I can respect his decision to not dive too deep into acting. Thinking back to the story about how Em treated studio work like a 9-5, it makes sense. The man values his time and doesn't want to overwork himself. Glad he didn't get some of those roles, F&F, Training Day, don't think those movies would have took off the way they did with Em. 8 Mile is an All-Time Great movie, doesn't mean he needs to be a regular actor.

I don’t think Em would’ve overworked himself considering 8mile was his story so ofc he was gon act in it and write the soundtrack but in other movies it would be different because they don’t need Em to do a soundtrack for the film all he would have to do is show up to the set do what he has to do

He once said he was working 16 hours a day with 2 hours to get to the set and 2 hours to come back. He was writing for both the soundtrack and The Eminem Show at the same time. He suffered from Sleep deprivation. He was taking a lot of pills just to be able to rest. On the top of that his love interest in the movie Britanny Murphy who became a close friend to him died a few years after the movie. I can totally see why he would hate most memories from that Film. Still one of the greatest Music Biopic ever though

He was overworked and that completely ruined his experience & it made him never want to act again. Not a actor ,but anybody who has been overworked knows how he feels. I really respect why Em has stayed away from principal roles. You get artists who use one industry and gain enough traction to feel confident in hitting your stride in another. lady Gaga always wanted to be an actress but she felt she had to hit her stride musically first. So far she’s knocking it out the park. Maybe when Em truly retires from rapping may he consider acting more.

If you lived through it you’d had an idea how massive the controversy was for the first two classic albums. Em was really careful attaching himself to roles or deals that a lot of kids would be influenced by. That’s why you didn’t see him sponsor any brands until the Recovery album with Brisk. Old middle America really was picketing and boycotting him heavy as a part of that success.

I do feel he has harsh feelings towards it for many reasons. The long grueling hours in both production of the film and in the studio, the sleep deprivation, the addiction to substance abuse, and, then, the passing of Brittany Murphy all have played his mentality. I can’t even lie.. it was 8 mile that made me take up music myself.. I remember I would write the lyrics from the battles down and find beats myself so I could rap them to different beats to see if I could get the “flow” then it turned into me eventually writing my own lyrics, down the line I went to a music arts college and studied how to produce, mix & master and I have had a passion for music ever since.. idk who I would be if I never watched 8 mile.

Eminem actually does like 8 Mile, but isn’t really eager to be the lead of another film. He’s fine playing small parts and if a film came his way where the part he was offered was the lead and he wanted to do it, I’m sure he would as long as acting and him doing music was balanced out so things didn’t end up like they did with the shooting of 8 Mile where he got 4 hours of sleep every night, took pills to help him sleep which basically was the beginning of his drug addiction, having to record an album of his own while also have involvement on the films soundtrack and having to make sure his lines were memorized on top of everything else, yeah I can see the process not being so fun for him. While he may not have enjoyed the overall process of making the film, I’ve seen and read interviews where he’s very positive and has recounted great memories he has of the film, despite the aspects that weren’t so fun. Bottom line is, he does enjoy 8 Mile and isn’t against acting in films and shows, but music is his primary focus.

@@seanhart9706 I know he doesn’t hate 8 Mile based on how he’s talked about the film over the years. Overall, he enjoys the film. He’s talked about how the process to make it wasn’t exactly fun for him due to having to shoot 16 hour days, the drive to and from the set was 2 hours each way and he slept for 4 hours every night until the film was complete. He was finishing up The Eminem Show album and had some songs he was writing for the films soundtrack while also producing the soundtrack as well. These things combined weren’t fun and he’s never tried to paint that part of the experience making 8 Mile as positive. All that lead to his addiction to sleep medication due to how small of a window he had to sleep. But for the most part, such as looking at interviews for the films 10th and 15th anniversary, he’s talked about good experiences such as working with the many talented people and how the director, Curtis Hanson, helped him when it came to acting and how he was able to get a good performance from him. The title of the video is misleading as it makes it sound as if he hates the film as a whole and he doesn’t. He likes it and likes certain aspects of the making of the film, but there were defiantly negative aspects to it and because of those experiences, he’s not exactly eager to be the lead in a film again. Maybe if the right project came around where he could also make a song or do the score to the film while the schedule wouldn’t conflict or merge much with an album he’s making then perhaps he’d make another film. But until then, he’s fine with having 8 Mile be his leading role in a film.

Thanks for summarizing what I just watched.... It just hit so much harder coming from someone who knows Eminem personally, and isn't just regurgitating things he read (or KZbin videos he just watched literally minutes ago), as though they are his own opinions! Seriously... I can't, not say something. ..... Who TF asked you, what Eminem thinks or feels? How you gonna come up in here and repeat the video as though you have some kind of insider information? They literally said *EVERYTHING* that you just repeated, in the dang video! All of it! I don't know why anyone would take your word when it comes to how Eminem feels about 8 mile anyway, you're not his friend, not a reporter who's spoken to him... You're just... Odd. Hop off Em's D, Stan.

All the people who played in movie roles Em was suppose to play in became famous for those roles lol it's safe to say three same wouldn't have happend for eminem Hes simply not a factor ge Said himself he only commits to a part that HE is passionate about, The actors who played in the roles offered to him are True actors who can commit to any role regardless of if its passionate to them

I think the reason he won't do anything like 8 mile with him in a lead role is probably the reason why we won't see him do a tour ever again. Stuff like that caused his addiction and it was the beginning of it spiralling out of control.

Em never said he didn’t want to act again. Just not a lead role where he’s in every scenes. 8 mile fed his pill addiction.

You can be Childish Gambino too and turn from acting to rapping. Or should I say he can (Even tho I do enjoy Joe Pesci's rap how he is mafioso 😂 Legendary stuff right there). Dude is a beast, stand-up and writing as a whole included in the package, pretty sure directing also.

Ironically I feel like the 8 Mile era was the last time Eminem was 100% on top of his game as an artist. Don't hate on me, Stans, I just have strong opinions on his career. Still one of the GOATS because of everything he did from 98-2002 though.

I believe the scene with the horse represents him, the fact he’s a stallion that’s beautiful with so much power and potential, but he’s stuck in a junk yard. Idk for sure but that’s what I took from it and it fits really, in any position like that tbh.

The thing that's crazy to me is how eminem is probably one of the biggest celebrities on earth but there hasn't been a biopic about him there's been documentaries but none of them were eminem was in the only thing he has close is his book the way I am but if there ever was an eminem biopic it would demolish the box office

This drove his most focused year ever but I truly believe led to a long burnout for him. Think about the year he had in 2002... number one movie in US, number one soundtrack in the US and number one album in the US. He did all of that at the same time.
