On the other hand Ben getting knocked tf is the most high profile KO or at least one of in the UFC and shot Jorge into stardom making him a star and getting 4-5 high profile fights against Nate, Colby and Usman. TBF the mighty mouse trade was actually a great trade for Dana. Talent wise it was terrible but oney wise it was an amazing trade. If Mighty Mouse had stayed, he still wouldn't have gotten those big numbers its proven from how long he's been in the UFC. But because they brought Askren over, Jorge was able to land that knee which rocketed him to stardom (albeit short) and generated a couple of big PPV numbers that Mighty Mouse couldn't even match up to with every PPV card he's headlined combined. So to conclude, skill wise yes it was one of the worst trades ever but skills don't pay the bills, money does, and money wise, making Jorge a star made Dana more money than DJ ever could so therefore trading DJ for Ben Askren was an amazing trade.

I'm not super familiar with the UFC or mma for that matter but here are my 2cents from my observation as a casual lol 1) Dana wants the UFC to be a monopoly when it comes to mma and he has been successful in that, in the western hemisphere at the very least. 2) Lack of competition allows him to do whatever he wants even if it is unethical just because he feels like it, since he knows that people will still watch. 3) Dana cares about narrative control since it is a story hook that gets people well.. hooked and watching ufc consistently. 4) His target audience is people who can be persuaded into gambling, drinking and other reckless behavior since that creates more sensationalism and hype and a bandwagon effect of otherwise more rational people. But most importantly it makes his recurring sponsors the most money and in turn him. 5) relating to #4 his fighters have to reflect the behavior he wants his audience to engage in, meaning it is better that more problematic/reckless fighters are the center of attention since he knows that will draw a similar audience which means more money for him from his target audience. 6) again relating to #4&5 it is not a great financial decision for him to promote unproblematic fighters especially fighters who are practicing muslims. Given that muslim fighters while drawing eyeballs do not draw eye balls with a lot of purchasing power relatively speaking. The majority population is also religious and therefore not willing to spend money on gambling, alcohol, ppv, or tickets. The only reason it works in the UAE is because of that sweet oil money and the fact that the (oil money)audience is only religious by name and not in practice therefore willing and able to spend in the way he desires. that being said as flimsy as this is gonna sound..I can only see dana correcting his behavior if a large part of his audience start watching and supporting the competition promotions, and citing his unethical behavior as their reason for not watching UFC. If it is a large part of the audience his sponsors will want to hold him accountable financially at least. Dana obeys money... meaning he will do the ethical thing as a means to make money.

@@Kgopani3101 Look at Ngannou's knockouts vs Pereira's. Most of the time Pereira knocks people down and finishes them with follow up punches. When Ngannou knocks people out, he only needs one punch and its over. Ngannou hits harder than Pereira. Its Heavyweight power vs Light-Heavyweight power and its still night and day.
@Kgopani3101Ай бұрын
Again as I said Pereira knocks people down with very short hooks, he's just swatting his hand like he's smacking a fly and the other dude has his eyes rolling back, Ngannou needs this huge uppercuts and overhands to ko his opponents, plus acting there isn't just a 10-20 lbs difference between LH and HW's is crazy
@madgavin7568Ай бұрын
@@Kgopani3101 You're essentially pointing out the difference in how they throw punches. But that doesn't necessarily make Poatan a harder hitter than Ngannou. I've already pointed out Pereira drops and finishes opponents with GnP while Ngannou only needs one punch to land and its over. That alone should settle the debate as to who hits harder. Need I point out how Ngannou slept Stipe Miocic in their rematch with a check hook? Stipe dropped to the floor like Cro Cop before him after Ngannou check hooked him. There is if anything, a 30-40 pound difference between Pereira and Ngannou and Ngannou looks like a super athlete. Ngannou hits harder than Pereira, there is no debate to be had here.
@Kgopani3101Ай бұрын
@@madgavin7568 Stipe had already been already been wobbled with a 1-2 before the check hook and this is a stipe who's very small because of the DC trilogy where they tried to show up as the lighter guy. Plus if you go back and watch Alex pereira amateur boxing matches, he's putting out people cold, do you know how hard you gotta hit to have an opponent with headgear, 14 oz gloves sleeping like that? Then his Glory career, watch the jacoby fight just moves his arm around and jacoby literally dies. If pereira swung like ngannou back from kingdom come he'd take a guy's head off his shoulder but he doesn't because he's easily susceptible to counters that way and because his chin isn't as good as ngannou's it's just common sense idk what you don't understand in that

Dana did Mighty Mouse SO dirty. He glazes Jon for his legacy but Mighty Mouse’s is equally as great, and up for the discussion that it’s better. Dana seems to just not like people who don’t bend the knee for him. Truly he’s an overgrown child.

it annoys me that the popularity of ufc in the west lies entirely in danas hands despite the fact he keeps promoting slap contests when nobody cares instead of creating a big muay thai league and tries to make people forget about anybody who he didnt like no matter how great they were.
@brandonamezquita45012 ай бұрын
My guess is that he doesn't want something that competes with MMA. He has a grappling league and even lets his fighters do grappling events, but no striking ones.

Dana white, although great in what he has done, is an absolute prick in the way fighters are treated, lack of proper pay, lack of medical and overall a lack of respect for those actually putting their lives on the line, I hope one day he leaves and the ufc hopefully becomes better for it

I was extremely happy for Francis Ngannou when the Fury fight was announced. Just to remind everyone that Ngannou was not doing that just for himself but for all the UFC fighters who were putting their lives on the line for 12k when they step in the cage. Also the long term effects like CTE. Dana White thought that his release from UFC would end up as a disaster but it backfired on Dana. Must have been a dreadful news for Dana to hear how much money he started making as soon as he exited the UFC.
