SprayArtist the crocodile is a little different. They are not social animals and do not desire hugs as much. What they do value is structure in their lives and if they get used to a certain capybara being around their territory that makes the crocodile feel safe as their structure is guarded as long as the capybara keeps coming back. Brazilian who live in the Amazon for 12 years here. As far as I know it is assumed that Capivaras are shill because they don't compete with any other animals for resources/food. Meaning, their place in the food chaim is one of neutrality, mostly. But the capivara chilling with a crocodile is news to me, this is definitely not common as crocodiles do feed on Capivaras.
