I will help you. I suggest that you come to understand the "fear of the Lord." It is the beginning of knowledge, as stated in Proverbs. This is because if you have been converted in the biblical way, (Acts 2:38) you then must live in compliance to the New Covenant, of which is to uphold the Law of God. (Love God & love others as yourself.) That said, having the fear of the Lord is to fear what he has the power to do on judgment day. Romans 2:5-11 states that every one will be judged by their deeds. This judgment will bring what is deserved, based upon one's deeds in this life. If you have the fear of the Lord, you will have to choose to obey or not. If you choose to obey, that is evidence that you believe. If you choose not to obey, that is evidence that you do not truly believe.

I struggle with sin daily. But I seen this somewhereand saved it for myself. "Why do we still sin then?" We sin because we still focus on our conduct rather than our beliefs. It is the beautiful scandal of the gospel that the only way to be free from sin is to stop trying to be free from sin! Paul himself said that "the strength of sin is the law" (I Corinthians 15:56). blessed by your words praise Jesus. I have been saved since the age of 7 and I am 54 now. I have learned that we have the power to say no to sin through Christ Jesus. When I practiced sin in my 20s I did it because I wanted to and I did not seek First the Kingdom of God and I stopped reading my bible daily I would still read it but maybe 3 or 4 times a week, not every day as I did before. God showed me that only He can open eyes and with His Holy Spirit can keep us living right making the right choices. He allowed me to go through the pain of not seeking Him every day even though it was only 3 months when I was 27 it was my worst 3 months ever. When we sin we choose to sin but we really do not have to sin because Jesus gave us the power to say no when we really want to say no it is possible. Until God allows the devil to bring distress in our lives that is when we decide we had enough and do not want to go through the pain of our sin. If God allowed everyone to get away with their sin without receiving the punishment people would continue to sin and it would be worse in this world. God wants us to live in peace and He will make sure to keep all of us in line so we do not give those around us grief. Like many people want to get married but they live like the devil while saying they're Christians and God sees them and know their thoughts. God keeps these people single until He changes them so it will keep these people from ruining someone else's life with the sinful ways they do not want to give up. When we decide to stop practicing sin our bodies start to ache because we are getting delivered from the addiction some people cannot take the pain so they keep the sin. I say go through the pain which is horrible but once God sets you free you never go back because of not wanting to go through that pain ever again. God gives us the horrible pain so we do not do that sin again to avoid the pain because sin does hurt. John 5:14Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. I have come into such a gratitude for Jesus's sacrifice on the cross and over flowing generosity and grace that even the thoughts of the sins I used to dwell in now repulse me. You are in a battle for your soul (we all are) and it has to be won in your mind. Ask God to help you stay focused on right thoughts. But don't get distracted. You need to keep your mind on living in a way that pleases God in every way, from your thoughts to your actions. If you realize that you are trapped and need to be delivered, knowing what you need to do goes together with prayers for your deliverance, because you must follow God's instructions to you in your situation. You must be willing to see what it feels like to say "No" to a desire of your flesh when you are being tempted, and see how the temptation goes away (James 1:12-15). God's grace will help you to do that (Titus 2:11-14) and He will be with you in all those moments if your focus is on loving and pleasing Him above all and you trust that He will deliver you. I repented last month & have since then rebuilt my marriage, read Bible, Pray alot, & burned all my DVDs, music, or any other sinful items but for the life of me I can't stop smoking or taking my prescription to sleep or feel good. Take off two weeks in the month and use it to seek the Lord with prayer and fasting and you will see His holy spirit comes to you then you will know the truth because while you are failing to conquer the sin is because your not implying work in your faith every day,( 1 Peter 5:8-9)( you are not putting down the sinful nature that raise to control your mind every day by having shot fasting everyday(2 Peter 3:17) as you know almost all the people are living after their sinfulnature flesh, but we suppose to be putting it down everyday and Jesus promised us that if we die on the cause of denying ourself everyday then we shall see Him in His kingdom, those who are living after the flesh can not make it over there galatians 5:19-21. If you love your life in this world you will lose it, but if you comes to the discipline of Holy spirit and denying your heart of its evil through fasting and prayer often with faith, then you will be working in the spirit and entering heaven will be so sure to you.

Intimacy with Jesus is the most pleasurable but it grows little by little. There is “self” control and “Self”discipline which are given by the Spirit of God. To say this will fail and make one 7 times self righteous is not 100% true...though it can be true. We can’t depend on the sensual to lead us though my favorite way to live is in the pleasures of the beauty of the Lord.

Keira In Rom 7:19-20, Paul himself admits to not being able to fulfill the Law, i.e. '...the evil that I do not want to do, this I do'. We all (Paul included when he was alive) have a sinful nature, and even as believers will SIN in the flesh. Not wanting to sin, but sinning anyway are called besetting sins. Everyone -including believers have them. So STOP beating yourself up! But, He has called us to walk in Spirit and in Truth. Per 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, He is Faithful and JUST and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. I don't think any believer sins out of shear frivolousness, that said .... Sin is sin.... it really boils down to who will pay the penalty for the sin debt. So basically I've been putting my energy into the wrong thing this whole time!! Which is funny because just this week I came to realize that just about every thought we CHOOSE to follow in our head is a deliberate and concentrated action, like imagining something evil play out (and also doing that thing). But forcing yourself to think of something else is also deliberate and possible, so with this I began to think this was the way to beat sin: recognizing that committing sins are deliberate choices. I experimented with shutting off my thoughts and switching around activities. While I think I'm doing a great job and everything, I know deep down it still isn't going well. But after watching this video I know John is right. All this laboring (which still fails) brings glory to me, which is evil because it has nothing to do with Jesus who is the ONLY way to salvation. I've been setting myself up for boasting and that's not cool. But at least I can put my realization to work the right way now. Someone here said to put deliberate energy into seeking out Jesusn and loving him. And John Piper clicked that together for me saying that the relationship with him organically results in sin reduction, which gives Jesus glory. I'm glad I can "do" something because I've struggled a lot with "just sit around and believe!" which they taught me at church. I still have waaaaay more to learn and I'm so glad I'm even here at all. To me it means I'm being worked on... (Sorry for the long post!)

So, the ball is in your court. You can't wait on God for deliverance from sin while God is waiting on you to agree on what his call to repentance is. But repentance is seldom preached like the Bible teaches it, so people go to many ways of explaining why they remain trapped in sin and believe Jesus offered his life for them to struggle with sin and not overcome it rather. Whether you say you are destroying your sin or turning a way from it, you can succeed only if you hate sin like God hates sin. And of course, what Jesus only can do is giving you a clean slate, forgiving/erasing your past sins up the the point when you are turning to God (coming to Jesus). Jesus says this to anyone who has an encounter with Him and is ready to live for God: "I do not condemn you, now go and don't sin anymore" (John 8:11). I invite you to look into that. Most of the messages you will find will tell you that you can't do right and that maybe you can't even want to do right. But nobody will show you that in the Bible. Sin leads to death (James 1:13-15, Romans 6:23), so being saved from that means being free from the enslavement of sin (Matthew 1:21, Acts 3:26, John 8:34-36, Romans 6:14). The key is repentance and you definitely can do that. Jesus made the way for you to do your part.

I’ve been struggling with this as well. There is no specific prayer that you can do, prayer is a conversation between you and God you just gotta lay it down. I’ve recently come to terms with the fact that you have to stop making excuses and lying to yourself about your sin. I’m at this point and I’ve literally cried over this admission of my fault part because I just don’t want to accept it. I’ll have to see where this takes me. Desiring God is no easy thing when we live in a world filled with nothing but desire. Hope your doing well after these months.

Have you received the message of God who is calling all people to repent? That is the way to be forgiven for sins we have committed up to that point of turning to God and turning the page from the way we had lived until then. That opens the door to receiving God's healing and the gift of *a new life* that we will live for God and no longer for sin/addictions and the passing things of the world (Romans 6:4, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 6:15).
