The BuCue head is one of my favorite Gundam accessories. I want that inverted Astray or whatever they called it.

The red/black one? Yeah it's pretty cool, even though it's just a palette swap it has a different feel.
@Mike_Jones1980 Жыл бұрын
@@LiamsHobbyRoom yeah the Gundam Breaker recolor, it's got that BuCue head too. I was never a big Astray fan either, but I built the red frame MG a couple years ago and developed an appreciation for the design.

Never been a fan of Gundams wielding mechanical swords, but I have to say this actually looks good with the katana.
@LiamsHobbyRoom Жыл бұрын
I agree, it feels weird to have it wield a big slab of metal when it has beam sabers!

This channel deserves more attention. The builds and advice are great and you bring a very welcoming energy to every video. I genuinely get excited when I see you in my notifications or my feed!

Wow that's so kind of you Yohan!!! Thank you! That made my night :)

Great looking paint job. I wish you could show more of the painting process to see the steps you take to get from the stock kit to your beautifully painted kit.

Thank you!! I don't typically film that stuff because it's hard to get a good shot, but I believe there is some of that in my Juaggu video!

I just picked up the rg. I’m not crazy about the red so I’m going to go for a dark steel frame! Thanks for the video!

DUDE that's gonna look so cool!! Hit me up on insta with pics if you feel like sharing :)

Looks so good. I wasn't a fan of the Astray design, either, but then I built one of the Master Grades and it made me really appreciate how interesting the design is and all the articulation in the suit. After that, the Astray became one of my favorite "Gundam" designs, and I say this as someone who is much more of a mono-eye fan. Anyway, I think they're cool now, and your build is awesome.
@LiamsHobbyRoom Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I'm starting to see things that way too, and I'll be doing another one of the Astrays soon :)

The Sengoku Astray is my favorite Astray design. It takes the samurai motif of the base astray, dials it up to 11, and gives the frame a beautiful metallic glossy wine red color Ntm that badass Oni no Tate shield on the back

I can see the appeal, but it kind of just takes the parts I don't love about the Astray suits and makes them... more so haha

Great vid, and great paintjob as always. Just a few questions: did you paint the polycaps? and when are you building that Chaos Gundam in the background? Can't wait to see it.
@LiamsHobbyRoom Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!! I didn't paint the polycaps, I figured all the paint would just flake off once it cured as it usually does with polyethylene based plastics, but they would have looked better if I had. Honestly, what I should have done is just scratch built a neck joint out of plasticard and a brass rod to paint it the same red color. Oh well... next time! As for the Chaos, there's going to be some pretty significant modifications to get it up to snuff, but I'll get around to him eventually :) I have a few projects lined up in the meantime that I think will be pretty cool.

Looks even better than I anticipated! Great job! You're really great at entertaining the your audience too. Hope to see more seed kits. Like to see you tackle the amatsu mina in the future. But more kits of your own interest will be great too.

Thank you so much!! I really want to do the Amatsu Mina Gold Frame too, so when they reprint it I'll snag it for sure :)

As an astray fan, the love and care you put into this kit really shows, i only have a question how did you the "white'ish" (english isn't my first language) effect on the beams?
@LiamsHobbyRoom Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much!! I apply that effect on most of my beam sabers. This is how I do it: 1. Sand the part down to remove the mold line and smooth it out. End on a fine grit like 1000. 2. Spray a very thin coat of white at the base. You can also add it half way up the blade, I find it makes the Saber look more dynamic. 3. Then I spray a very thin coat of fluorescent paint in whichever color the Saber is, aiming the airbrush nozzle in between the areas you painted before. This brightens and blends the edges of the colors. The only tricky part is making sure the colors are thin enough so they're not totally opaque!

I think someone should have potential to a Ayame Nakiri custom build Astray
@LiamsHobbyRoom Жыл бұрын
I don't know what that is 😅

I actually can agree out of all of the I only like the gold frame mostly because it’s more different from the other astrays I don’t like and I’ve built it and it wasn’t that fun

I'm with you. Never liked the Astray, and I really do think if it weren't for the giant katana, it wouldn't be half as popular. The lower legs seem very short every time I see any version of the Astray, I think the colors never look good, the v-fin looks very goofy and tacked on, and the vents on the back of the shoulder look goofy because they're not actually ventilating anything. Great video as always!
@LiamsHobbyRoom Жыл бұрын
Haha YES the vents!!! And I 100% agree with the katana. It's like the Ferrari of mobile suits, just so over the top that it never seems to feel grounded. Thanks for watching :)
