I'm a cyclist. I have 2 cars and pay nearly £800 road tax. So next time you pass a bike screaming get off the road when you are in a cheap piece of crap paying £20 a year road tax think what the bike rider may have as other transport

Look up road wear fourth power law on Wikipedia. Once that has blown your socks off, look at reference 3 for a good example. I’m fighting similar arguments in Australia!!

The bicycle was invented in the UK therefore it should be the bicyclng capital of the world .Over here in Canada I keep hearing politicians and Canadians saying that we can't afford separate protected bicycle infrastructure. That's bullocks ! Canada is a wealthy country. There are countries with a quarter of the GDP of Canada and these countries have extensive and proper bicycle infrastructure.

Does the UK govt have any incentive to tax road users when it taxes motorists 60% of the fuel they put in their cars? And how are they going to replace this revenue when electric cars replace ICE vehicles?

Every cyclist should pay a thousand pounds a year road tax or get a BMW to drive to pub like me

😂 After that get a DUI and blame the system again.

BMWs are unhealthy and leads to a proclivity towards inactivity.

bike lanes are cheaper to make, replace and maintain as well as cyclists on roads cause about 1/160,000th the damage as a car given it weighs roughly 1/20th that of a car... inverse square law at play here... plus every cyclist on the road is one less car clogging the arteries of a city... so car drivers should pay for cycling infrastructure to keep us on our bikes... makes more room for them, better travel times and keeps us out of their kill-box's way... don't know how many cyclists have killed car drivers or pedestrians... pretty sure cars kill people all the time.

There is no such thing as road tax. All taxes pay for road infrastructure, which includes taxes that cyclists pay. Cyclists pay taxes, just like all those drivers. Drivers always say that cyclists don’t pay gas tax and act like income, social security, property and sales taxes don’t exist. I guess most drivers in America didn’t pay attention in economics since it is obvious that they do not know that taxes other than gas tax exist and use that to justify oppressing cyclists and not giving them the space they deserve. Also bike lanes are super cheap to make, even when they are protected and roads are way more expensive to make than bike lanes, and bikes aren’t causing wear and tear on the road

Cyclist doesn't even need a proper road. Even a gravel footpath is more than enough unless it's a winter country. If the public transport is running properly, hiring a vehicle for other heavy needs is more than enough. We all made simple life things more complicated trying to show off luxury. People forgot that going out for a drink, bringing groceries home or even going to work they only take the vehicle to keep at the parking lot majority of the day. With new electric three wheel bikes can't say "I'm not healthy enough to ride a bicycle" accidents will be minimum fitness will increase so less business for fuel, hospitals and insurance will be the only issue. So I don't know why people are resisting still.

Well, I’d love cyclists to cycle on the road and bridle ways and obey the Highway Code. Realise that pedestrians have right of way over them and stay off footpaths

how many cyclists a year get killed on the roads vs pedestrians killed by cyclists sharing a path?
@tompiper92768 ай бұрын
@@adam346 A cyclist was killed by a pedestrian a few months back. They shoved the cyclists in to the path of a truck.
