Cost of game development has skyrocketed. Higher ups are afraid to take risks and innovate, most studios when they innovate and release a decent game end up getting closed down by a parent company like the tango game works situation.

This is why I often prefer indie titles. There are so many passionate developers who respect their players and want to build a good and unique experience, and their monetization is fair, sometimes going out on their way to refuse any IAPs altogether or doing so only for cosmetic DLCs in a sea of existing cosmetic content. Triple A titles only have one thing going on their way: popularity. But I don't care how many people play a game so long as there's enough to play the game as intended, and it does not make sense to me to buy 70+€ of a game that I have to force myself to enjoy.

Its the CEO s not the devs themselves, stop blaming them for just doing their job. The directors and especially the Heads of these companies should take all off the blame and hate. They are the ones who make the decisions not the Developers themselves

There is a lot of influence from a lot of different sources from a Game Development StandPoint. Some Development Companies allow more contribution from their Devs than others. Like Activision, a publishing company, Makes their development companies put out shitty games. Other Companies will Develop a game and have developers collaborate on a title and still, the game will be shitty. Its all about what companies truly care about the games they make and sell.
