What part of "they only get a fixed ammount" do you not get. You say old but at the rate that balls fall off bounds the entire stock would be depleted in a year or so. And honestly they don't owe the fans anything. Their ticket doesn't cover the cost of basketballs and just because it works at other sports and they feel entitled to that ball doesn't make it rightfully theirs. At best maybe give the person that caught it a coupon for like 10-40% off at the memorabilia shop I presume is in the stadium or a hat or plush but definitely not a game ball.
