I was always demonology, same reasons, also liked being the kind of underrated spec that no one plays and it means you can surprise people. Thinking of rejoining classic now

I played affliction in tbc, the dot maintenance is actually fun. Played demon only in wrath, because the aoe it did was way better than any other class, except you had to be careful or insta die from aggro.

This is why I opted to play affliction for the guild. I actually get to press more buttons! I went destro for a week and got so bored 😐

To make this simple.... shadow and flame out scales demonic knowledge from BT/HJ and beyond because it's based on your gear... not the pets stamina and int which for practical purposes is a static amount. That's why destro will outperform demo. Demo seeding/doom is the upside of playing a demo lock but you are never going to outperform a destro lock (shadow or fire) on ST fights. FYI... demonic knowledge doesn't scale 1:1 as you see on you pet's SP. It's a percentage based increase and you can only see the actual 4 percent gain on your player SP. Yes.. it would have been great if the original designers had taken this into account and you weren't locked into one spec but we told them back then the same thing I've posted here and they ignored the feedback. The other issues with keeping the pet alive (avoidance/resistance/stamina/armor) were seemingly ignored also. Sims are always a bit misleading when it comes to practical game play. That's why SL/SL became a thing because the aff build was t total trash in organized pvp. SL/SL was not designed... it was figured out by the players. If you look at all the trees... the end talents in all three specs become worthless for pvp AND pve because they are basically niche talents. Amazing.. huh?

You made a freaking long comment to basically mention something that he said at the beginning of the video. He literally said that Demonology will never beat Destruction.

I tried playing deep demo with felguard, so without ruin. The felguard does decent damage, but I keep having the health funnel all the time, because otherwise it will just die. As for pvp viability, it's okay I guess, but not as good as affliction is. In pvp every gcd counts and not having instant (and buffed) corruption, agony, siphon life and losing the utility of a felhunter/succubus is just generally a really rough time, soul link and felguard dmg does not make up for it. So I respecced into UA/SB (also put 4/5 in DE), I read some guides that said UA is as good or even better than ruin. But as in vanilla wow, sm/ruin (or a variation) is the go-to spec for pve and pvp. With this spec you have a lot of debuffs to keep track off, while you cast shadowbolts on the side and also you get to keep your imp out for that nice stamina buff for your group. Also -5% physical dmg debuff and malediction (although I went with the instant aoe fear for pvp).

I recently returned to WoW and picked up lvling my Warlock for my main in TBC (lvl60 atm, started at 56). Have been lvling Fel Guard with points into affliction, I end up drinking quite alot and funneling the FG constantly it seems. My gear was horrible and as I get upgrades it's getting better but I'm trying to figure out if I'd be better of swapping to a better lvling spec? Im not expert but i assumed the Fel Guard build would be solid due to being on PvP server. I love the FG and demonology but don't want to hold back my lvling progress bc of it, your thoughts?

Thats not how Demonic Knowledge works, thats just your Pets spell power (effects your pets spells) - not yours. Demonic Knowledge gives about 100 spell power (variable depending on stam/intellect). You can determine this by dismissing pet and resummoning and looking at how much your spell power increases by, this is the only way to know how much it increases spell power. I mostly play Demo as well, for the same reasons as you. But Demonic Knowledge, which is a pretty good talent, doesnt scale very well as gear improves. You wont be getting anywhere near 172 spell power. The Felguards avoidance talent is also unreliable compared to a Hunters which is a shame as is it can be detrimental (Hunters Pet Avoidance: Reduces the Damage of AoE by 50% / Felguard Avoidance: Increases Pets Chance to AVOID AoE by 50%) - so the Felguard has a high chance to outright avoid any AoE damage, but if he does gets hit he takes the full damage, so its RNG :(
@maplejapan60482 жыл бұрын
Can't you read the talent? It says very clearly : Increase your Spell damage by an amount equal to 12% of your pet's Stamina plus Intellect. So yes, it increases the player's damage.
@gazwilson31772 жыл бұрын
@@maplejapan6048 yes, I can read. Now can you? If you read it all what I was referring too was that the number he quotes at 3:50 of the video is NOT how much it is increasing his spell power by, thats just how much his Pets Spell Damage is increase by his own. There is no way to SEE how much Spell Power you gain from Demonic Knowledge aside from working it out by seeing how much you have without a Pet and how much it goes up by with. Its impossible to get 172 spell power from Demonic Knowledge, even with full Sunwell gear.

Is there any upside to playing demo other than two more buttons? Is there a debuff that’s useful like survival hunters?

He said that several times, resistance. You get 70 free res with the felguard pet which any other spec does not. For BT, that might bring you ahead of a destro missing shadow bolts

Thank god you use Succubus instead of the obviously pandering, Incubus. I agree that demo is more fun. It also feels more balanced.. not just being good at dps in a group setting but also in PvP and solo-questing/farming. The boost to spell power you get is also pretty nice. Being able to continually pull mobs when soloing with drain life, mana tap, health funnel, and improved healthstone. Basically using health and mana interchangeably as a resource. Very nice.

Sorry but Felguard Demo >> Succubus-Ruin Demo. I can actually keep toe to toe with our Destro locks on a lot of fights with that spec and the Felguard does more damage and is a lot easier to keep alive thus maintaining the buffs etc.
