Man, I bought my first XJ a 95 in 06 late in my Sophomore year in high-school from the guy at Napa for $ 1700. It had like 170k miles but the owner babied it and was kept in garage its whole life. It was clean! It was by far my favorite car I ever owned. I worked my butt off working almost 6 days a week at McDonald's for $5.15 an hr to pay for it the whole school year and summer. Owner was such a nice guy he held it for me until I could pay him the 700 I owed him. Taught me hard work and self discipline pays off. Loved that Jeep so much after it was totaled i bought 4 more. 3 of them being $1700 or under. I also found a 88 Foxbody GT Convertible for $1500 after I graduated. It ran but needed a ton of body work. That would be my second favorite. Nothing beats the sound of a V8 growling on a warm summer night. Id never find either of those today for under 4k (probably more like 6k for the foxbody) Its going to become extremely rare to find one stock. The Ford F series trucks from the early 90s will be another that will be difficult to find without rust issues. The SN95 94-95 Mustang 5.0 would be another.

F body’s C5’s and GMT800’s. Basically all the decent 90’s/00’s GM stuff is going up. Before 2020 they were all in the 1k-5k range and now they’ve gone from 5k-10k

I found an 86 Olds 442 back in 1996 for $4300. The previous owner actually put a 1970 Olds 350, .030" over forged flat tops , a set of hooker ceramic coated headers (still in the box) 200R4 slush box trans but the car had the same 8.5" GN 10 bolt with a 3.73. Very clean condition. Just needed the earlier #5 or 6 64 cc chamber heads/ holley 650, a turbo 350 trans/ 10" TCI and a right side upper A arm. Other than , it was a solid car only 10 years old. Nice paint, clean interior, electric sunroof. All G bodies now seem like they're taking off in price.

A vehicle i would add are 80-95 Ford Broncos. I remember seeing early 80s models when I graduated high school in 1997 for around $500 to $1,200. Now, Broncos in decent condition are going for upwards of $12,000.

haha, maybe my '79 base model mustang is now worth more than crusher scrap... It was pretty rough when I parked it in '99 and its not gotten any better. At that time, that 2.3L 4 cyl was sort of popular with dirt track racing in the area. Should have sold the car for parts then.
