Thank you! To me it's absolutely disrespectful to Daredevil. They made a total mockery out of him because he is so skilled and good at what he does and he has to drastically slow down and pretend that Echo is an actual challenge for him even though she's dumply and slow. Why does Daredevil have to be in incredible shape for his role, but it's OK for her and characters like Miss Marvel to be dumpy and overweight. Every male super hero has a fit and cut body. When Thor was overweight in End Game it was a joke and everyone laughed about it, but God forbid we laugh at Echo for being fat and dumpy. The double standard is ridiculous and offensive. This is coming from a woman that is a minority and disabled in case someone wants to say that I'm a "cis white male" ( I hate that term) that's a racist misogynist and ableist. Despite my disabilities I still work hard to keep myself in shape even though it's a lot harder for me to maintain a healthy and fit body. Echo doesn't even have a disability that physically limits her and Miss Marvel has no disabilities. The reason they had to add the stupid, vague powers from her ancestors is so we can somehow believe that someone dumpy and weak can fight. It really is pathetic and insulting.

As I've seen people point out, being a "deaf Ninja" is rather contradictory, because deaf people have no idea how loud they are, and therefore have no idea how to move stealthily. Yes. Front windscreens are laminated, so sheets of glass layered with plastic so it cannot break up. Side and rear windows are tempered if they break, they shatter into tiny little pieces so they can't cut you. I was in a car accident four days ago, and my car got munched by two small(ish) trucks, both the front windscreen and the rear were broken. The front screen stayed in one piece, thanks to the lamination, and the rear went into little pieces, just as designed. I got a bit battered, and was still combing tempered glass out of my hair hours later, but I was not cut by the glass. Cars, especially those designed over the last forty years, are designed to protect the occupant as much as possible.

This is excellent information in case someone smart wishes to write a script. Your comment should be at the very top. I have tried writing non-fiction short stories and have found excellent sources online and through books. I have also been in a car crash years ago, and you described it perfectly. As long as you are wearing a seatbelt and the airbag is functional, all you get is a lot of numbness and pain depending on how bad the car tumbles around. My friend had numbness in his elbows and arms. I felt like a rock was thrown at my chest and my right shoulder had been tightened up with a rope. It was mostly the seatbelt doing its actual job. 😅I didn't know all of its functions until I saw a diagram. Interesting stuff you find out afterwards, while in physical therapy. 🏃♀

6:00 - in the US, the hand brake is also called "emergency brake". 26:00 - Not a superheroine, but definitely an avatar for the current generation of young girls, diverse & disabled or not. Generally speaking, most young women believe rules don't apply to them and behave accordingly. And why not? The arrest and incarceration rates are testament that they do not. A careful observer of American culture shows the number and diversity of fake crimes of which they claim to be victim has been growing of late, as well as legitimate crimes for which they see few to no consequences--for instance, teacher/student secks. A girl completely composed of horrible will certainly inspire more to follow--a bit like Robyn Hood and other reprehensible "girl boss" archetypes.

That fight with Daredevil was hilarious. He has to drastically slow down to accommodate her. I love Daredevil and he is fast. He literally had to stop to give her time to hit him. Maybe if she wasn't overweight and dumpy and trained as hard as the actor that plays Daredevil does to have a fit and strong body, they wouldn't have to choreograph the fight to accommodate how slow and weak she is. Scarlet Johanson once said she hated playing black widow because of how much training she had to do to look fit and strong enough to do the fight scenes she did. The days of Gal Gadots and Scarlet Johansons as female super heros are over so people can feel relatable to overweight and dumpy female heros that are too slow and weak to take anyone down, but we have to pretend they can.

Dude had a pre-made last of great, established and loved characters to choose from with unlimited funds to make the movies happen. I could suggest 3 movies right now with full storylines that would make a billion easy and i bet others here could easily do the same. Kevin doesn't actually understand any of these characters. Even wolverine would still pull in bank. people have wanted to see some of these iconic characters for a long long time, and I can think of a couple that would make absolute Bank as a TV series, provided they do it right. That's all it boils down to, regardless of what people say or what people think there is most definitely a wrong way to do it. And I think Kevin has done the wrong thing way too many times for just any old hero to reinvigorate the genre. But at the same time, there is still so much possibility with doing things the right way

I'm shocked, this was the nicest Echo review I seen on KZbin (seriously, seen a bunch on other channels I sun on too, even the more mainstream cut it to pieces). My view is that I don't mind Disney doing a show for deaf people, as a hearing person the slow Shattner style of speaking makes my brain hurt but that is fine. My qquestion is more: Why would you pay $235 million dollars for a 5 episode show that doesn't really require many special effects or CGI (yeah, I know they cut out 3 episodes since they were terrible but that does not really make it sound like a better decision) that is made for a rather niche audience? I don't understand the economics behind that, Disney+ is losing an insane amount of cash so they make a short very expensive show for death people? Now, if they paid a tenth of that, not a problem but if you want to throw that much money on a show you want a wider target audience, that is just common sense. It didn't help that the story was terrible, the only person who gave the impression of being able to fight was Daredevil who made a cameo and the lead actress had never acted before or had any training in acting so she really couldn't act. It was still better then She Hulk though.

But the Hawkeye show should have gone the same way that the Nick Fury show should have gone; with the young, upstart, girl-boss character getting removed from the story and the main character actually being the bad@$$. As opposed to characters like Hulk, who honestly seems way too underpowered in these movies, and Black Panther that I really wish we had gotten more of and seen more abilities from (Rest in Peace Chadwick Boseman, you were impeccable).

Echo is supposed to be (at least part) "Ojibwe" Anishinabe. It's funny how they wouldn't look to actual Anishinabek folklore for inspiration. The shape-shifting super powers of a deity like Nanibijou would have been so much more interesting to see depicted than "the powers of her female ancestors." And lacrosse? Lacrosse is an Iroquois game, not Anishinabek. It's like depicting someone's Greek ancestors dancing the Horah instead of the Syrtaki. If they had actual Indigenous writers or advisors on this series, they sure as hell don't know much. Even the "intergenerational trauma" depicted is ridiculous. Couldn't they consult the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples for something a little more believable? There's no way in hell that any Anishinabe nokomis/grandma would act that way.

In many cases, if the birth is simply stalled (and there are no genuine medical complications) taking the woman to a place where she feels safe will help labour progress. Feeling unsafe and ‘watched’ can and does stall labour. For women who have low risk pregnancies and no complications, home birth is actually - statistically - safer, which is why it’s the norm in a lot of first world countries.

You know what you’re getting into the moment you hear a description like that. The Winter Soldier (Amputee) is cool. Daredevil (disabled) is cool. Electra (woman) is cool. There are other original indigenous superhero’s they could have used and improved on but they decided to go down this brain dead road.

Like my daddy always said, you gotta put a little extra butter on the biscuits to make a brotha mouth water.

I have to disagree with the trigger discipline example, the rule gernally goes "Dont put your finger on the trigger unless you are ready to shoot." What was she doing? Clearing a hallway with the gun up, she was ready to shoot. Not only is that nitpicky, its wrong tbh. If she had the gun by her side or in the low to ready position near her chest then sure but she literally has the gun up. Stop giving me reasons to defend the show. The amount of finger on that trigger was disgusting though. You use the middle of the pad so that trigger pulls dont jerk the gun one way or the other. She would be hitting left alot.

How does she get super powers if she just gets help from female ancestors her ancestors weren’t super human so how is she? None of her powers make any sense

Tangentially related but apparently dogs can learn sign language and I think that’s cool.

I missed the motivation so she would like to have her family and everybody in this town pay for her crimes and connections to Kingpin? What a great hero. You aren't Daredevil, lady.

Not trying to make Echos violation of basic gun safety seem any worse then it is, but the M-1911 is a single action handgun meaning it won’t shoot without the hammer being back. As far as I can tell she’s holding a pistol without a round in the chamber.
