Why are Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Sonic Superstars so similar?

Overall, I'm more excited for Superstars, but I think Super Mario Bros Wonder will be a more significant step for Mario. A 2D Mario game breaking out of the NSMB mold is something pretty big for the series while Sonic has tried bringing back the classic formula multiple times (Sonic 4, Generations, Mania, Forces).

I think Nintendo is changing the design of Mario a little bit, because look at Mario from wonder, and then look at him from Odyssey, his design looks a bit different.

It's like saying it's weird how sonic superstars has 4 player. It's like you don't know about game development. Seeing how similar the release date is how can you think wonder copied superstars? Both games have been in development before they were announced so i'd doubt that they copied one another.

@@Windisjisjnwj Sonic, especially 2D Sonic games that use the "Classic" design, are by default since a long time. It's engraved into SEGA's identity; being the fallen console producer and all that. It's not a bad thing but they have yet to even catch up with representing the original classic cast, let alone transporting the modern cast into the classic era. Only four playable characters, Team Sonic and Amy is dull considering the options of the Sonic cast; especially since you can play everyone in the Mario game (I'm pretty sure Toadette will show up in another trailer).
