Ducks fan here, can't imagine how gutting this must be for you guys but Drysdale will endear himself to Philly immediately. Elite skating/transitional D that can defend the rush well and has tight gaps. His outlet passes are sharp and precise, I think he lacks a tiny bit of creativity in the O zone but he has the lateral agility to improve his distribution skills and overall deception. A great kid as well and amazing attitude, he's been through it with these injuries the past couple seasons so I hope he thrives as a Flyer.

As a Ducks fan I think both teams made out really well with this deal. Centers and D are positions of strength for Anaheim, so we dealt from our plethora of blue liners to land a winger, a position of weakness organizationally. Philly wanted and needed a RHD so I think this move could be the perfect fresh start for Drysdale where he doesn't have to worry about Zellweger, Mintyukov or Luneau coming for his spot. Jamie also helps the Flyers both now and in the future. Wishing him the best and can't wait for Cutter!

idk, cutter's attitude towards negotiation and communication doesn't bode very well for ANY team that has him. him saying he "doesn't want to play for philadelphia" as an excuse for stonewalling the gm of the org could just as easily be him saying he "doesn't want to play with zegras" or something. it's a stupid complaint, poorly communicated. at least lindros had the balls to say to management in quebec that he would never play there, and never would change his mind. this kid lied at the draft, stonewalled afterwards, and put a team into a hard spot that could've been avoided or at least been more mutually beneficial several months ago. i don't like anaheim, but i wouldn't be excited for any org to be dealing with a 19 y/o prima donna

This time last year, Gauthier only wanted to do 1 year at Boston College & come directly to the Flyers. Briere thought otherwise, that a second year in college & an international tournament would be in Gauthier's best development. So no contract was offered. Gauthier got a case of sour grapes against the Flyers' organization. From what I saw in the World Tournament, Briere might have been right. But the kid already burnt that bridge by demanding his way out of Philly.

That said, there could be an underlying issue we're not privy to that came up at some point that didn't sit well with Gauthier, and he simply said "F that team, I'm not playing for them". What would make a player do a 180 like that without cause? Did he finally see Gritty and say "Naw man, I just can't do it"? To just change his mind so long afterwards and the Flyers actions had nothing to do with him changing it seems shady. All about money cause let's remember, at the draft Gauthier walked on stage and said, "I was born to be a Flyer" right before he put the jersey on. The Flyers wanted him to go back to Boston for another year this upcoming season. However, after his performance at Boston this past season and then his performance at the World Juniors, Gauthier and his agent, wanted an NHL entry level contract from the Flyers, plain and simple! Just look at what happened...It was mentioned here in the repoet that it sounded like Gauthier and his agent were gonna 'clear the air' on what happened with the Flyers in a few days. Did that ever happen? Nope! Then three months later what happened? Shocker! The Ducks signed Gauthier to his NHL entry level deal! They never 'cleared the air' about the trade because they knew it wasn't going to make them either of them look good, cause was nothing more than him and his agent wanting what ends up being an insignificant amount of money now, over another year of college experience. It's one thing to come out and say both sides had a difference of opinion and that Gauthier and his agent felt he was ready to turn pro now. Okay, fine! Shit happens! Except then they realized how absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional it would make them both look that they literally refused to even take phone calls from the Flyers brass, who kept desperately calling to just try to talk and actually setup a meeting to discuss, FOR MONTHS! They ignored the Flyers brass, two well respected ex-NHL players, for months! Acted like two little children all for 5.7 mill over the next 3 years starting now instead of next year. Glad we discovered now that Gauthier, like his agent, has no guts. Quitter Gauthier! 😂

Kevin Hayes, albeit a slower developing NCAA player, didn’t want to sign with the Blackhawks after Stan Bowman told him to go back to university for his senior year, Bowman trades his brother Jimmy to the Panthers that year, and Kevin tells the Blackhawks to fuck off and runs out the clock to sign with the Rangers. Underrated Bowman fuck-up that may have cost the Blackhawks a Cup in 2014, 2016, and/or 2017.
