo, weight watchers etc. and this is beyond anything I have been able to do and maintain. By simply changing my diet and eliminating toxic lectin foods which in turn also corrected my microbe imbalance my body literally healed itself.

James Tillman Thank you James for responding. I had another KZbinr respond also about Dr. Gundry’s plan and he advised that he threw out everything that was not good in his food pantry and just followed Dr Gundry’s plan and he eats like that every single day and it has had amazing results for him. I just will have to make drastic changes and because I live with a family member who is a teenager, I will have to see how I can manage my plan and theirs. Because I don’t think they’re going to want to follow my plan lol... Dr Gundry’s plan sounds like it’s definitely for me. I know I need it. I know he also advised regarding using blue blocking glasses which helps for sleeping. Am ordering those as well. I was in the military and have several medical issues which I need help with (one is depression) and hope this will help. Thank you again!
@RobCee4ever6 жыл бұрын
Anders Julian Firstly, thank you for your service and God bless. And secondly you will see drastic changes for the better as long as you stick to the lectin free diet as much as possible. Also, regarding your young ones, well mine didn't like any thing I made at first but slowly they got used to it and now they even have their own favorite lectin free dishes. It will take some time to get used to this way of life but once you are used to it, you will never go back. I wish you the best of luck!

@jamestillman98106 жыл бұрын
I agree they are major issues. But, what I find if your body is constantly fighting inflammation due to a poor diet, stress as well as depression has a greater impact. On the other hand if you are eating the foods that nourish both you and your good gut microbes along with getting a decent amount of sleep, your body pumps out feel good endorphins much more often making it easier to handle stress.

Allopathic medicine cannot treat anal fistula‘s anywhere in the world except for India & it was treated with herbs . I just ordered your book I’m gonna follow your diet and I will let you know. The interesting thing is I eat the traditional Italian diet, I’m very thin 115 lbs but I have a list of things that’s wrong. I’ll be honest with you I’m not that thrilled about being on a diet Italians have a hard time with diet and we love our pasta but I’m gonna give it a try.

@Dustwheel3 жыл бұрын
@@emiliocus2560 Most of what he said is not true. Pasta and pizza is not "modern" and the idea that Italians use pasta as a means to get olive oil and veg into their diet is misleading....Italians love pasta! Infact we cant stand to eat it drenched in heavy sauces. We love olive oil but pasta isn't used as a vehicle for it. Its ridiculous. Italians are healthy because they traditionally stayed away from corporate processed foods and do not overeat. A lot of walking as well. I'm afraid the good doctor may be trying to push his "theories". Historically the Italian people could not afford meat and gallons of olive oil. Peasant food, bread, pasta, polenta, veg, wine, vinegar, tomatoes, cheese, and fish if you're from the coast. PASTA TUTTI I GIORNI!

I'm enjoying your no frills down to earth videos as a recent subscriber, thanks. However I find it hard to believe that all doctors appear to ignore blood type when it comes to diet, health and lifestyle. Do they think it is simply a pointless random mutation? I understand that it determines the specifics of a persons immune system, digestion and intolerances. Rather than a random DNA glitch, it is instead a result of the earliest populations adaption to the available food and their activities used to obtain it. Apart from breathing air, it seems that the main purpose for the millions of species on this planet is to consume a particular food, resulting in a perpetually balanced food chain and an infinitely complex and profound Web of Life. The overall purpose of this endless cycle of life and death it appears, is to prevent consciousness from getting bored. If you're Type A you thrive on grain.
