I don't think Tracy McGrady should have. been a first-ballot hall-of-famer. He was great but not long enough. He was only really good for about five or six year period. Then the injuries to took over. Longevity should play a factor. Being a first-ballot hall-of-famer means that you one of the best of the best of your generation, set the standard, that you're one of the guys who was great for a really long time and changed the way the game was played. Tracy McGrady was a huge shooting guard, but he was basically just a modern age version of George Gervin. Played an iso-heavy style that was en-vougue at the time. Scored a lot of points, never won much and never won many awards along the way. 1 scoring title, no NBA all defensive teams, no MVP's, no deep playoff runs as the team's star, no rings as the leader of the team or its second or third best player. Why? H2O was a good player. His growth wasn't stunted.
@T.H.E.O.R.Y.3 жыл бұрын
No. If you have to ask the question, no. I honestly don't think he should be there at all given his shortcomings. It'd be different if, like JC said, he went to college and dominated, in which that body of work is definitely on the table to help make his case for a HOF bid, but he didn't.

I must admit I didn’t think he was first ballot but no one can deny he was on his way dude was talented just blew up n no one saw it coming. It was kind of James harden like one year a role player next a star but he was a an offensive weapon pull up jumper with range, dunk or layup, underrated foot work TMac had it all, but he wasn’t very good in the playoffs Orlando I can’t be too critical because he didn’t have grant or much help, but Houston he didn’t play well and also there only a few years from 00-06 of dominance and there others he retired before him who deserved it but dude was special just wasn’t first ballot but HOF yes

I feel you. T mac was my dude and at the same time, he was a little unsure of his first ballot selection. He belongs, but not first ballot although he had first ballot talent.

Your facts are totally incorrect he wasn’t a bust in Toronto. He was doing his thing the year before he left.

He was his generation's answer to George Gervin. Great scorer whose teams never went too far in the playoffs. Still, one of the players I would pay to watch because when he was in his prime, McGrady, like Gervin, could put on some show.

I enjoy watching your videos. I was wondering if you can do a stunted growth on possibly two individuals that went to the same high school but at different times (Homewood-Flossmoor high school) T.J. Cummings class of 2000 and Julian Wright class of 2005...

As a orlando native I was excited that got tmac &grant but when hill went down they never built around him, and our management as as team has never been great, Tmac said himself that in orlando he needed help those were his best years and he was able to accomplish what he did with no team,so I say he should be in the HOF👍

Tracey was not a HOF! He had HOF talent but what did he accomplish over a long period of time that makes him a HOF? MLB is the only league that sticks to the true definition and not fandom. He would never have been a HOF in MLB with this type of nothingness accomplishments. It is sad.

It doesn't matter how much talent he had, it is what he did with it. It doesn't matter how much potential he had if he didn't achieve it. Kobe's nodge is the achievement people reference and using injuries to excuse choking in the 4th. If we use the criteria he uses on Garden, he is mid

He is absolutely hall of famer because it's a basketball hall of fame and many international players with nearly no NBA accomplishments make it there (because they meant a lot to their country). T-Mac was crazy popular in his prime and one of the smoothest games ever.

TMac is one of my favorite players. That being said, he wasn’t much more than offense. You need more from your star player to go far in the playoffs. I still remember the Magic blowing a series they were dominating. I need to see who got left out, but I would still lean toward second ballot for my guy

T-Mac and Yao could never stay healthy together. As far as HOF, I don't think T-Mac is first ballot but based off the players that are in, he belongs. For instance, Bernard King was among the best players in the early to mid 80s but injuries held him back. King only made it to the 2nd round once. T-Mac and King are definitely HOF talents, but did not have the clear-cut HOF career they should've had. I would blame that on injuries and lack of team leadership.
