I'm trying to get healthier, but tbh public gyms are so intimidating because I have no idea what I'm doing. Even then, I would rather use the gym here at work with 0 ventilation than go to planet fitness for the horror stories alone. I did go to Orange Theory a few times and I really liked it, but I don't want to pay 60$ a month for like 3 classes, AND shell out more money to rent their little gadget thing.

I had the same problem when I started out, I felt intimidated whenever I went to gym. Usually the purpose of working out is to feel better in our bodies and to become more confident, so I would suggest you get a yoga mat and 2 dumbells. Do home workouts, you can find many online and once you feel confident enough in what you're doing you can actually start working out comfortably in the gym. If that's too much you can try getting a personal trainer for a few weeks to help you get started. Change the plan not goal

@@Aya.Peanuts thank you for the advice and encouragement! I'm fortunate enough to work in an office with a gym in the building, it's just not well ventilation and I overheat easily, but I'm willing to sweat a little more for my health 😂 so I'm going to have to start going after I punch out

I had a friend whos cousin was kidnapped as a planet fitness and my friend said when they went to get footage planet fitness refused to help and give footage and just didnt really want anything to do with a kidnapping that happened on THEIR PROPERTY (also i think it was in the parking lot not in the actual building)

There was this one time I went to a gym with no idea whatsoever cus I was too shy to ask for assistance, I was struggling with the leg equipment smth Smith and wanted to surrender cus it was so hard until this one buff guy and his friend in the friendliest tone I've ever heard in my entire life asked if I needed help. It was a quick but very kind gesture

The thought of going to a public gym scares me, and I already get anxiety going out in public. I'll probably end up having a panic attack working out in a public gym, I find it more comfortable working out at home. I won't be getting judge and the only thing that might distract me is the dogs.

Pizzas? Donuts? Bruh, my planet fitness has NEVER had those days since it opened years ago. As well as people hollering, the lunk alarm never sounded off. It was a good gym. I just canceled my membership cause there was SOO many people, could never get my workouts done on the machines i needed, and the franchise in our town ended 24/7 hours to the point as soon as i got off work, they were closing.

My sister worked at Planet Fitness and they forced her to get a membership that continued once she quit the membership lasted for a year because her contract made her keep her membership and they would charge her more money if she stopped it early....

I went in and cancelled and got a signed letter of the membership being cancelled and then they kept charging me for a year and "moving" my gym around so I had to go to different locations, I had to close my bank account to get rid of it. I will never get a membership there again

My brother use to go to Planet Fitness a lot just to use it instead of the gym that the school provided because it would be filled with a lot of people making TikToks and it bothered him, so he went to the Planet Fitness 10 minutes away from the school gym. He says when he was there the Lunk alarm would never be pulled and he always had a peaceful workout and then within a few months the alarm would go off every 10 minutes and he had watched probably 15 different people get kicked out till it happened to him and all he did was set the weights back on the rack and it went off, he lost his membership to all Planet Fitness's

When I used to go to the gym, they had tvs on their bikes. Before I left, I'd turn the tvs to the food network so whoever was next had to see cake boss. I'm sadistic. But that lady blaming food why people are fat is an idiot. Nobody forces you to over eat. If you have trauma that makes you that angry a gym has free pizza, go to a therapist. Also, the lunk alarm may even save a life if it sets off when weights fall. There's always some idiot putting too many weights on a machine to impress a female... arms shaking, as he drops the weights on his chest... needs 2 people to remove the bar because he's not small enough to go under, & his arms are too limp to lift it off himself. We've all seen it.

As someone who actively works out there as of late….its mid, people hog the machines, it’s crammed to the point there’s like several people waiting for a single machine. However it’s not the worse it’s my only choice since it’s the closest and progress has been good, still mid.
