Why do YOU think Pokemon is Booming? Let me know in the comments 👇

I’m pretty sure the Pokémon pocket game has correlation to the new boom in Pokémon hype like Pokémon go

Absolutely

I agree with you. It's a combination of factors all coming together now. I've been frustrated with how hard it's been to find 151, but I'm realizing that set really is just ridiculously popular because of people like me (nostalgia from the 90s/00s, coming back in recent years). I will say this boom has helped me figure out what I REALLY want as opposed to trying to buy every cool thing.

I think one small oversight is causing you to overthink it a little. Greninja is a very very popular Pokémon (at least, overseas). I even remember seeing it be the #1 most popular Pokémon in an official Japanese poll. So although I think you're right about the gradual nature of it, I think you're just off a little: SV151 gave a huge boost, a very popular Pokémon (Greninja) got a chase, and now with the addition of TCG Pocket which also gave a huge boost to card sales, the big boi of the franchise itself Pikachu got a very rainbow-y chase card! Also I want to emphasize how huge of a boost TCG Pocket has actually given them. I myself got back into Pokémon after a decade because of the app, and I can't tell you how mamy normies come into the store I work at talking about ripping virtual Pokémon packs on their phones. Also apparently it's making Pokémon a ton of money. I saw a figure saying, like, $1.6 million a day i think??? Crazy.

Ordered a pokemon center ETB the day after downloading TCG lmao, and in a chain reaction i now have over 200 pokemon and 200 magic the gathering cards. All sparked by TCG pocket lmao. It was right when i was about to spend a buck on the TCG pocket i realized wait i can actually have physical cards for money lol

I started collecting again because of 151.. I grew up with Pokémon and stopped with gen 2 so all the hundreds of Pokémon coming after and all the new ways of evolving just became overwhelming to catch up with. 151 is perfect for me, maybe I’ll stop after this set and maybe I’ll just keep on collecting other gen 1 and 2 Pokémon.

I'm surprised to hear that apparently people don't like the tera crowns? I think any of the cards with tera crowns are absolutely gorgoeus. they're all so shiny and everyone is made of crystal and and are wearing shiny crystal crowns, I think they look sick.
@LegendofLuke28 күн бұрын
I didn’t like them when they first announced, but they’ve grown on me because I played the game.
@Arcamea6 күн бұрын
Some of them are nice but most of them in my opinion are just WAY too busy with all the shiny crystals and what not obscuring the actual Pokémon.

Hi, Pokemon hater turned Pokemon enthusiast in late 2024 here. It was TCG Card Shop Simulator on Steam and collecting Tetramon card, followed within the next two months by the release of Pokemon Pocket where I could collect "the real thing" while still in the safety net of no expense, followed by wanting to get my hands on some real ones for the novelty of it (especially hearing about a new pack set calling Surging Sparks). Had TCG Sim and Pocket not released in close proximity to eachother, I don't know if the hype would've lasted or been long enough to hook new fans long term to buy the packs. I do think the Pocket/Surging Sparks proximity was enough to drive an increase in sales, just likely not this drastic of an increase.

I have a 90s Charzard from when i was a kid. How much is this thing worth?
@Top_Loaded_JRGS77Ай бұрын
As popular as 151 is it wasn't the catalyst to get everyone into Scarlet & Violet. Paldean Fates and Temporal Forces came out during the Tax season/Alt Art boom so I think the Bubble Mew and Shiny Zard didnt get to see their potential and paradox Pokémon had yet to really catch on. Twilight Masquerade was announced and it wasn't well received but as soon as Greninja proved to be very hard to pull, it bucked the trend of falling after release and just kept climbing. This card single handedly showed collectors that the Scarlet & Violet era is actually amazing and should no longer be slept on and now Surging Sparks verified what Twilight was showing us. Bubble Mew would not be $300 if this card didn't come out.

Demand seems to have been high for a long time, the attention was just stuck in SWSH and once most sets moved up in price people finally turned to SV. Combine that with 151 bringing in a lot of new people who grew up in the early days and the release of pokemon packet it’s been the perfect storm for demand to boom as the Pikachu set releases

so the timeline is : Pokemon GO >Lets go Pikachu, Lets go Eevee release> PAndemic> TCG 151 release> Pokemon TCG Pocket app release> now. All signs point to adult nostalgia re-entry, and the last thing that makes it even easier is ...this doesn't happen in a vacuum, it happens during a time when hollywood and other entertainment options have been flopping constantly. I mean Scarlet and Violet was actually a very BAD pokemon game, the worst rated in the franchise, and still we see pokemania growing. I think is the company get theri shit together, and make sure the next mainline series game the release is an absolute banger, than all they got to do is apply that effort to good quality update/re-releases of the first 7 generation games. Personaly ide prefer if they went back to pixel art for the future of the game, but if they do a good job with it i dont care what they do. Also im not sure how they would get away with it, but if they released an Pokemon IP that was markted towards adults, could be big? idk just saying, if they make the Deadpool version of pokemon, perhaps out of a team rocket anti-hero storyline, could shake things up (lol never gonna happen )

Investment / crypto market 100% follows the collectible market. That is the #1 reason for this current boom.
@CostcoFriesАй бұрын
Hey Luke, don’t want to be rude but it’s nothing to do with twilight masquerade or any set. It’s just the stock/crypto market. Both are booming and when that happens, Pokemon follows. When it crashes so does Pokemon.
@davidanonymous4234Ай бұрын
Most of scarlet and violet suck, people bring light to junk cards because of SV has been releasing bunk set after bunk set. But when somthing nicer hits the market they will forget about this Pikachu sir
