When lithium ion batteries burn, the cathode material breaks down and releases O2. This fuels the own fire. One battery will raise the temperature and pressure on the other battery packs and ignite them as well. This is why the car ferries burn down with electric vehicle fire. Water covers the car up but the fire is fueled from the inside and not from the outside. Its a very big new challenge.

In a past video on this channel Walmart made a investment of 130 electric trucks and thinking of going all electric fleet. This is why that Walmart is making a big mistake by getting electric trucks for the fire risk and could hurt them on their bottom line. If it would be up to me cancel all orders of electric trucks and go with an other source of fuel for the rest of the fleet and future orders of trucks. I only thinking of Walmart profits and losses.

It's because the drivers seat is in the middle of the cab, chucking the universe into chaos theory, putting the battery's into solid state confusion, so there committing Harry Karry at 2.88 Giga Watts. Back to the future, oops i mean drawing board! 😎

Since when have batteries ever been light weight ? Is this for Mercedes marketing ? and the magic battery technology people in the EV marketing keep telling us now for years , when is this magic going to occur ?

I think it's all about the battery chemistry. Even though i prefer combustion engines in general there's use case scenarios for battery powered vehicles of any kind. It depends on which type of battery the manufacturer decides to be used, and if they decide to use the choice with the highest energy density, they choose the option with the highest risks. In my opinion it's a bad idea to just look for the highest possible range per charge. For example, LiFePo4 batteries are way safer then other Li-ion batteries are, they just have a lower energy density, and this makes battery packs bigger and heavier. Manufacturers mainly choose to go the risky Li-ion way because of range competition reasons, ignoring the risks. That's imho a dumb idea.

No they are a disaster imo , for a start they are prohibitively cost ineffective, add to that batteries are extremely heavy , and the whole point of a truck is to carry the maximum amount of freight possible. Not only are there regulations on axle weight , roads also have load limits . Also a big draw back for any type of EV is adverse conditions, or dragging heavy loads for extended periods, and on trucks extra heavy load or drag ( extra axles) or electrical loads , like when trucks are fitted with other devices and machinery , just one instance being hydraulics for example . then there is the problem of batteries which do degrade the more you use them , and of course that means your range goes down too , and range is also already inferior to diesels. As an EX owner driver, you couldn't pay me to buy an Electric truck. And another point, heavy trucks work much harder , and for longer hours than cars , how long will it take to wear out a absolutely huge massively expensive battery pack in the EV truck ? I'd take a guess not long. At one stage I drove for a company that ran 6 days a week pulling two trailers up to 68 ton maximum , the trucks did 2 X shifts per day , usually a run taking 10 hours , and maybe a tad longer if we had to unload at another stop on the way . Back at the depot , the driver would drop the trailers off , hand the paperwork in , wash the truck , fill the tanks with high flow pumps about 10 minutes , clean the inside of the truck out for the next driver shift , and go home for some shut-eye . And we did not even mention extreme heat conditions in summer that doesn't bother big diesels, and of course extreme cold which we already know impacts EV batteries badly. I could mention a buddy that owns a small bus service in the country that is being pushed to update his reliable diesel buses to electric buses that cost twice as much as a diesel bus , are capable of half the range and are an absolute nightmare when they break down, and make no mistake EVs break down and parts are usually a fortune. I've got nothing against EVs , except they are inferior in so many ways to diesels ( or ICE vehicles)that have been doing the hard yards for nearly 100 years.
