Great video Kim! Don’t forget those who have olive skin tone. Those people can have cool or warm but still have that olive component. I look good in cool colors (particularly in jewel tones) and bright white. I am olive. If you just glance it mAy seem I’m warm, but warm colors against my face make me look very sallow and tired and I need a lot of makeup to perk up. The green in my skin makes neutral colors look good on me. So champagne eyeshadow - not silver (cool) or gold (warm). There are many videos out there about this topic. I love the olive one by Audrey Cohen. It’s an amazing one if you think you’re Olive. Christie Ressel is another Canadian stylist who has a video on skin tone. Dior has wonderful olive foundations for anyone who needs that or who wants to evaluate if they are olive. When compared to the warm foundations you can really see the green tinge in it. Hope this helps a bit more for anyone who could be confused because they are olive.

Thanks for the tips! One additional trick I use is to go by any foundation (that actually has the undertone labeled in the shade name) that matches me the most. I usually find foundations that are labeled as "neutral" seamlessly blend into my skin the best. xoxo

Actually, this video was the opposite of confusing for me! It confirmed everything I've learned through experience but never had explained. I figured I was "cool," but didn't understand why then I could wear colors like orange and yellow. I often get lots of compliments in orange! And now I understand...ah, yes! It's the cool versions of those colors! Also, wholeheartedly agree about being able to wear the non-flattering color away from your face... this is the only way I can pull off the blush pink that I love. Wear it in pants, shoes, bag, etc. Ladies really limit themselves when they swear off a certain color because there are so many shades and ways to wear it!

Of the two dresses you show, the reddish and white floral is cool, but the peachier colors in the other one are warm.

I’m a cool blue vein blonde. My undertone is mix yellow pink. I normally wear neutral foundation. Pink foundations looks bad. Light pink and cream look awful on me but dark blue and burgundy looks much better. This was the best video I have watched explaining this topic! Do another video with people for each type and examples w clothes. Make a clothing box for types! Team up with Nordstrom for the sale and give ideas for types!!

This is hands down the best video I have found regarding this topic! I am probably one of the rare people out there, but I literally have warm undertones, but super cool color eyes... it is by far the MOST challenging part of wearing color because my eyes are such a contrast to my warm and fair skin. I got the the point where I no longer even care, and just wear the colors I am drawn to. Even if they don't look flattering, I feel good wearing colors I love. But if I have to go somewhere and dress up, I take the whole color thing seriously as I want to look my best.

Great video and explanation, Kim...thanks! I had ‘my colours’ done back in 1980 and was told I’m a Spring🤣. I definitely have warm undertones and have always gravitated toward gold over silver! I do find it hard to distinguish between cool/warm tones of certain colours still!

Kim, I think you are definitely a Summer, cool-toned and light. You might be on the neutral side, but still cool. Pinks can be warm or cool, toward peachy colors is warm, toward berry colors is cool.

Your tips are very helpful. What's interesting is my veins are clearly green so I am warm toned, but I feel like cool tone works better and I can't wear yellow (all shades) but I love yellow. Perhaps because I am Asian. Also, with foundation, I seem to work better with olive tone or neutral (sometimes).

This was great kim. You explained it very well I have a lot of yellow in my skin although my veins are a greenish blue. It is confusing to me. Bright colors look best on me And pale colors wash me out. What confuses me is I look best in warm colors for sure but get a lot of compliments wearing black the purple you showed and royal blue which are supposed to be cool so I am a little confused. Maybe you're neutral. I'm pretty sure I am. Blue/green veins, more yellow against white, and silver so I lean toward cool but get compliments in red and brown too. I can't do yellow or orange so that makes me think I'm more cool.

A big hello from Belgium, Kim. In fact, as a colour expert, I do not fully agree with Magda, here. Pink can be warm or cold, depending on the amount of blue you have in it. It varies. Think about fuschia, for example. That is a cold pink. Lighter pinks can be warm. And yellow can either be warm or cold depending on the hue. However, in my opinion, the best test (apart from compliments from your relatives, of course, but then you have already bought the item) is, in the shop or at home for an Internet purchase, to look at your face with the item on, not at the piece of clothes, but at your FACE. If you glow, as Kim said, that colour is made for you. If not, don't buy the item or send it back. Looking forward to your next video. Keep safe.

My professional color analysis, gifted to me 40 years ago, has really helped me. I didn’t realize I had a cool undertone and was wearing the wrong colors. I highly recommend getting this done, it’s a great style investment. (Mine was by Color Me Beautiful).

Great video! Every word is so true. I am Chinese who lives in Europe. I found myself always wanting to make my face looks brighter, yet Europeans really like when my skin tone is dark. That's interesting. I always knew I suit warm skintones. But pink never suited me and I always thought pink was a cool colour. Like when u buy foundation then people with cool undertone, have more pink in their foundation Vs warm undertone foundation (which has more yellow).
