The BRICS coalition encompasses five major economies, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, that media outlets often sensationalize. Their potential global impact deserves in-depth analysis to reveal its inner workings, debunk myths, and explore why its member countries might not be as aligned as they initially appear.
From the origins of BRICS to the challenges of consensus building, we unravel the complexities of this economic alliance and examine its true impact on the global economy.

Before, these were just random countries that hated the West. Now, they have their own organization. Some countries feel represented as BRICS members, the way they've not done before. It's interesting to learn more about the discussions and proposals around BRICS nations and their potential use of gold. There are several reasons why people may choose to buy gold, including its historical use as a store of value and means of exchange, its potential as a hedge against inflation or currency devaluation, and its relative scarcity compared to other commodities. Additionally, gold can offer diversification benefits to investment portfolios, as it tends to have a low correlation with other asset classes like stocks and bonds. However, it's important to note that investing in gold carries risks and may not be suitable for everyone. and investors should carefully consider their investment objectives, risk tolerance, and financial situation before making any decisions
@CraigLloyd-fz6ns

However, it is unclear how a new currency backed by gold would function in the current global financial system and whether it would gain widespread acceptance. Ultimately, any decision to create a new currency would be subject to numerous economic, political, and logistical considerations.

BRICS doesn't have to be militarily united or even agree on a common currency to end the Dollar hegemony. BRICS is a platform which enhances bilateral trade among Global South countries. It helps a country to get familiar with each other's economy/currency and thereby increase the bilateral trade between the bloc. BRICS in a way increases your trading options, makes your economy more diversified and hence less vulnerable to unilateral sanctions. In this way BRICS gives even a small country a confidence to act independently on a geopolitical front

G7 started in 1973.. BRICS is a baby by comparison. They are not rushing. BRICS is more like a futuristic organization and the groundwork is being done now. It will be much more effective 10-15 years from now as we are moving towards a multipolar world. And a new world order takes time to build or settle. De dollarization itself would take several years. I think a framework is being build where all BRICS countries can keep their differences aside to work together. A new world order is always preceded by uncertainty and chaos ( like we have it now with so many wars breaking out ). I believe 8-10 years from now the picture will be somewhat more clear where the world is headed.

So in your opinion that the G7 do get the things done. So when Biden came into power in 2020 he was saying there will be 600 billion on the table to counter the Chinese one belt and one road and 4 years down, how much of that 600 billion was now made available for infrastructure building, what major projects are there to complete after 4 years? Anything getting done by the G7. That is G7 as a whole, but let's look at some of the individual cases Vietnam's High Speed Railway system was originally financed by Japan around 2015 with a finishing date around 2028 at 55 billion, ok, almost 9 years down the track only about 5 KM of the 1500km was ever built and the expected finishing time pushing beyond 2045, that is 17 years from the original plan, is that what you call getting things done? Also when we talk about the external debt for third world nations, in Africa there is almost 1 trillion dollars of debts and out of that almost 90% were owed to the western nations led by the G7, how much of those debt were forgiven by the western nations?

BRICS is a Toothless Tiger even we in India don't take it seriously, I don't know why Westerner's over hype it so much and It will remain so until India-China Border dispute is not solved which is that China gives back Aksai Chin and Tibet is declared Independent again as historically it acted as a buffer state between the two powers.

Exactly. The combined economic power of the original 5 countries is roughly equivalent to the US alone as measured by GDP and only China could be the bank of an alternative to the traditional global financial system... Until the past 3 years. Because China has fallen on tough economic times that is getting worse all the time BRICS had to look elsewhere for funding which is probably the reason for the invitations to Saudi Arabia and the UAE to join the expanded BRICS. But, I don't see any new members willing to risk their national wealth for others. They probably joined BRICS like others to explore possible trade relationships and are willing to accommodate others in certain ways like using a domestic currency to settle trades... but only to a point. No one wants to be left holding an excess pile of some currency that can't be spent. BRICS is a collection of misfits... Many if not nearly all are excluded from the global financial system typically because they have either violated international law or declared their intentions to violate international law. It's unlawful to invade another country to annex their territory like Russia's invasion of Ukraine and China threatens to do the same to reunify Taiwan. Many developing countries aren't sophisticated financially so remain "developing" and never progress to "developed" are looking for handouts China is willing to provide through BRI but often with a catch (or many). China hopes to make BRICS a tool and extension of its BRI policies and many developing nations are willing to join in hopes of obtaining needed cash. But if Developing nations are truly interested in growth and independence, they would instead turn to the G-20 which is created to assist Developing nations in cooperation with developed nations.

Wrong analysis. Demise of USD is bound to happen. And look at how strategically BRICS has recruited nations, you have countries like India and China who are the largest consumer market in the world, in which India currently the fastest growing economy in the world and soon to be global factory as well alongside China. On the other hand you have countries like Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and UAE who are among the largest producers of Oil and gas in the world. And guess what they are gonna trade in their own common currency i.e. BRICS currency which may have a huge update in the upcoming summit in Russia this year. Once the currency introduces, then the usage of USD will drastically fall BRICS group deserves way more attention then it is getting from the mainstream media by downplaying as "Russia - China" wing, which is totally incorrect

As an Indian, I can tell you that i have no hope in brics. Sure, it started with good intentions, but there's no way you can get it to work for something together. The two largest brics nations are at the verge of war with each other. The supposedly strongest brics military is stuck in ukraine. South africa doesn't exactly have a lot of global influence That leaves you with brazil alone to glue up the "alliance" and somehow get it working, but it doesn't seem too interested in that sh1t at this point. The best i feel we can do together is probably a few trade agreements. But other than that, every country is on their own
