Brazilian who live in the Amazon for 12 years here. As far as I know it is assumed that Capivaras are shill because they don't compete with any other animals for resources/food. Meaning, their place in the food chaim is one of neutrality, mostly. But the capivara chilling with a crocodile is news to me, this is definitely not common as crocodiles do feed on Capivaras. Onças too, hunt and eat capivaras. Some native tribes also cook capivaras, though that's rare.

SprayArtist the crocodile is a little different. They are not social animals and do not desire hugs as much. What they do value is structure in their lives and if they get used to a certain capybara being around their territory that makes the crocodile feel safe as their structure is guarded as long as the capybara keeps coming back. Capybara have a lot of friends because they are the only creature that has a 100% chance of Pulling up.
@niftyscrusade4291 Жыл бұрын
So, to answer the question, they create friendships with anyone no matter what because they take care of them, they act as a nanny figure to any animal it crosses, even towards predators, they will take care of them by cleaning them or attracting bugs as food, they will literally just do the nicest things for no reason, so they make friends with anyone. If you ever happen to find a wild one, that is literally a blessing because they will let you pet it no matter what, it sounds bizarre and unrealistic, but it's true.

Dunkleosteus Yeah I feel so disappointed that the video didn't answer the question in the title at all...I erase my thumbs up, because even though the capybaras are super cute, the title is misleading aka clickbait. I have a friend who lives in Brazil. Capybaras seem to be a common sight down there. People stop their cars to let them cross streets. They come and relax on her lawn frequently. She constantly posts pictures of them on her FB profile. They’re cute!

Alix Berenzy Me too! I currently have two guinea pigs; they’re very sweet little pets! I just rescued an abused one (replete with scars) that was dumped in a parking lot. He’s outgoing, social, and adores his cage mate, Mocha. Someone’s junk is someone else’s treasure! I’ll head down to South America generally once or twice per year (for work). I haven’t seen any capybaras yet but I look forward to eventually seeing one!

Each animal has their own reasons for liking the company of Capybaras and I believe a big reason they are attracted to them in the first place is because they show absolutely no aggression in behavior, facial expressions, or sounds. They are just chill animals.

It's a little known fact, but turtles will often surround their prey before they attack. If you ever find yourself being surrounded by turtles, whatever you do, DO NOT let them close the circle. Once they link up, tooth to tail, they slowly tighten the circle and will crush their prey, much like a python or anaconda. I've only seen it once and I never want to see it again.
