I got my polymer apocalyptic one the other week. The lock was a little sticky at first but after breaking it in it’s great now. For $175 can’t really go wrong for a USA made Microtech in m390. Really digging mines

Had an issue with my early MSI. Sent it in and they reworked it and now lockup is perfect like my Stitch. Best upgrade was to add Skiff bearings and OG scales.

I like how lightweight the polymer version are, however it would be nice if Microtech would soften the inside edge of the scales so it won't feel like digging into the hand with the sharp edge of the scale.

I had the same complaint. A little 400 grit sand paper knocked that edge right down and you can’t even tell. Spring for some Ripps Garage Tech micarta scales if you really want a massive upgrade

The difference between G10 and the polymer (aside from the obvious glass reinforcing) will just be rigidity and how they deform. The plain polymer will be softer and more likely to deform or scratch, the G10 will be harder and more likely to chip. The polymer itself will likely be the same nylon used in G10, just injection molded instead of machined from a block. Realistically, they'll have the same pros and cons levels and it just comes down to hand feel preference. And if you intend on doing scale swaps to aftermarket ones, obviously you'd pick the cheaper polymer one as your base as all the internals across the board are the same no matter which one you initially buy.

My guess is they work off these original CAD drawings, an missed the variance, and don't change a certain feature on it and it's just saved on the file and part of the SOP with different sub versions of models. I noticed this on The Kizer Sheepdogs I have, four different kinds, two of them don't have jimping. Like why? But doesn't seem to be a QC issue as the pictures on listings don't show them on those specific models either. Companies are weird

Man I really thought they would’ve released a smaller version by now, I love pretty much everything about the MSI except it’s ridiculously huge (by my standards that is)

Some of mine don't have any lump on the lock face... There's many differences in lock face also stop pins and how far the plunge lines are. I also agree the polymer ones are my favorite!!!

A friend let me borrow his g10 version for the review and scale swap video(clip side t20 DEFINITELY has false pivot screw btw😅). I later bought a polymer bc it was the cheapest with intent to scale swap to OG GOAT scales. I noticed some subtle differences between the two but possessed them at different times, so its cool to see a video with them next to each other for folks that aren't knife modding nut jobs such as myself 😅

Are the Newer one's able to handle spine whacks? Interesting Video. I absolutely luv my MSI Folders; they are a blast to carry use and fidget with. But, Cutting Board Reviews made them look like they can not withstand spine whacking at all. Though, mine don't fail, I do have that question mark in my mind... And that keeps me from recommending them for Self-Defense Folders. If Microtech proves that they have solved that issue, I would be all into these again. Great Video, Bro! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
