If you still have the head at the machine shop I would recommend to pressure test it but when hot. I hade mine done cold and it was perfect but when it got up to operating temperature one of the valve seats starts dropping and causing misfire. Those heads are junk when overheated and if you have any issues when hot the best thing to do is to put a new/refurbished head which wasn’t overheated. There is a guy in Cannock who always have one or two ready to sell on a shelf.

Been on a binge of your videos the past couple of days, glad i found your channel! I recently bought a 2010 cooper s and needed to do the timing chain and watched one of your videos which really helped! Suprised you dont have more subscribers to be honest! Keep up the good work mate!

It's nice to watch this series! I am not qualified to give any advice about engines, but I think timing is definitely off! Maybe you should've lock it at top dead center...

Timing wasn’t off, the valves were bent in the head! I have taken the rest of the engine apart now which will be in the next episode.

@@BTR_REBUILD Weird! There is no sign of pistons hitting the valves... But like I said, I am not that qualified, it is great to see you tackling these kind of projects!

Burnt valve is not too bad, bores are okay for a 2009 car. Pistons look fine too.

I did a test where I poured some water into the cylinders and the pistons and bores are definitely deceiving lol
